fantasy premier league GW26 wildcard tips – the FFG imaginary wildcard

Fantasy Premier League, imaginary wildcard

Here’s our fantasy premier league GW26 wildcard tips article where we pretend we are using our wildcard. It gives player suggestions with more longevity than just for the up coming gameweek.

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW26 WILDCARD TIPS – THE FFG IMAGINARY WILDCARD

Firstly I would say that I wouldn’t wildcard now. I would use my wildcard to maximise the points potential in the double gameweeks coming up. See my article on potential blank and double gameweeks. I will hopefully update it again next week.

This is a short article where I’m pretending I’m using my wildcard to give you player picks with more longevity than the next game. It’s short as there are few stats.

In this article there’s some brief narrative on the selection below.

Unfortunately the short turnaround means there are no player ranking articles to refer to.

FFGEEK’S IMAGINARY WC TEAM

This is around £105m.  The team has been set up to accommodate a potential blank GW31 on the basis of the free hit not being used.  Stoke v Everton and Liverpool v Watford are guaranteed fixtures.  I also think Huddersfield v Palace is likely

STRUCTURE

The structure in this team is flexible to some degree but will probably revolve around 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 or 4-4-2.

GKS

I’ve gone for Pickford as a good save points GK plus Everton have good fixtures and have a guaranteed fixture in GW31.  Hennessey is the cheapest back up as I expect Pickford to play most games

DEFENDERS

I’m still in a place where I think Man City are the best defensive team.  There are cheaper options in Laporte and Stones and there is a risk that Otamendi will now be rested after playing so many games but I’ve stuck with him as there isn’t a pattern to establish as yet with anyone else.

The Man Utd defence is heavily owned among FPL managers with De Gea and Jones being the 2 in most FPL squads.  I have my doubts about them from an underlying stats perspective but their ownership and ability to keep clean sheets has me covering their defence

Despite the defensive shambles that was the home loss to Bournemouth I’ve stuck with the Chelsea defence.  They still have a couple of good fixtures before it all turns bad and the Bournemouth game was the exception rather than the rule.  Alonso is my player of choice

Stoke have produced 2 clean sheets admittedly against Huddersfield and a Watford side under a new manager who came for nothing except a 0-0.  Nevertheless as another player for the potential blank 31 I’ve put attacking RB Bauer in as one of the cheap defenders.

Also with a view to GW31 I’ve gone for Robertson.  Van Dijk was supposed to be the oasis of security in the defence but that seems to have gone with comments from Klopp about building up match fitness and the midweek rest he had.  Matip to me seems fairly certain but given the general issue I’ve gambled on the cheap option of Robertson in the hope that he can hold off the challenge of Moreno.

MIDFIELD

Hopefully Salah and Sterling should require no explanation.

I’ve then gone for Walcott for his pedigree and his start with 2 goals and an assist in his first 2 games.  Everton after Arsenal have a good run of fixtures

I’ve gone for another GW31 representative in Choupo Moting despite a fairly abysmal performance vs Watford.  Stoke still have a couple of good fixtures before they turn difficult.  I chose him of over Shaqiri to save funds

Lastly I’ve gone for McArthur as my bench warming cheapie with a prospect of gametime in GW31 should the FA Cup fixtures pan out and Man Utd beat Huddersfield in the FA Cup 5th round.

FORWARDS

Kane should need no explanation.

Jesus being at least a month away means Aguero stays for me.

Wilson is the best of the cheapie strikers for me with good fixtures coming up

Whats missing?

Man Utd attacking players is the most obvious thing missing as they have 2 good fixtures next.  You could either have Lingard or Martial in for Walcott at least for the Huddersfield game.  Or if you wanted to sacrifice 1 of Kane or Aguero go for Sanchez.
