FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW29 WILDCARD TIPS – OUR IMAGINARY WILDCARD

So firstly I personally wouldn’t use the 2nd wildcard if you’ve got it. I think there’s likely to be a big DGW to come, possibly in GW37.   This is unless it becomes open season on conflicting with the dates of the European games and then anything could happen.  I personally plan to wait.  However, there’s a lot of debate at the moment about best time to use.

The imaginary wildcard team fits within my £102.0m budget.

In this article there are no stats just some brief narrative on the selection below. There’s stats in the player ranking articles which can be found here using the links below

Defence and GK

I’ve stuck with the cheap GK combo in Jakupovic and Pickford for save points.  Hopefully there will be the odd clean sheet too.

In defence there’s some really good value around.  That’s my focus mixed up with the best attacking defenders.  Alonso and Coleman are the key attacking defenders.  They are likely to be in my team come close to the end of the season.  Then it’s the value picks.  Admittedly Davies will be short term to when Rose returns but worth the gamble in my mind.   Spurs have good fixtures coming up.  Jones at £4.7m is a rotation and competition gamble.  He’s in the 2nd best defence after Chelsea is worth the risk for me at a great price.  Lastly there’s Yoshida who for a reasonably good defence is good value.

Midfield

The increasing amount of value in midfield means I’m able to put out a front 8 even with my paltry £102m value.  I’ll start with Sanchez.  Arsenal are undoubtedly a bit of a mess at the moment.  Sanchez looks like a stroppy child denied his sweets.  However he is just killing the stats.  The underlying stats for recent games for example, he just buries every midfielder.  Siggy is also hard to ignore with all set pieces, his advanced position and pens.  Llorente back is also good news for him.  King with Swansea next and playing as a striking pair with Afobe is also a great option.  Not sure he will retain pens though after his miss.  They may even go back to Charlie Daniels after both him and Afobe missed them.

Then here’s HM Son as my Spurs player.  There’s alot of speculation that he may play up front in Kanes absence backed up by some warm words from Poch and his hat trick in the cup.  Worth the gamble at the price for me.

Pedro was the last player picked.  I could have gone for Antonio, Tadic or Alli or Sterling if I had more money.  With the residual cash left he seemed the best option though

Striker

Up front it was easy.  Lukaku is essential for me and then Costa also shows up well on stats so he was in.  Lastly Gabbiadini got the nod as the cheaper striker in the structure

You’ll see from my double gameweeks article that Arsenal, Southampton and Man Utd are the most likely to have 2 DGWs.  There’s alot of dot joining, supposition and assuming logic dictates in that.  Thats never to be taken for granted with the FA.  I’m not sure anyone apart from Sanchez at Arsenal warrants a place.  I’m a big Walcott fan though if he shows he becomes nailed. The Arsenal defence seems too expensive unless Gibbs can take the LB spot.  For Southampton I’ve got the 2 best although I like both Tadic and Redmond in a 4-3-3.  For United Ibrahimovic, when back from his suspension, is hard to ignore.  I like both Mkhitaryan and Mata but they are both rotation and substitution magnets at the moment
