Richarlison

The Everton LAM has seemingly shaken off his inability to put the ball into the back of the net which haunted him last season and now is turning those excellent underlying stats into reality.  Great fixtures, great form backed up by great underlying stats in an attacking team

Bournemouth (A)
Huddersfield (H)
West Ham (H)
Arsenal (A)
Fulham (H)
Leicester (A)

Aguero

Showed how deadly he can be with his 3 goals and an assist 20 FPL point haul v Huddersfield.  Friday also showed the inevitable anguish you will go through every week with him as a captain option.  The fact that Pep chose to take on a deep lying defensive team with 2 strikers is a good sign for Aguero although it always comes back to the fact that Pep can come up with anything.  You just can’t predict him.  I think with you just have to take your Man City picks and hope for the best as far as rotation is concerned.

Incredible fixtures

Wolves (A)
Newcastle (H)
Fulham (H)
Cardiff (A)
Brighton (H)
Liverpool (A)

Mendy

The man is an absolute revelation, an attacking phenomenon.  4 assists in 2 games says it all.  No player has more than half the FPL  assists he has.  Seems to be so vital to the City set up as well with his very wide left position.  It’s almost as if the fact that he’s in the best defensive team of last season (in my view) for clean sheet points is a bonus.

Fantastic fixtures

Wolves (A)
Newcastle (H)
Fulham (H)
Cardiff (A)
Brighton (H)
Liverpool (A)

Alonso

The thought and some of the pre-season games was that Alonso wouldn’t be the attacking force that he was periodically last season due to Sarri lining up with a back 4.  Well 2 games 2 assists and a goal plus 24 FPL points later and it’s anything but.  These returns have been backed up by absolutely fantastic underlying stats as well.

Hazard coming back will help the situation as he will probably drift into the centre more than Pedro/Willian.

Probably the only negative is that Chelsea were an absolute defensive shambles against Mkhitaryan and Bellerin on Alonso’s left side.  That may see the manager try and remind him he’s a left back in the future although I suspect trying to reign in Alonso will be like trying to reign in an errant child in a sweet shop.

Newcastle (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Cardiff (H)
West Ham (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (A)

Mkhitaryan

With Arsenal now having a great run of fixtures Mkhitaryan suddenly stands out like a sore thumb after the Chelsea game.  That match saw Ozil play poorly and be subbed early, Ramsey on the bench as Emery changed to a 4-2-3-1 and Aubameyang still being £11m.

After a pretty mixed start with Arsenal to say the least in 17/18 he was excellent in a goal and assist 12 FPL point performance.  What’s more is he missed a sitter and now he’s played 90 minutes in both opening games.  He’s also great value at £7.0m and the fixtures are incredible.

West Ham (H)
Cardiff (A)
Newcastle (A)
Everton (H)
Watford (H)
Fulham (A)

The Sinking Ships

These are the 5 most transferred OUT players so far in the gameweek.

fantasy premier league GW3 TRANSFER TIPS

De Bruyne

Looks like the City CM will be out for around 3 months according to reports.  I think David Silva is likely to benefit gametime wise as the man to pick up the creative slack in De Bruynes absence.  That’s probably despite what Pep said about him playing less this season before the De Bruyne injury.  However you predict Pep at your own cost.

I had originally thought that Bernardo would a beneficiary as well but the sight of him playing as an RWB effectively and Gundogan slotting into the CM position made me think that it might not be so definite.

Wolves (A)
Newcastle (H)
Fulham (H)
Cardiff (A)
Brighton (H)
Liverpool (A)

Vardy

Sent off and suspended for 2 games (the 3rd is the EFL Cup) after a fairly mindless tackle in the match v Wolves.

For what it’s worth I suspect Iheanacho will lead the line for those 2 games .  However the Wolves match showed that the most likely front pairing is going to be Vardy and Maddison behind him.

Southampton (A)
Liverpool (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Newcastle (A)
Everton (H)

Eriksen

There are alot of positives with Eriksen.  History shows that he’ll probably score about 8 goals and 15 or so assists.  Add on 15 or so clean sheet points and 25 or so bonus points and you’ll end up with 200 points.  While all the way he’ll be playing 90 minutes pretty much every game and dominating set pieces.  However Eriksen doesn’t really produce the greatest underlying stats so each season you’re relying on a few screamers to top up the shooting stats and Kane’s finishing to top up the assist based underlying stats.

The first 2 games have seen the customary 90 minutes but they’ve also seen 2 blanks, ok ish underlying stats, Trippier  pushing into the direct free kick area and Kane only scoring the 1 goal.  What’s more although the average position against Fulham showed him in an advanced position I personally though he looked to be dropping a little deeper than you’d like.

Two blanks is normally enough for FPL managers to ditch anyone anyway but a game against Man Utd next (which would normally be a tricky one) is probably an extra incentive.

Man Utd (A)
Watford (A)
Liverpool (H)
Brighton (A)
Huddersfield (A)
Cardiff (H)

Sanchez

Injured and didn’t play v Brighton.  Were waiting for an assessment but Mourinho has said after the match maybe 1-2 weeks.  With Spurs next there would be worse times to exit.

Martial stepped into the LW spot with Rashford apparently staying on the bench as a step in for Lukaku if Lukaku couldn’t play 90 minutes.  I suspect any gametime that falls to Martial is enforced and will be short term only given the apparent rather fractious relationship between Mourinho and Martial

Spurs (H)
Burnley (A)
Watford (A)
Wolves (H)
West Ham (A)
Newcastle (H)

Aubameyang

I suspect there maybe some straight swapping to Aguero after Aguero’s 20 points and Aubameyang’s 2 lots of 2 points.  However Aubameyang is about to go on a serious run of good fixtures and the blank was a bit of a mirage for what could have easily been a hat trick.

The guy is a proven goal scorer and although I understand the swap I suspect it’s still not going to be pretty for sellers. Before selling I would try and at least exhaust other options.

West Ham (H)
Cardiff (A)
Newcastle (A)
Everton (H)
Watford (H)
Fulham (A)
