Chelsea
Are the 0-3 and 1-4 losses to Bournemouth and Watford aberrations or a show of a more permanent decline or a team wanting to get Conte out. Only Man Utd have more clean sheets this season. Alonso missed the previous gameweek due to tiredness and it’s supposedly nothing. Hopefully a press conference will clarify things
Man City
Hard to know who to pick apart from Walker at the moment with 4 fit CBs and Otamendi playing a number of minutes
Spurs
With Rose playing in the FA Cup that looks to be the end of Davies security so it’s back to Vertonghen until Alderweireld shows he can play every game. His price isn’t much cheaper but he does have more attacking potential
Liverpool
Robertson has so far held off the challenge of a returning Moreno and a few more weeks should give a clearer picture. Very little info on the Gomez injury picture to see if TAA can get a little run. The Spurs game showed that Van Dijk and Lovren are the preferred partnership although noises around Van Dijk don’t rule out the odd rest . I still would go for Van Dijk as the most certain option.
The GK position is supposedly Karius’s now at £4.8m.
Leicester
Simpson has played in the FA Cup and the last PL game so starting to look safe and great value. Away to City is not an entry point but a good tester for him being first choice.
Newcastle
I’m hesitating on the GK position as Newcastle signed on loan a Slovakian International GK. He was on the bench for the first game but it remains to be seen if he’s a threat.
Watford
The new coach seems more defensively minded but the number of players and injuries cloud the picture and make any choice a risk. Gomes should be back relatively soon from a back injury to recover the GK position
PLAYER SUGGESTIONS FOR A GW27 TRANSFER IN
We’re looking for good defences with GW27 being a good entry point and good fixtures onward as an ideal.
A difficult week:
Chelsea – Alonso if positive words in the press conference. You have to believe the last 2 games are an aberration though not a new pattern.
Liverpool – this is a maybe as away to Southampton isn’t an ideal fixture to start. I would go with Van Dijk myself although you may want to risk Robertson.
