FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW32 DEFENDER TIPS – PLAYER RANKINGS FOR DEFS AND GKS

There’s player suggestions at the end if you want to skip all the stats preamble.

STAT DEFINITIONS

I’ve firstly ordered the teams by what I think is their defensive strength based on this season’s stats. The stats after that are their:

fixture ease ranking so you can see who has the best fixtures to the end of the season. See our fixture ease article
best cheap secure gametime option and an attacking option so you can compare price.
GK price in as a comparison.
bookies odds for a clean sheet for GW32. Bookies information also for win and goal numbers for defensive ranking.
Expected goal information is from the excellent free site understat.com. See our underlying stats article

DGW/BGW:  This will tell you whether the team has a DGW34 or anticipated DGW37 (fixtures TBC) and whether they have a fixture in the blank 35.  A positive mention says they do.  Hopefully it’s not too hard to understand and the fixtures are below.

THE SCHEDULE

Here’s the schedule in it’s normal format . It maybe difficult to make out especially on a phone so if you’d rather have access to the original google spreadsheet click on the link. It should be set up so anyone can view but not alter. So just copy and paste it into your own spreadsheet if you want to mess about with it

Focus on a few teams

Man City could easily win the league by GW34 so who knows what Pep will do at that stage especially if they progress past Liverpool in the UCL.  Even the GK could be rotated.

Man Utd are a conundrum apart from De Gea.  I’m not sure when Jones is fit who the first choice 2 CB’s are for Man Utd.

With Heaton fit I think there has to be some risk attached to the Burnley GK position which is why I’ve blanked it.  A similar position with West Ham as Jow Hart didn’t cover himself in glory for West Ham given a chance to start.

Player suggestions

Were trying to look for players within a team with defensive strength, a good next fixture and fixtures ahead.  Whether you have a wildcard or free hit etc will have a bearing on what transfers you make but here are some suggestions:

Man Utd – good for the doubles.  De Gea would be my first choice but if you’re swimming in cash then Valencia is also an option.

Arsenal – I’m a bit sceptical about the Arsenal defence and they don’t have a DGW34 plus will be concentrating on the Europa League but Mustafi hasn’t played that many minutes this season and isn’t too expensive so maybe worth a gamble.

Burnley – You’d prefer to get them on a home fixture but away to WBA could be worse and Lowton is great value.
