The bandwagons

These are the 5 most transferred in players so far in the gameweek, in order

Diego Costa

Interesting one this.  Back from his suspension this week and he will be home to Burnley.  That’s definitely an attractive fixture, but a blank in GW27 and a potential DGW28 uncertain as it depends on Leicester losing to Villa in the FA Cup this weekend and the Chelsea Leicester GW27 postponement going to GW28. Do you want someone on your bench in GW27 until you know if he’s got a DGW28?  I guess it depends on the damage you think he can do against Burnley.  To me depending on where his ownership goes to (especially among the leading managers) he is essential given his consistency, points return  and focal point of the team with the most goals in the league. The question is when you get him back.  I’m deffering any further thoughts until the Villa/Leicester FA Cup match

Next 6 fixtures:

– Gameweek 27 –
West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Stoke (H)

Ozil

2 goals and 3 assists and 32 FPL points in 3 games since coming back into the team after injury.  2 of those games have been home to Leicester and Villa which are very good fixtures.  Before the injury he got 1 goal and 1 assist in 6 games and only returned in 1 of those 6 games so it’s certainly a big change in fortune.  Has been playing on the left rather than the number 10 position he would ideally like but it hasn’t stopped him.  He’s also has had a good share of set pieces which he’s taken off Cazorla.  Can he keep it up?  He’s certainly got the fixtures and you could justify an Arsenal double up at the moment it’s just choosing between Sanchez, Walcott, Giroud and Ozil.  With Ozil, you’re relying though on someone to get points through in the main from set pieces and assists rather than goals.  His shots in the box stats are pretty ordinary (especially compared to Sanchez and Walcott) and last year he got 5 goals in the season which is a goal every 400 minutes or so or 4-5 games.

Everton (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)

Kane

Still can’t believe there’s 42k managers playing the game who don’t own him.  Why wouldn’t you own someone who costs buttons, has the record, consistency and form he does plus is owned by every man and his dog.  Doesn’t really have that great underlying stats but as some players have shown (you know who you are YYT) you can’t live your FPL life on underlying stats, sometimes there are just players you can’t ignore and Kane is one of them at the moment.  Oh and by the way he has pens when Townsend is off the field and a DGW28 after the blank in GW27.  The general fixtures are turning for the better as well.

West Ham (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
GW28 Swansea (H)
GW28 QPR (A)
Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)

Ings

A brilliant headed goal in the loss to Man Utd continued his incredible recent form of 5 goals and 2 assists in 7 games.  Even more impressive is the fact that he’s returned a goal or assist in 6 of those 7 games.  Hasn’t been that consistent over the season but you have to allow players from the Championship promoted sides some time to adjust.  So has form if not consistency over the whole season.  Not that much really in the way of underlying stats and fixtures couldn’t be much worse though.  Does have pens and in a team that can’t defend so they need to attack.

Chelsea (A)
Swansea (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Spurs (H)

Eriksen

Not often you see someone in this part of the article who’s just come off 2 blanks.  However this has to be about DGW28.  He maybe very inconsistent but he’s a player you go into a double gameweek without at your peril.  6 double figure FPL point hauls plus two 9 pointers this season just show what a dangerous player he can be.  The Chelsea DGW28 position is the only thing that could even make me consider not having him in my DGW28 team.

West Ham (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
GW28 Swansea (H)
GW28 QPR (A)
Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)

The sinking ships

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek

Charlie Austin

Expected back for GW26 although currently has a foot injury.  Does have a DGW28 albeit against Arsenal H and Spurs H so not the easiest of fixtures.  Does have a blank GW27. You would think that you may consider the Chelsea DGW28 poisition before you sold though after holding on for so long?  Funnily enough since his old team mate Danny Ings has been unable to stop scoring Austin has gone through a sticky patch with 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 6.  However the underlying stats haven’t been that bad in that period which does give some hope that things could turn.  Fixtures are a bit mixed

Hull (A)
– Gameweek 27 –
GW28 Arsenal (H)
GW28 Spurs (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
West Brom (A)

Rooney

The situation just gets more and more ridiculous with Rooney now playing as a virtual CDM against Burnley.  Only Blind had an average position deeper as a non defender and you could argue that Blind really is a CB anyway.  No goal or assist in his last 7 games.  I’m shocked it’s taken some people so long to sell him.

Swansea (A)
Sunderland (H)
Newcastle (A)
Spurs (H)
Liverpool (A)
Aston Villa (H)

Sterling

An injury and a tough run of fixtures is what’s behind these sales.  Looks very doubtful for GW26

Southampton (A)
Man City (H)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Man Utd (H)
Arsenal (A)

Sanchez

2 games without a return and an injury although he still looks able to play in GW26 given that he should be rested for 10 daysish before being rested from the FA Cup game.  Will become less of an ownership risk but lets not forget in terms of returns, consistency, 10+ point hauls, and underlying stats this is a guy who really only has Hazard as a rival.  The question is whether the lack of a winter break is catching up with him and whether the return of Ozil, Walcott and Giroud will dilute his returns as goals are shared around.  It’s how you interpret his season stats vs the last 2 games, the injury issues and the possible dilution that determines whether you sell or hold.

Everton (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)

Giroud

Had some injury concerns which saw him on the bench in midweek.  2 goals and 2 assists in 5 games since coming back isn’t to be sniffed at and the fixtures are good.  His underlying shooting and creating chances stats are also very good
