FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW29 PLAYER PICKS BY ROB REID (THE FPL VET)

Hi and welcome to Gameweek 29 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

Gameweek 28 Review

GW25 Banker – Riyad Mahrez

GW25 – 0 points (didn’t play)
GW26 – 0 points (didn’t play)
GW27 – 1 point

GW28 – 2 points – back in the first team but back with a blank. If you own I would hold though, fixtures are fantastic until the end of the season. No GW31 fixture, but going to have some doubles later on.

GW26 Banker – Phil Jones

GW26 – 0 points (didn’t play)
GW27 – 2 points

GW28 – 0 points (didn’t play) – another sick note for Jones, sparking a wave of transfers out. Still a major doubt for GW29.

GW27 Banker – Mo Salah

GW27 – 13 points (1 goal, 1 assist, 2 bonus points)

GW28 – 10 points (1 goal, 1 assist) – yet another double figure haul, he is the gift that keeps on giving. 227 points with 10 games to go – can he hit the magic 300 point mark?

GW28 Banker – Roberto Firmino

GW28 – 8 points (1 goal, 2 bonus points) – another goal for the heavily owned Brazilian, making a Liverpool double up an attractive option, especially with a nice fixture in blank GW31.

GW28 Ace – Jamie Vardy

2 points – a frustrating blank against Stoke halted his goal run but as with Mahrez above, worth holding because of the attractive fixtures ahead.

GW28 Joker – Matthew Lowton – 2 points

A disappointing result again this week – Burnley are without a win in 12 now, but again have fairly good fixtures until the end of the season. Can Sean Dyche reignite the stubborn form that saw them rise as high as 6th earlier in the season?

Gameweek 29 Picks

Banker – Lorius Karius (£4.8m LIV) – NEW

With the focus heavily on representation for the blank GW31, it’s a Liverpool Banker triple now! Karius is arguably the most secure root into a Liverpool defence that although inconsistent, has generally been quite reliable at home. The only blip is an away fixture at Old Trafford next week for GW30, but at the very least he should rack up some save points if nothing else.

Ace – Harry Kane (£12.9m TOT) – HUD

It’s a serious captain dilemma this week! Do we hand the armband to the ever-consistent Salah or do we go for the marginally more inconsistent but potentially more explosive Harry Kane? Kane netted 2 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season and I wouldn’t bank against him doing the same again.

Joker – Troy Deeney (£6.3m WAT) – WBA

Watford’s home form has improved over the last couple of weeks with wins over Chelsea and Everton at Vicarage Road and it’s bottom team West Brom who visit this week. Deeney has scored in the both the aforementioned victories and is a good bet to do the same this week against the flailing Baggies.

That’s it from me on Player Picks. Good luck this week everyone!
