fantasy premier league GW29 – some early thoughts on the FFGeek team

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

With the gameweek not finishing until late Thursday night UK time I thought I would do an update article today just to give progress and talk about a few things in the FFGeek teams in our fantasy premier league GW29 article.   I’ll look at gameweek 28 so far, some issues facing the team, transfer thoughts and early captain thinking

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW29 – SOME EARLY THOUGHTS ON THE FFGEEK TEAM

So firstly it’s important to remind you I’m continuing with my 2 team theme as a result of my accidental free hit chip being used in GW23.

Team 1 is the team with the free hit chip lost.

Team 2 has the free hit team intact and was cloned from one of my alternate FFGeek teams to be my original team through a -28 point hit.

Team 2 is to help people who were following my original team as a reference point so they can continue doing so.

Team 1 will help those people who used their free hit chip earlier in the season.

Both teams require totally different strategies to navigate through the potential blank and double gameweeks up coming

Here was my team selection article going into the gameweek if you’re interested

GW28 PERFORMANCE SO FAR – FREE HIT LOST TEAM

GW28 points: 41 (average 38) Total points 1,634 Gameweek rank 2,602k Overall Rank: 60k red arrow 8k Team Value: £103.1m

Here’s the team points so far in the gameweek. An 8k red arrow to 60k OR.

So a pretty bad week that’s for sure.  Unfortunately it goes a little deeper than that as well.  Niasse subbed on 56 minutes Richarlison subbed on 55 minutes and Son coming on as a sub in the 80th minute when Spurs were looking for a winner after  Moura replaced Lamela before that,  potentially meaning Son’s 3rd in the pecking order.

Both Niasse and Richarlison did absolutely nothing.  With Niasse it’s probably the first time he’s failed underlying stats wise but for Richarlison you could go back 9 games before he produced decent stats if you were being harsh.  He’s blanked now 6 consecutive games and his last 4 minutes have been 67,64, 81 and 55.

It’s easy to say why is he in your team then?  I did ask myself that question and saw that 5 of the last 7 transfers I’ve made were injury related, one other was for the DGW22 and the last one was the rage transfer of Firmino out to Aguero.  So a GW31 blank player who’s not that expensive is something that just hasn’t got to the top of the transfer list with all the other fires to fight.

Now alot of people would have dealt with the situation by taking point deductions for extra transfers to take out loss of form players.  I personally prefer not to just take a hit as soon as a player starts to go a couple of games without returning.    Alot of managers do it successfully and I understand the theory that a hit isn’t just for that gameweek it’s for a number of game weeks.  I personally find predicting player performance one that doesn’t balance a point deduction with an additional transfers.  I’ll tend to take hits as a shield for say big favourite captain picks rather than a proactive sword.

Many disagree but the one thing I do believe is that if you take hits they have to work out otherwise you get punished. I prefer not to take the risk.  Many who sold Richarlison for Shaqiri are quids in so I take my hat off to them.  I would never have predicted a guy who went 7 games without returning a goal or assist would have scored in 3 consecutive games. 1 a header and 2 from outside the box.

Anyway so much for that diversion.  Apart from Richarlison, Niasse and Son I have a Jones injury and Ogbonna lurking.  I’m hoping Kenny makes it to GW31 but it’s looking unlikely as Big Sam seems to imply that Coleman could be back before that.  I don’t see Niasse as an urgent issue but the team is definitely limping to a GW32 wildcard.

 TRANSFER OPTIONS

I have 1 free transfer and £2.9m in the bank.

The plan has been to make 1 transfer this week and then carry over the free for GW31.

If Jones’s injury is more than just a 1 week job then he could be the priority.  However, If Son plays in the midweek FA Cup replay then it’s  even less likely that he will play vs Huddersfield so he could also be high on the list of transfer priorities.

Unfortunately all the GW31 players have pretty poor fixtures so I’m thinking that I may even transfer Eriksen for Son or a Spurs defender for Jones as they’re home to Huddersfield.  Considering I ended up holding Son for these run of fixtures it would be a blow to have to get rid of him for a different Spurs player.

BLANK AND DOUBLE GAMEWEEK THOUGHTS

So far I have Kenny, Van Dijk, Salah, Richarlison, McArthur, Firmino with guaranteed fixtures in GW31 subject to selection.

My plan at the moment is wildcard GW32, Bench Boost GW34, Triple captain GW35 or 37. Remember this team has no free hit chip.

The players with guaranteed fixtures that I want in addition to my current crop for GW31 are pretty much only a  GK and Shaqiri.  That would make 8 again subject to selection.

CAPTAIN THOUGHTS

On Salah for now but could go to Kane.

GW28 PERFORMANCE SO FAR– FREE HIT INTACT TEAM

This team is as if I didn’t make an accidental free hit ie the same as my original team and was cloned from one of my alternate FFGeek teams to be my original team through a -28 point hit. I will keep it to show how I would have navigated through the blanks with all the chips intact. I think that will be helpful for those who were using my original team as a reference point

GW28 points: 42 (average 38) Total points 1,587 Gameweek rank 2,406k Overall Rank: 198k red arrow 12k Team Value: £101.6m

So again a pretty ordinary week to say the least.  Hopefully Sterling won’t play to give me the Lingard points

Jones is probably the obvious transfer if he’s still  injured.  Otherwise there’s no one screaming out apart from maybe Lingard although he could start v Palace after scoring v Chelsea.

Here’s the lineup before a transfer.  Not sure about the Kenny v Lingard v Wilson in the lineup dilemma at the moment
