fantasy premier league GW32 – “ones to watch” midfielders over £6.0m

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s my fantasy premier league GW32 midfielders over £6m.   I’ve based it around a table of key stats to make it easier to follow.  Ive put a key at the bottom of the table to show what each column represents although they are in the main the previous stats.  Below the table I’ve shown the next  fantasy premier league fixtures for each player to the end of the season and given a line or 2 on each.

 KEY

1.  Rank.  My order of the players with the best at the top based on the stats

2.  Time per fantasy premier league point scored this year.  This is how many minutes it takes for a Barclays fantasy premier league point to be scored over the course of the season.  The lower the better obviously.

3.  Consistency:  The % of times that the player got a goal or assist   as a % of games played

4.  Last 5 points:  The total points scored in the last 5 games

5.  Last 5 returns:  The number of times that a player has got a goal or an assist in the last 5 games played

6.  Fixture ease ranking:  The link is at the bottom of the article but essentially I’ve ranked all the teams by the ease of the first 6 fixtures.  The team with the best ranking ie 1 will have the easiest next fixtures of any of the fantasy premier league teams over the next 6 games.

7.  I’ve also added how many of the top 10 fantasy premier league managers I’ve followed.

1.  YYT

Had an unbelieveable DGW31.  Has penalties until Aguero back and although Silva played behind Dzeko most of the DGW YYT was pushed up for the latter part of the United game

2.  Hazard

Luckily a pen saved him from a blank in the 6 goal hammering of Arsenal.  That should continue as Lamps continues to be a secondary figure.  Can get a 20 point haul at any time or can make you wonder if he’s even on the pitch sometimes.  There’s no doubting his quality though.  His gametimes is as secure as you can get in the Chelsea midfield as well.  Good fixtures

3.  Gerrard

A good DGW with a fantastic free kick against Sunderland.  Very consistent performer with points coming largely from free kicks and penalties.  Some negatives though.  He’s on 9 yellow cards which means he needs to get through to GW35 without another booking or he gets a 2 match ban.  The diamond formation also lessens his attacking contribution from open playeven further.  He also seems to have lost a very good proportion of corners to Coutinho now he’s back in the side.  This cost 2 assists in the Cardiff game.  Still Liverpool are scoring goals for fun and Gerrard has kept up consistent returns all season through set pieces and pens.  Some tough fixtures but Liverpool score goals no matter what the opposition

4.  Silva

8 goals in the DGW and only 1 assist to show for it isn’t exactly a hugely successful DGW for a player behind the striker.  Could have had a hat trick against United but again couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net.  Sums up his season.  Excellent fixtures

5.  Schurrle

37 points in his last 5 games.  Only YYT can boast more.  A fantastic finisher and tailor made for Mourinhos counter attacking style.  However gametime is the risk.  I’ll repeat what I’m saying for Oscar.   Schurrle, Willian, Oscar, Salah and to a lesser extent Ramires have to fight for the other 2 spots.  In the main this season though its a battle between Schurrle, Willian and Oscar for 2 spots.   Schurrle has started 3 of the last 5 and returned 20 and 12 points in those 2 games.  Returns are exceptional and fixtures good.  The price is also a bargain.  It’s just the gametime risk.

6.  Oscar

Only Hazard in the attacking midfield has certainty of gametime.  Schurrle, Willian, Oscar, Salah and to a lesser extent Ramires have to fight for the other 2 spots.  In the main this season though its a battle between Schurrle, Willian and Oscar for 2 spots.  However Oscar has started 6 of the last 7 although hasn’t played more than 78 minutes in 6 of them.

His returns are good and positionally as a number of 10 and a good penalty box poacher his future prospects are good with good fixtures.   It just depends on whether you want to take the gametime risk

7.  Eriksen

The only really creative player in the Spurs midfield.  Obviously then Sherwood fields him out wide and plays a winger in Chadli in the centre?  However 2 goals and an assist against Saints should get him back in the team. However given Sherwoods tinkering and his history of being in and out of the team there is still some residual risk.  No returns in the last 3 before the Saints game but returned in 4 straight before that.  Has a good share of set pieces as well which will be useful with Kaboul and Vertonghen in the side.  Reasonably good fixtures.

West Brom (A)
Fulham (H)
Stoke City (A)
West Ham (A)
Aston Villa (H)

8.  Nasri

Started the last 4 and seems to have won his battle with Navas for the other flank position.  however only completed 90 minutes once in his last 9 starts.  However still far more likely to be rotated than Silva and the question is whether you think that the price difference of £1.3m is worth that.

9.  Lallana

Broke his 4 game blank streak with a goal at Spurs and only Eriksens double meant he had 2 bonus points instead of 3.  Skillful player who is the attacking hub of the Southampton team.  Needs some patience as can go 3/4 games without a return.  3rd highest ownership % also means he will hurt you when scoring if you don’t own him.

10.  Johnson

Substituted against Norwich and on the bench against Liverpool.  The Liverpool game was a little more understandable given the narrow and deep defensive stance Poyet looked to take.  Johnson did play well when coming on though and got an assist.  Also has set pieces.  Returns look good but nearly half of the points came in 4 games. In essence he’s an inconsistent player with gametime issues in a team that isn’t the most dynamic attacking team in the league thats for sure.  Whats the attraction?  Apart from Borini and Ki at a stretch he’s the only remotely attractive attacking asset in the team that has 2 DGWs to come.

11.  Mata

This is a  fixture and positional punt with him looking to play behind Rooney and nothing more.  5 games without any returns and very poor returns for the season are big negatives.   Needs a huge leap of faith on the good fixtures and the position
