Fantasy Premier League

Here’s the FFGeek team where I talk about the transfer, as well as the team selection and captain decsions and reflect on not using my wildcard

Firstly here’s the team.  You’ll remember the transfer was early in the week.  Benteke out and Aguero in

The transfer

As I said above the transfer was Benteke out and Aguero in way earlier in the week.  This was done to avoid price changes.

The team selection

Again I’ve gone 4-3-3.  This is out of necessity and mainly because of the Sinclair situation.  After thinking about it, it’s hard to imagine that Gestede wont come in after improving the team against Man Utd so significantly.  If that wasn’t enough then Grealish is now fit which means that with Ayew joining I can’t imagine Agbonlahor even getting in let alone Simclair.  The only decision was where he goes on my bench.

So starting in defence no choice with GK.  That doesn’t worry me I think the Pulis defence can get a clean sheet against anyone.

As far as the defence was concerned there was no chance Gomez was going in away to Arsenal so after that it was straightforward and all 4 remaining defenders went in due to the Sinclair situation above.  Jones of Sunderland is the player  who potentially wont play.  Matthews is a ready made replacement and Advocaat has made noises about the entire defence being in danger of losing their place.

After that the only decision was Walcott.  I can’t see him starting.  I can even seeing him not getting on as sub.  Liverpool are bound to sit deep which wont suit his game.  I can’t not have him in the team though.

The sub lineup was the other thing that made me think.  At one stage I thought Surman would be first sub which seems a bit ridiculous as he really is 2 points and 2 points only man but thats the situation I’m in.  If Sinclair, Jones and Walcott all don’t play, which is feasible, they all could get on the pitch so it could have been alot of cogitating over nothing

The whole situation made me realise I should have played my Wildcard and at times today I’ve even thought of doing it but I think I just have to live with the decision now. I’ll talk about that more below

The Captain Decision

A no brainer.  Aguero.  Leading the polls by miles and it’s a brave man who will back against him.

Reflections on the wildcard

I have to say I wish I had used my wildcard as I said above.  I have even considered using it today but I just couldn’t.  I hate being so radically different than the managers I will hopefully be competing against down the line.  My guess is at least 7/10 of the top 10 managers I follow will have used the wildcard.  I will be nervously watching players like Mahrez, Payet, Sanchez, Ozil, Silva and Kompany/Kolarov who seem to be making up the wildcard teams.  At least tomorrow I will be able to see what the top 10 managers teams are which is one advantage.  Rooney, Mane, Targett, Hazard  and Azpilicueta have got alot on their shoulders as far as my team is concerend and are now big differentials to the wildcard teams.  Having 3 of them playing midweek previously and next week definitely isn’t ideal.  Having one who could even be on the bench in Mane for David De Gea focus type reasons  makes it even worse.

Out of interest, one of the things that I looked at today was comparing the clean sheet odds and anytime goal scoring odds of the wildcard team I would have put out against the team I have got (assuming Walcott and Sinclair don’t start).  Here was the comparison

Current team:

Myhill £4.60, Huth £3.50, Targett £3.00, Jones £3.60, Azpilicueta £2.00 Mane £3.40, Hazard £2.45, Surman £4.80, Sakho £2.40, Aguero £1.85, Rooney £1.85

Total:   £33.45

The wildcard team that was:

McCarthy £2.30, Kolarov £2.70, Muniesa £3.40, Martin £2.70, Silva £2.75, Mahrez £3.00, Hazard £2.45, Sanchez £2.05, Aguero £1.85, Defoe £2.90, Sakho £2.40

Total: £28.50

Thats a big difference.  Makes a bit of a mockery of me not making the change to the Wildcard.  At the moment I’m going to leave the wildcard to probably Saturday to avoid more price damage next week and at least give me a chance of price rises over the week to hopefully compensate.  Certainly I’ll wake up tomorrow morning expecting the worse with the final price adjustments coming through which could cause me more problems.

Any way enough of my tale of woe. Good luck tomorrow and for the rest of the gameweek
