fantasy premier league GW3 transfers – early transfers for the FFGeek team

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Well I was forced in to using my 2 fantasy premier league GW3 transfers today rather than my preferred day of Friday due to potemtial impending price changes in my transfer targets so here they are.  Plus a few words on team structure

Well here’s the transfers.  There’s no money in the bank.  I use the excellent site fpl statistics for price prediction and it looked like Firmino or Eriksen could potentially go down tonight so I just did it anyway

Spurs midfielder Eriksen out – Everton midfielder Barkley in

Middlesborough midfielder Fischer out – Southampton midfielder Redmond in

Here’s how the team looks for GW3

The transfers

If I start with my team structure of core and fixture related players then Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Stones and Shaw feel like and unshakeable core irrespective of fixtures at the moment.  Then, I’ve set the 3 rotation cheap defenders up for a longer term than 3 games so they are set for a while yet.  I know Kone is injured but he’s not needed this week and there’s a 2 week break after GW3 for his injury to clear up. So I’m just leaving him for the moment

There’s such a choice of players this year that it’s hard to use the phrase core beyond the 4 Manchester players at the moment.  I had to get rid of Fischer with him not starting the first 2 games.  So what of my other transfer.  There was no way Hazard was going with Burnley next.  Gray after his 10 points wasn’t going anywhere Chelsea next or not.

That left Firmino and Eriksen both of whom blanked in the opening 2 fixtures as targets.  Firmino’s fixtures are terrible in the next 3.  Eriksen was subbed against Palace and is in the middle of contract issues.  He’s also been disappointingly deep in the first 2 games.  I stuck with Firmino instead of Eriksen due to his higher goal threat although I could have made a case both ways.

The next choice was who to transfer in.  Here I would normally use my fixture ease article as a starting point.  Everton have excellent fixtures and the choice was between Bolasie at £6.0m and Barkley at £7.7m.  Barkley is the CAM, has had a better start and probably has the better history of the 2.  He also has set pieces.  Bolasie though would allow me to upgrade Firmino to Payet which is attractive for at least GW4 and get Townsend in.

In the end I went for taking the best option now in my mind which is Barkley.  That unfortunately meant there was no place for Townsend due to cash.  The next best option for me was Redmond who just fitted in at £6.1m.  His fixtures aren’t great but he is playing as a striker, looked threatening against Man Utd and has good underlying stats too.  He seemed a good fit.

Unfortunately I had to do the transfers now due to there being no wriggle room and Firmino and Eriksen both having potential price drops tonight.

Team selection

No issues really even if Kone was fit his fixture is difficult as is Amats.   So Friend away to WBA looks so much better than those 2 options in a 3-4-3.  After that there’s no choice.  At the moment I’ve gone for Aguero but I will do a captain article
