Lukaku

Lukaku has started 28 games plus 1 sub appearance for 14 goals and 7 assists.  For the price though his PP90 is  exceedingly ordinary.

He has been a consistent returner though with a goal or assist in 64% of his starts.  He’s also been a consistent 90 minute selection in a team where Sanchez apart there has been alot of tinkering by Mourinho.

The fixtures and the 2 sets of doubles are good.  Add to that a potential lack of captaincy options means his ownership will likely be very high.

For me though Lukaku has 2 major areas of concern.  The first is his lack of bonus and double figure hauls with 15 and 3 respectively.  The second is his underlying stats which over the season are ok but have recently looked very very ordinary.

However given the fixtures and the lack of captain options it may take a brave manager to ignore him.  This week home to Swansea is a great time to buy

32 Swansea (H)
33 Man City (A)
34 West Brom (H)
34 Bournemouth (A)
35 None
36 Arsenal (H)
37 Brighton (A)
37 West Ham (A)
38 Watford (H)

Aubameyang

It’s hard to judge someone on 5 games but 3 goals and an assist in your first 5 games only not returning v Spurs and Man City isn’t too bad a start. Due to Europa League ineligibility he’s also likely to be fairly nailed on as a starter.  Given Arsenals good fixtures and their ability to hammer lower teams at home then it’s a pretty good formula.

Underlying stats are below my 500 mins cut off but they are ok so far although not at the fairly eye watering level they were at Dortmund.

Doesn’t have a DGW34 which is a negative for 34 bench boosters but the next 2 fixtures are so good he could be a placeholder for Kane if nothing else.

32 Stoke (H)
33 Southampton (H)
34 Newcastle (A)
35 West Ham (H)
36 Man Utd (A)
37 Burnley (H)
37 Leicester (A)
38 Huddersfield (A)

Firmino

No doubles but pretty good fixtures on the whole.

Firmino has started 27 games plus 3 as sub for 14 goals and 8 assists. He’s been pretty consistent with 14 returning games out of those 27 . He’s also been explosive as well with 7 double figure FPL point hauls. No player has more bonus points than his 27 either.

The only negative is his underlying stats where he really is over performing . He has shown he can over perform previously but never to anywhere near this extent.

32 Crystal Palace (A)
33 Everton (A)
34 Bournemouth (H)
35 West Brom (A)
36 Stoke (H)
37 Chelsea (A)
38 Brighton (H)

Vardy

Vardy has started 29 games and o sub appearances and is also a 90 minute player plus has penalties. He’s scored 14 goals and 2 assists and has gathered a decent 20 bonus points along the way. He’s also been pretty consistent for the price with a goal or assist in 15 of the 29 games. Recent form is good with 5 goals in his last 7. The fixtures couldn’t be much better.

However there are some negatives.   He’s he’s only had the 1 double figure point haul and that was in GW1.

The 2nd is his underlying stats which are not good and and not improving. In his last 10 games he’s only posted stats which are anything like acceptable twice. He has shown an ability to over perform these which means you could, if you wanted to, rationalise them away.

32 Brighton (A)
33 Newcastle (H)
34 Burnley (A)
34 Southampton (H)
35 None
36 Crystal Palace (A)
37 West Ham (H)
37 Arsenal (H)
38 Spurs (A)

Wood

Wood has just come back from injury and has yet to start in the 2 games since that.  However 2 goals and an assist off the bench v West Ham should ensure his start next. He’s started 11 games plus 6 as sub for 7 goals and 1 assist. His bonus position is good for the price with 11.

His underlying stats are reasonable for the price and the fixtures are very good.

The double in 34 and a fixture in GW35 make him attractive for those managers without a free hit.

32 West Brom (A)
33 Watford (A)
34 Leicester (H)
34 Chelsea (H)
35 Stoke (A)
36 Brighton (H)
37 Arsenal (A)
38 Bournemouth (H)

Barnes

Barnes has started the last 12 and since then has pretty much got 90 minutes or close to in every game. In total he’s started 16 games plus 13 as sub and scored 6 goals but no assists.  However a lack of bonus points has meant his PP90 is poor.   This hasn’t been helped by his propensity to pick up yellow cards where he has picked up 7.   Also when in a pair has tended to play behind the striker.

As I said above, the double in 34 and a fixture in GW35 make him attractive for those managers without a free hit.

32 West Brom (A)
33 Watford (A)
34 Leicester (H)
34 Chelsea (H)
35 Stoke (A)
36 Brighton (H)
37 Arsenal (A)
38 Bournemouth (H)

Murray

Murray has been on a great run of form with 5 goals in his last 6 matches.  Over the season it’s 20 starts plus 8 as sub which has seen 11 goals and no assists in total.  He has penalty duties which is also a big plus.  His underlying stats are a bit disappointing.

However, probably the 2 main issues are the fixtures which aren’t great once you get into the doubles and secondly despite the good run of form the last 6 matches have only seen him average 77 minutes.

 32 Leicester (H)
33 Huddersfield (H)
34 Crystal Palace (A)
34 Spurs (H)
35 None
36 Burnley (A)
37 Man Utd (H)
37 Man City (A)
38 Liverpool (A)
