The bandwagons

These are the most transferred in and out players so far in the gameweek

Henderson

Possibly the first time I’ve seen him in this article?  A goal and an assist gave him a 14 point haul against Burnley in GW28.  That makes it 2 goals and 1 assist in the last 2 games which is always going to see transfers in.  The average over the last 5 years of his goal scoring is 3 per season.  His consistency return rate (ie the % of games that have seen a goal or assist) is 35% which is very low.  He also has nothing in the way of underlying shooting and creating chances stats.  However neither of these factors prevented YYT scoring 20 goals last season.  Can he be the box to box goal scoring midfielder in that fashion.  Can he keep scoring screamers from outside the box?  Time will tell but history and stats don’t show it.  Could actually take pens if Gerrard and Balotelli are off the pitch.

Mixed next 6 fixtures:

Swansea (A)
Man Utd (H)
Arsenal (A)
Newcastle (H)
Hull (A)
West Brom (A)

Silva

30 FPL points and 3 goals and an assist in 3 games shows his current form.  Despite 2 strikers playing he’s still managed an advanced central attacking position by cutting in from the flank.  10 goals is far more than previous seasons  but he does have an advanced position and 50% consistency return rate which is a good pointer for the future.  However if you look at the last 13 games since coming back from injury it’s 8 from 13 games with returns which is an excellent 62%.  Underlying shooting and creating chances stats are also reasonable.  Good next fixtures

Burnley (A)
West Brom (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Man Utd (A)
West Ham (H)
Aston Villa (H)

Berahino

2 goals in the last 2 games make it 12 for the season despite playing behind Brown in recent games.  Returned in 10 games out of 28 played (24 started) which is a pretty ordinary 36%.  5 goals in the last 9 looks better.  Question is whether he can keep scoring in such a defensive system but it ironically seems to suit him.   Does have pens.

Stoke (H)
Man City (A)
QPR (H)
Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)

Hazard

Dont really understand why anyone would sell him or not own him in the first place although it appears some seemed to sell him as a swap for Eriksen.  Made everyone pay with a 10 point haul against West Ham.  Good underlying stats for scoring and creating chances, great consistency and also has pens.  Also very high ownership among leading and active managers plus he has the highest % of 10+ point hauls.  All a recipe for ranking altering disaster if you don’t own him.  Mixed fixtures

Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Stoke (H)
QPR (A)
Man Utd (H)
Arsenal (A)

Austin

His fixtures going forward aren’t too bad but surely these people should have got him for the double gameweek rather than buy him now?   2 goals in his last 2 games show his current form and his consistency rate of 58% is very impressive for the price.  Also reasonable fixtures and does have pens.

Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)
Aston Villa (A)
West Ham (H)

The sinking ships

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek in order

Downing

Some tricky fixtures in the main have seen only 1 assist in the last 6 games.  Has never had any shooting stats so despite 5 goals his emphasis will be on assists and even those underlying stats have dropped off.  A 41% consistency rate for that value isn’t the end of the world it’s the form coupled with West Hams decline which is the issue.  Arsenal away is also a good time to sell as it leads into mixed fixtures

Arsenal (A)
Sunderland (H)
Leicester (A)
Stoke (H)
Man City (A)
QPR (A)

Di Maria

Where did it all go wrong?  After such a good start to the season the last 2 games have seen 2 early substitutions after he’s been seen continually giving the ball away.  I have some sympathy as at least he’s trying to create something as opposed to many in the team who are passing side to side and back at a snails pace.  However that has only emphasised how terrible he’s looked.  I can talk about underlying stats and consistency but at the moment he’s going through a small horror spell and holding on looks an option only for the very brave.  The fixtures also give very little reason to hold.

Spurs (H)
Liverpool (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Man City (H)
Chelsea (A)
Everton (A)

Ings

A little bit of an injury doubt although time should sort that out.  3 games without a return although they were against 2 difficult fixtures.  Those difficult fixtures continue and it’s a brave man to keep with him given the cheap forward alternatives

Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Spurs (H)
Arsenal (H)
Everton (A)
Leicester (H)

Cazorla

1 goal (which was a pen) in his last 5 says it all as he seems to have been played in a deeper position and like Sanchez has been another inadvertent Ozil return casualty.  Still reasonable fixtures though and has pens

West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)
Burnley (A)
Sunderland (H)
Chelsea (H)

Eriksen

Seems a little harsh to sell him even before the gameweek finishes and he’s still got 1 game to go?  A very inconsistent returner but one that has the ability to get big scores on his day.  Has a big share of set pieces and direct free kicks.  Very good at getting into the box and shooting from outside.  Despite these flattering words it’s still only 1 assist in his last 4 games.  The problem is that has normally triggered an avalanche of points in the past this season.  Apart from United next the fixtures couldn’t be much better

Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Newcastle (A)
Southampton (A)
