fantasy premier league GW26 – some early thoughts on the FFGeek team

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Here’s some early FFGeek team thoughts in this fantasy premier league GW26 article. We look at gameweek 25, some issues facing the team, transfer thoughts and early captain thinking

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW26 – SOME EARLY THOUGHTS ON THE FFGEEK TEAM

So firstly it’s important to say I’m continuing with my 2 team theme as a result of my accidental free hit chip being used in GW23.

Team 1 is the team with the free hit chip lost.

Team 2 has the free hit team intact and was cloned from one of my alternate FFGeek teams to be my original team through a -28 point hit.

Team 2 is to help people who were following my original team as a reference point so they can continue doing so.

Team 1 will help those people who used their free hit chip earlier in the season.

Both teams require totally different strategies to navigate through the potential blank and double gameweeks up coming

Here was my team selection article going into the gameweek if you’re interested

GW25 PERFORMANCE – FREE HIT LOST TEAM

GW25 points: 55 -4 (average 47) Gameweek rank 1,596k Overall Rank: 55k red arrow 5k Team Value: £103.6m

Here’s the team points. A 5k red arrow to 55k OR.

So despite a 5k red arrow the week wasn’t too bad.  To be honest I was very surprised at the 47 point average.  The gameweek score of 1.596m isn’t the end of the world although ideally each week you’re aiming to be in the top 1 million each week which is the top 17% of scores.  The score was definitely helped by the lack of Chelsea and Man Utd clean sheets which are normally a ranking drain.

ISSUES WITH THE TEAM

I have 1 free transfer and £1.5m in the bank.  It’s a very long list and not especially in priority order.

No Man Utd defence

Theyre playing Huddersfield this week so a clean sheet looks a good bet so a fix this week would be useful.

I went to the pub to watch the game v Spurs and arrived a few minutes late to see the clean sheet gone which was a relief from the ranking perspective.  I’m a little concerned about some knee jerk reaction from Mourinho in team selection coupled with only 3 days rest leading to rotation.  From that perspective De Gea would be the safest bet.   I’d like to think Jones won’t be dropped after the season he’s had but he could be rotated.  However,  as he’s the most owned by active managers he would be neutralised no matter what although De Gea is still a ranking drain.

Christensen

When I heard he went off after 28 minutes I was sending out eye roll emojis like some out of control website spammer.  Chelsea losing the clean sheet soon after at least blocked off that big ranking drop as a result.  How can 1 guy have so much bad luck (I’m talking about Christensen not me btw)  It’s a hamstring which is not a good start. The FPL site has him at 75% to be fit which seems a bit of a stretch.  Conte says he needs an assessment but I can’t see him playing in GW26.

I could use it as an easy way to bring Jones in.

Son HM

It was another pretty ordinary performance although and the emjoi’s were out again (this time angry face) when Son chose to shoot rather than get an assist for a Kane tap in.  This is the 2nd week where my transfer will probably be dictated to by an injury or a player losing his place rather than anything pro-active.  The result will probably be that Son will probably stay until GW28 when the fixtures turn and he will be a low priority transfer then.  Unless he’s needed to raise funds.

Richarlison

Another quiet game but due to him playing in GW31 and other fires to put out I can’t see an exit at the moment

Ogbonna

The guy is the equivalent of the cyborg in the terminator movies refusing to be killed off in my team due to other issues coming up.  No thanks,  to 2 West Ham defensive players in my team is the reasoning.

Niasse

Did start but it’s hard to see him being the regular striker after the money paid for Tosun so is a likely exit

Kenny

Coleman starting last night was a bit of a surprise after such a long injury but it shows that Big Sam was desperate to replace him.  He may get 1 more game this week albeit away to Arsenal if the manager is reluctant to risk Coleman in games of such close proximity.

Gomez

Hard to see Gomez playing in GW31 home to Watford as Alexander Arnold has played alot of the easier home games so that should be addressed

TRANSFER OPTIONS

It’s possible I will just do Christensen to Jones assuming he’s out for a few weeks.

Blank and double gameweek thoughts

With no free hit the potential blank 31 is on my mind.  Liverpool v Watford and Everton v Stoke are guaranteed to stay in GW31 and I think Huddersfield v Palace is likely.

That gives means I have Salah, Gomez, Richarlison and McArthur (I’m ignoring the Everton players as they will likely not be first choice) and 6 transfers before GW31.  If I use Christensen to get Jones that means 5 transfers.  That would mean 9 players for GW31.

That does give me scope to take a few hits.  Players to think about from the 6 teams are Firmino, a Liverpool defender, Walcott, an Everton defender, a Palace defender and Zaha of Palace or even Benteke if he can hit form.  That’s 6 players.

I will do a more detailed article early next week.

THE TEAM LINEUP BEFORE ANY TRANSFERS

So not looking like an easy week at all with very few good fixtures and a weak bench.

CAPTAIN IDEAS

Can only see Aguero as captain at the moment.

GW25 PERFORMANCE – FREE HIT INTACT TEAM

This team is as if I didn’t make an accidental free hit ie the same as my original team and was cloned from one of my alternate FFGeek teams to be my original team through a -28 point hit. I will keep it to show how I would have navigated through the blanks with all the chips intact. I think that will be helpful for those who were using my original team as a reference point

GW25 points: 46 -4  (average 47) Gameweek rank 3,172k Overall Rank: 158k red arrow 42k Team Value: £102.4m

Here’s the points:

Here’s the lineup without any transfers:

So a gameweek where no Liverpool defender and the presence of Jones was pretty much the difference between the teams and a pretty chunky red arrow.

The lineup looks alot healthier than the other FFGeek team with the presence of 2 Man Utd players v Huddersfield.

I will probably take Niasse out for Wilson who has a number of decent fixtures ahead.

GAMEWEEK 26 DEADLINE: SATURDAY 3 FEBRUARY 11.30 UK TIME
