Chicharito

2 goals in the loss to Southampton may have been in vain as far as the result was concerned but that with the good fixtures to come has established himself as a real cheap striker alternative.  As you can see from our underlying stats article only Jay Rodriguez has had more shots in the 6 yard box than Chicharito confirming his poacher credentials

Pogba

The box to box midfielder has scored in both GW1 and GW2 and added 2 assists to his tally in GW2 to boot.  He seems to have shown an excellent ability to regain possession high up the pitch and then lead the counter attack or be positioned far enough forward in order to join in himself.  Doesn’t feature in our underlying stats tables and has faced 2 of the poorest defences are the only shadows you can cast over his start.  If you want to see how he stacks up against Mkhitaryan see our comparision article here .

Hegazi

The WBA CB couldn’t have asked for a better start than 2 clean sheets and a goal in his first 2 games.  Stoke at home is also a pretty good entry point for a transfer in.  Although he has had good reviews there are 2 WBA CBs injured at the moment with both fairly close to returns.  I suspect Evans will be accommodated by Dawson moving to RB which means Hegazi’s competition will come from McAuley when he’s fit.  That’s not to say he’ll lose his place as he has played well.  It’s just that it’s an unknown at the moment

Jese

The Stoke FPL classified midfield is really a LW/CF and played 70 mins as a left sided striker against Arsenal scoring the winner.  It was a pretty impressive start to his premier league career.

Last season he started 12 games plus 4 as sub  for Las Palmas scoring 3 goals and 1 assist at a goal or assist every 290 minutes which isn’t that impressive.  He then moved to PSG where he only started 1 game plus 8 as sub scoring 1 goal in a total of 261 minutes.  None of these stats are particularly impressive although you don’t play for Real Madrid and PSG if you’re a mug that’s for sure.

However if you’re looking for shadows then it was his first game in a very different league.  The fixtures are also not good.  However he was lively and he was practically playing as a striker.

Mkhitaryan

After the difficulties of last season it’s easy to forget that in 14/15 Mkhitaryan was the player of the season for the Bundesliga for Dortmund. For a player to achieve that and not play for  Bayern Munich is remarkable.    In that season he incredibly scored 11 goals and got 20 assists.

So 2 games in we seem to be seeing the real Mkhitaryan with 2 assists in each game.  He’s also got a share of set pieces and a very advanced position.  These assists are no fluke either as his key pass stats are excellent with only Ozil having more.

As I said for Pogba you can see a detailed comparison in my Pogba or Mkhitaryan article

Zaha

The Palace winger is a pretty natural candidate for a transfer out given that he’s injured and his manager won’t put a time frame on his return.  He was highly owned at the beginning of the season which is why he tops this list.  The injury should allow Townsend to start again as he did against Liverpool.  It also saw Jason Puncheon move further forward

Walker

Sent off in fairly dubious circumstances after a 2nd yellow card Walker will now miss GW3 and return in GW4.  I’m surprised that it wasn’t appealed as it looked very harsh at best.  That should mean Danilo gets another game although after seeing him benched and Sane turning up at LWB instead it wouldn’t surprise me if Pep played GK Bravo there instead.  I’m not sure I just wouldn’t have benched Walker rather than sell him for 1 game although GW4 home to Liverpool is no guaranteed clean sheet.

Salah

You know that FPL managers are fickle when a player sees a price rise in the first gameweek after a goal and assist in GW1 and then is in the top 5 transfers out the next.  To be fair he was benched in GW2 although that was part of a general rotation policy that we will see at Liverpool as opposed to a performance related benching.  However with Arsenal and Man City next there could be worse times to transfer him out.

De Bruyne

After blanking in GW1 he had a fairly poor first half vs Everton in GW2.  To compound matters the Walker sending off saw Jesus subbed and De Bruyne moved back into a CM role.  I’m not sure that those specific circumstances warrant a mass dumping that has occurred as even the Kanes and Lukakus will go 2-3 games without returning.  However unlike Kane’s predicament the underlying stats aren’t there for comfort.  To make matters worse David Silva at £2m less played the exact same role against Everton at least as effectively.

Vardy

I did have to check this one as my recollection is that Vardy scored twice against Arsenal and did in fact see a price rise.  However he is indeeed within the top 5 transfers out.  A blank at home to Brighton isn’t helpful  and Man Utd A and Chelsea H next are good exit points at least.  Like Chicharito he’s shown his poachers instinct with only Jay Rodriguez having more shots in the 6 yard box after 2 games
