FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW28 – THE BANDWAGONS AND SINKING SHIPS

bandwagons and sinking ships, Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our fantasy premier league GW28 article where we outline and give a view on the most transferred in players so far in the gameweek (the bandwagons) and the most transferred out (the sinking ships). There’s a table of stats on each as well as some narrative on their prospects and their next fixtures

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW28 – THE BANDWAGONS AND SINKING SHIPS

BLANK GW28

GW28 is FA Cup quarter final week. Games involving teams in the quarters ill be postponed leading to a much reduced fixture list. In fact there are only 4 fixtures

Here’s the GW28 fixtures

THE BANDWAGONS

These are the 5 most transferred in players so far in the gameweek. The fixt ease is for the next 5 and 3 game weeks up to a potential big DGW in GW34 which would distort the schedule so it isn’t counted.

LlORENTE

The Swansea forward has 5 goals in the 8 games since Clement became manager returning in 3 of those games. The negative is that he’s not that consistent a returner although improved again since Clement became manager.  The 2 he got against Burnley in GW27 are the big draw in this gameweek.  He’s also now the undisputed number 1 forward for Swansea. Fixtures are good and there’s no blank in GW28.

Next 5 fixtures up to and including GW33

Hull (A)
Bournemouth (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Spurs (H)
West Ham (A)

MANE

A goal and assist to add to his 11 and 6 goals and assists already this season takes the Liverpool RAM  up to the desired 50% consistency return rate.  Good underlying stats help his cause too.  Burnley at home next is always a big attraction

Burnley (H)
Man City (A)
Everton (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Stoke (A)

LUKAKU

The Everton striker is back in the bandwagons after being in the sinking ships last week for some reason.  A great finish against Spurs in GW27 made in 2 in his last 2 games.  Has struck a reasonably good balance between consistency (just hitting the 50% mark) and explosiveness showing he can get the good hauls.  Probably the leading captain option in GW28.

West Brom (H)
Hull (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)

KANE

No doubting the Spurs forward’s form and in a couple of game weeks the fixtures are very good.  He also has penalties and has got his recent underlying stats back to a good place.  Has been the most explosive forward with the highest 10+ FPL points % of any striker but hasn’t sacrificed consistency to do so.

The only negative is that there’s no fixture in GW28

FIRMINO

It’s amazing what a home game against Burnley coupled with a goal and assist in the previous gameweek against Arsenal can do.  Prior to last week it was  3 returning games in the last 15 despite a decent set of underlying stats.

Man City (A)

THE SINKING SHIPS

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek. The fixt ease is for the next 5 and 3 game weeks up to a potential big DGW in GW34 which would distort the schedule so it isn’t counted.

IBRAHIMOVIC

Anytime you get a minus 1 score in a home match to Bournemouth and you have a bye in the next fixture then your going to feature in the sinking ships list.  It doesn’t matter whether only Costa has a better consistency return rate than you as a forward. It’s going to happen.  That’s the position for the Man Utd forward as he faced another world class goal keeping performance from a GK who’s anything but world class. The pressure from other premium strikers of Kane, Costa and Lukaku for FPL managers front 3 isn’t helping.

DEFOE

Likewise for the Sunderland striker. 3 blanks and a bye in the next gameweek when forward positions are at a premium for FPL managers isn’t helpful in holding on to your owners. A shame really as for the price he’s got a great set of stats up even allowing for the last 3. He also has pens and is guaranteed 90 mins every week. His lethal finishing can mean that his underlying stats make you think he’s doing it at an unsustainable rate but the fact is that he is pretty lethal. However nothing can detract from the fact that the recent blanks and the bye make him an easy target for a high demand area.  A shame considering the next 2 fixtures after the bye week of GW28

SANCHEZ

The Arsenal CF/LAM is the best performing midfielder in my view. The recent spat with Wenger will surely be put behind them both and Sanchez will continue performing as a pretty much guaranteed 90 minute starter. The scary thing about him is that he returns consistently but can hammer out a 10 plus FPL pointer against anyone. His underlying stats show that this is no fluke as well. If he can hold onto pens then that’s another big feather in his cap. However, it’s a lot of money to have on the bench for a bye week although having suffered it in GW26 then I’m surprised that the trigger has been pulled for GW28.  It would be worth having a return pplan though for West Ham and Palace coming up for GW32 and GW33.

PHILLIPS

When there’s only 4 fixtures of the 10 in the game week and it’s this weekend then you know you must be doing something very wrong if you’re in the sinking ships list. Well 5 consecutive blanks and 2 no shows due to injury (although he is expected to be fit for GW28) may just have been the straw that broke the camels back. No underlying stats either to make you think it’s all going to come right. Add to that Brunt taking a decent share of set pieces and possibly his place. A potential and I mean potential GW28 is the only positive factor at the moment.  On the positive side for the move the fixtures for WBA couldn’t be much more difficult so you’re not exactly looking like you’re missing some big scores

Arsenal (H)
Man Utd (A)

STERLING

You’d like to think that if you’ve returned a goal or assist in 58% of your games that you’d at least be able to finish the gameweek before getting dumped. I mean only Sanchez has been a more consistent returner than Sterling and he’s a good £3.5m more expensive than the Man City RAM. Sterling is a little bit assist based given how wide he plays.  However he really seems to have got the trust of Pep given the amount of starts he’s had. However byes are byes and with Man City having no GW28 and only 4 of the 10 fixtures on in the gameweek anyone is a target.  Also the fixtures couldn’t be much worse
