fantasy premier league GW3 – my imaginary wildcard

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our weekly fantasy premier league GW3 imaginary wildcard article where we pretend that we’ve got a wildcard to use.  Most of you out there probably are using it so it gives the article a bit more practical purpose.  It’s meant to give picks of a bit more longevity than just the next gameweek.

Here’s the team.  Immediately underneath that I’ve given an option of 2 different players if you don’t play Alexis Sanchez.

Here’s the team:

I did do an alternative team which would see Ozil replace Sanchez which would allow funds for Shaw instead of Francis and Gomis instead of Defoe if you didn’t think Sanchez was worth it

The Core Players

Aguero, Silva and Hazard are 3 players that I mentioned earlier in my article the proven and the reliable.  These are players who have consistently performed in FPL.  Here’s the link to copy and paste into a new tab

Hazard and Chelsea generally are controversial choices at the moment but it’s only 2 games in.  However he does have relatively difficult fixtures so you may want to gamble without him and use Sanchez’s value as a way of buying him back when he does hit form.

Sanchez has only had 1 season and although you couldn’t really classify him as proven and reliable.  Last year only Silva had better returns per minute as a midfielder last season although his consistency wasn’t as good as it could be he has the class to fit into that category.

The fixture players

There’s more detail on the attacking options with good fixtures in my fixture ease article.  Here’s the link to copy and paste into a new tab

Kolarov

Kompany is undoubedly the better choice and more secure as Kolarov has competition from Clichy.  However this was to save money.  Last season only Chelsea, Southampton and WBA got more clean sheets than City despite it being a supposedly disasterous defensive season.  They’ve started the season looking far more solid with 2 clean sheets so given the fixtures they seemed the best choice at the moment.

Everton (A)
Watford (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
West Ham (H)
Spurs (A)
Newcastle (H)

Mahrez  (2 games 3 goal 0 assists)   – FPL point every 20.4 minutes in 14/15.  5 returns in 30 games 17% consistency.

A gamble given the inconsistent performances last season.  However given the returns, underlying shooting and creating chanmces stats, pen duties and fixtures he seemed a natural choice at the moment.  Vardy is another Leicester option although a striker

Spurs (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Stoke (A)
Arsenal (H)
Norwich (A)

Defoe (2 games 1 goal 0 assists) – FPL point every 23.8 minutes in 14/15.  5 returns in 17 games 29% consistency.

Good fixtures it’s just whether as a team or player he can score.  Certainly last year he was disappointing.  Lens is the other Sunderland option although is a midfielder

Swansea (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Spurs (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Man Utd (A)
West Ham (H)

Sakho (2 games 0 goals 0 assists)   – FPL point every 17.9 minutes in 14/15.   11 returns in 23 games 48% consistency

A pretty good record last season for his first given the returns and consistency.  Good fixtures now.  Midfielder Payet is another West Ham option.

Bournemouth (H)
Liverpool (A)
Newcastle (H)
Man City (A)
Norwich (H)
Sunderland (A)

The cheap remainder

Myhill

WBA are good enough to warrant a solo keeper given their clean sheet record last season and the fact that the defensive maestro Tony Pulis is in charge.  It will involve a change in October when Foster returns but so be it.  As a reserve I’ve gone for McCarthy who will at least give a couple of games before Speroni returns

Gomez

How much longevity the Liverpool cheapie has is questionable and the next few fixtures aren’t easy but in my mind he’s worth the gamble on the form shown so far.

Francis Muniesa and Martin

Here I’ve picked 3 players who are £4.5m and rotate ok to give some decent home games. Francis and Martin seem fairly nailed.  Muniesa probably has slightly more gametime risk

Here’s the fixtures:  Stoke H, WBA H, Bournemouth H, Sunderland H, Bournemouth H, Watford H

Surman

Alot of people have gone for Westwood of Villa who has set piece duties and has been prased by the manager Tim Sherwood.  He definitely has more point scoring potential.  However, with so many new players in the Villa team I’ve gone for Surman who seems less likely to change.  Surman isn’t intended to play in my FPL team he’s just if there is an injury.
