FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW26 REVIEW – SATURDAYS GAMES
CHELSEA 3 SWANSEA 1
Firstly here’s the pass and position map of Chelsea and Swansea from the excellent site 11tegen11. There’s also a shot map from the same site to show you Chelsea’s domination
Shot map
Costa
1 goal. 90 mins CF. Considering this was such a hammering he was relatively quiet in terms of good chances but give him a cut back on the edge of the 6 yard box and he’s not going to miss
Hazard
1 assist. 84 mins LAM. Costa, Hazard and Pedro are a front 3 and the attacking focus of the team. Hazard again was really easy on the eye with his running at defenders. It amazes me that he wasn’t double teamed and often was 1 on 1 with the fullback which is not the situation you want. However time and time again his stat output has been pretty ordinary. Here his shooting stats were pretty non existent apart from 1 great save from Fabianski. He did create a few good chances and would have had a great return had Fabregas’s shot went in rather than hit the bar.
Pedro
1 goal 1 assist 75 mins RAM. Again part of the front 3. Neat cut back for the Fabregas assist. The goal was a rather speculative shot from outside the area poorly missed by Fabianski. He made the most of his opportunities.
Sigurdsson
1 assist. 90 mins LAM. Very few opportunities to influence the game in a match dominated by Chelsea. Assist was just a long free kick from the centre circle. Should have had a pen though when Azpilicueta handled.
Llorente
1 goal. 90 mins CF . The goal was his only chance but he really is no mug in the air and this was a great header from a long range Siggy free kick.
Defences
Swansea were kept well in check by the Chelsea defence. Swansea were dominated and the lack of attention to Hazard and the fact that Fabregas could just continually wander into the area unmarked for shooting practice was just quite surreal. They maybe on the up but defensively things don’t seem resolved
EVERTON 2 SUNDERLAND 0
Here’s the Everton pass and position map
Lukaku
1 goal. 90 mins CF. Goal was a lucky deflection but he would have felt aggrieved not to score in this match given the many chances he had
Barkley
Blanked. 82 mins. RAM. Always there or thereabouts in the Everton attacks especially on the counter but didn’t really have a clear cut chance.
Defoe
Blanked. 90 mins. CF. Very little opportunities but that doesn’t matter to Defoe. Hit the underside of the bar with his one chance and should have had a pen when Williams handled
Defence
Sunderland had 1 good spell in the 2nd half but this was a bit of a mauling by Everton to be honest
HULL 1 BURNLEY 1
Grosicki
1 assist. 90 mins. LAM. Hulls best attacking player. Had direct and indirect set piece involvement and 2 good chances to score.
Barnes
Blanked. 90 mins. SS. Didn’t really have a clear cut chance and was rather unluckily sent off for me
Gray
Blanked. 84 mins. CF. Was really lively and his hold up play and bringing others into the game was really good. Had the best chance of the game to score when one on one with the GK but put it wide
Brady
1 assist. 88 mins. LM. All set pieces direct and indirect and it was a corner that got him the assist
Defences
Both defences performed reasonably well. I was surprised Hull didn’t hold on once they had taken the lead but one marking lapse at a corner was all that Keane needed to score
CRYSTAL PALACE 1 MIDDLESBOROUGH 0
Here’s the Palace pass and position map
Benteke
Blanked. 90 mins. CF. A couple of headed chances from full back crosses but nothing clear cut
Zaha
Blanked . 87 mins LAM. Just too wide and the emphasis comes on assists. Catches the eye but nothing clear cur created.
Negredo
Blanked. 45 mins. CF. Did very little and being subbed off was no surprise
Defences
Palace had the best of the chances and Middlesborough were the less impressive defence. Palace were under pressure only in the 2nd half
WATFORD 1 WEST HAM 1
Here’s the West Ham pass and position map
Deeney
1 goal through a penalty. 90 mins. CF. Not many chances after the penalty
Antonio
1 assist. 85 mins. CF. Was the biggest goal threat on the park and very unlucky not to score. His assist was actually a shot which unluckily bounced off both posts to come straight to Ayew for a tap in. Missed a header from inside the 6 yard box too.
Snodgrass
Blanked 64 mins. CAM/SS. Had set pieces but didn’t create anything. Little goal threat.
Defences
Neither defence covered themselves in glory
WBA 2 BOURNEMOUTH 1
Rondon
Blanked. 90 mins. CF. Held the ball up well and strong running into the channels which I’m sure Pulis appreciates but no real attacking output
Chadli
1 assist. 87 mins LAM. Assist was no more than a square pass to Dawson for his deflected shot. Did have an offside goal ruled out rightly. However it was a generally quiet game
Morrison
Blanked 72 mins. CAM. 1 shot from the edge deflected but apart from that did little
King
1 goal (penalty) 90 mins. CF. Apart from the penalty little involvement
Fraser
1 assist. 90 mins. RAM. Lively creating chances for the right. Was fouled in such a move for the penalty to gain the assist
