FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW31 PLAYER PICKS BY ROB REID (THE FPL VET)

Hi and welcome to Gameweek 31 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

It’s normal service resumed this week after last week’s guest picks so I’ll review these then it will be back to the usual reviews next week. Wish me luck – here goes!

Gameweek 30 Review

GW27 Banker – Mo Salah

GW27 – 13 points (1 goal, 1 assist, 2 bonus points)

GW28 – 10 points (1 goal, 1 assist)

GW29 – 8 points (1 goal, midfield clean sheet)

GW30 – 2 points – a rare blank for this season’s leading points scorer. Expect normal service to be resumed this week!

GW28 Banker – Roberto Firmino

GW28 – 8 points (1 goal, 2 bonus points)

GW29 – 5 points (1 assist)

GW30 – 2 points – joined Salah in blanking this week in a tough game at Old Trafford. Leading the way as the top striker for the reduced fixture list this week though.

GW29 Banker – Lorius Karius

GW29 – 8 points (clean sheet, 2 bonus points)

GW30 – 1 point (2 goals conceded) – actually had a fairly quiet afternoon and couldn’t do much about the 2 Rashford goals. Better fixtures for the next 2 weeks.

GW30 Banker – Zanka

GW30 – 7 points (clean sheet, 1 bonus point) – not too surprising that Huddersfield kept a clean sheet after Swansea were reduced to 10 men in the first half. Palace at home next then away to fellow strugglers Newcastle and Brighton after that so could be more clean sheets on the horizon.

GW30 Aces:

Fantasy Football Geek – Eden Hazard – 3 points (midfield clean sheet) – a disappointing return for a decent fixture. No game this week, but with a possible 2 double game weeks on the horizon will be high on the shopping list for the rest of the season.

Alex – Harry Kane – 1 point – subbed off in the first half with an ankle injury and early reports regarding how long he will be absent are vague. The worry is that he’s injured the same ankle a couple of times before so if he does come back quickly, will he be firing on all cylinders?

Joe – Christian Eriksen (TOT £9.4) – 5 points (1 assist) – a solitary return for the Dane, perhaps slightly disappointing in such a high-scoring win. Blank this week but has some great fixtures to come before the end of the season as well as a potential 2 doubles. Another who stays on the radar.

GW30 Jokers

Fantasy Football Geek – Steve Mounie – 2 points – Huddersfield couldn’t break down a stubborn backs-to-the-wall Swans defensive line, but a good pick for this week with a nice fixture.

Alex – Christian Benteke – 1 point – Only played 45 minutes in what was only his second blank in the last 10 gameweeks. Again could be a nice differential pick for the blank gameweek.

Joe – Alex Pritchard – 3 points (midfield clean sheet) – As with Mounie above, couldn’t contribute to break through the Swans bus. Another one who could be a nice differential this week.

Gameweek 31 Picks

Banker – Junior Stanislas – (BOU £5.9) – WBA

3 goals and 2 assists in the last 7 and a plum fixture against bottom team West Brom heightens the appeal for Stanislas, who is also posting some good statistics. Good fixtures until GW34 when The Cherries visit Anfield, the only worry is gametime as Howe like to tinker and often withdraws him in the last quarter of the game.

Ace – Mo Salah (LIV £10.6m) – WAT

61% ownership, the highest scorer in the game, a plum home fixture against a team who The Reds smashed 6-1 at Anfield last season…need I say more? Surely going to be everyone’s captain choice this week as well.

Joker – Yannick Bolasie (EVE £6.4m) – sto

It’s been a quiet injury-ridden season from the former Palace man, but he served notice of his potential last week with an assist against Brighton. Stoke were clueless with pace out wide against City on Monday and Bolasie is likely to give similar problems this week.

That’s it from me on Fantasy Premier League GW31 Player Picks. Good luck this week everyone!
