FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW27 PREMIUM MIDFIELDER TIPS – PLAYER RANKINGS

First it’s important to remember that each player is ranked as a transfer target for this week. So while we generally look at fixtures form and underlying stats a player who’s away to Man City is going to be ranked lower than someone home to Huddersfield for example. If possible a transfer should have a good fixture first up.

Firstly there’s a table of stats. Then there’s a bit of brief commentary on each player and their next 6 fixtures.

This is the 2nd player rankings article. There’s a defenders player rankings article . You may also find it interesting to see who the 10 top FPL managers I follow have, who the bandwagons are

STATS DEFINITIONS

Fixt Ease: The ease of the mentioned fixture range from an attacking perspective. See our GW27 fixture ease article.  I’ve gone to GW31 with the fixture ease as that’s where the fixture schedule could drastically change due to the FA Cup quarter final clashes with PL matches.

Mins per FPL Pt. The amount of minutes a player takes to earn an FPL point. The shorter and obviously lower the number is the better

ATGS – the bookies anytime goalscoring odds for GW27.

xG and xA per 90 – the expected goals and assists per 90 minutes played from the better than excellent site understat.com. See also our expected goals article

Salah

It’s hard to know what to say which hasn’t already been said about the Liverpool right sided forward I guess you would call him at the moment.  Unbelievable returns which are consistent and explosive, great underlying stats and he hoovers up bonus points.  The only negative is as we go into UCL season he like all the other players in those teams has some degree of rotation risk.  Liverpool out of the FA Cup is a help though which also means he has a game in GW31 of which he will undoubtedly set a record for captain favouritism.

Southampton (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (H)
Man Utd (A)

Sterling

The miss against Burnley shouldn’t detract from the season the Liverpool RW has been having and is not representative of his current form even if you’re trying to make something out of the fact that he’s only got 3 assists in his last 4 games and no goals.

10 goals and 14 assists with 17 bonus points along the way, returning a goal or assist in 70% of games and 7 double figure point FPL hauls is pretty spectacular stuff.  The only negative is rotation as Pep continues to pursue the quadruple.  The FA Cup 5th round tie v Wigan at least should give some chance of a games rest.

A couple of tricky fixtures after Leicester.

Leicester (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (H)
Stoke (A)

Son HM

3 consecutive blanks shouldn’t blinker anyone from from the fact that only the Southampton game was a poor one for him personally.  In the other 2 games he performed well and produced ok stats.  8 goals and 5 assists in 19 starts plus 6 as sub as he finally seems to be getting the minutes he deserves.  The signing of Lucas Moura remains a watchout as does PL rotation for the UCL matches.  However a 5th round tie vs Rochdale should give some chance for rest especially as he was the player picked v Notts County for 60 minutes midweek.

Arsenal (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Bournemouth (A)

Walcott

The Everton AM has made a good start to his career as he tries to secure his World Cup place.  2 goals and an assist plus some decent attacking underlying stats in his first 3 games.  That coupled with good fixtures makes him a decent option at the moment especially as the bus Big Sam is trying to park is looking more  like a mini cooper which might force him to think about attacking.

Crystal Palace (H)
Watford (A)
Burnley (A)
Brighton (H)

Hazard

No matter how ineffectual he can be for 89 minutes Hazard only needs that other 1 minute of a game to produce a moment of quality and then send an invoice into the fantasy premier league site for 3 bonus points.  The issue is that he’s not the most predictable or consistent point scorer with him still knocking on the door of a goal or assist in 50% of games played.  Has pens.

2 tricky fixtures after WBA at home though

West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)
Man City (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Sanchez

We know the new Man Utd LAM has the quality and he has consistently posted very good underlying stats this season.  The price for him and the allergy to bonus points (he’s only got 8 for 8 goals and 5 assists) means he hasn’t exactly screamed value.  2 games for Man Utd saw a pretty poor performance v Spurs and a goal via a saved penalty v Huddersfield.  If he retains pens that’s a good plus but there’s alot to do given his current returns, price and inconsistency.  Mixed fixtures

Newcastle (A)
Chelsea (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)

Martial

Started 4 of the last 5 and his returns when on the pitch are excellent.  Sanchez’s arrival takes his natural spot of LWM but such is his form that it’s hard to see him missing out in either a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3.

Newcastle (A)
Chelsea (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)

De Bruyne

The Man City creative force has got 7 goals and 13 assists coupled with 23 bonus points (more than any other midfielder) and he’s been on the good side of consistent and explosive as well. The only question mark is whether he can continue to produce the goals at the screamer level he has been doing.  He’s also played alot of football and will surely have to be carefully managed going forward.

Leicester (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (H)
Stoke (A)

Eriksen

7 goals and 7 assists in 25 starts isn’t setting the world alight but the last 6 games have produced a marked improvement.   We’ve not only seen 2 goals and 2 assists but the underlying stats to back this up have now been coming in spades which could mean continual improvement.

Arsenal (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Bournemouth (A)

Ramsey

A great hat trick (albeit a 3 shot one) against a hapless Everton has seen the Arsenal box to box come into the vision of FPL managers.   He does have excellent underlying stats and his 6 goals and 8 assists in 15 starts plus 2 as sub is a pretty good return.  Fixtures are tricky and how he fits in permanently with Xhaka, Wilshere and himself potentially fighting over 2 places as CMs needs to be sorted out.  It could be that he plays further forward but as yet it is to be determined.

Spurs (A)
Man City (H)
Brighton (A)
Watford (H)

Ozil

If anyone has been given the platform to step up out of the shadow of Sanchez it’s the Arsenal chief creative force.  In his last 7 games he has got a reasonable 2 goals and 2 assists but he has markedly stepped up his underlying stats.  The next 2 fixtures are tricky though

Spurs (A)
Man City (H)
Brighton (A)
Watford (H)

Mkhitaryan

Started his Arsenal career well with 3 assists and now has the Dortmund target for his assists as a team mate in Aubameyang.  Great value for an Arsenal AM, he’s just 1 game in is the unknown.  Has the Man Utd ugly duckling really turned back into the Dortmund swan?

Spurs (A)
Man City (H)
Brighton (A)
Watford (H)
