fantasy premier league GW32 player picks by Rob Reid (the FPL Vet)

Hi and welcome to Gameweek 32 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

I’ll review my picks each week, with the Banker being reviewed over 4 weeks and the Joker and Ace on an individual weekly basis. Wish me luck – here goes!

Gameweek 31 Review

GW28 Banker – Roberto Firmino

GW28 – 8 points (1 goal, 2 bonus points)

GW29 – 5 points (1 assist)

GW30 – 2 points

GW31 – 7 points (1 goal, 1 bonus points) – Was a bit of an accessory to Mo Salah’s exploits (more on that later) but another return makes it 9/14 – a decent hit rate that outperforms his stats. Will be tough to transfer out despite no double gameweeks in the remainder of the campaign.

GW29 Banker – Lorius Karius

GW29 – 8 points (clean sheet, 2 bonus points)

GW30 – 1 point (2 goals conceded)

GW31 – 6 points (clean sheet) – a handy defensive return in the blank gameweek, one of only 2/8 clean sheets for this gameweek.

GW30 Banker – Zanka

GW30 – 7 points (clean sheet, 1 bonus point)

GW31 – 1 point (1 goal conceded) – a disappointing home display led to a lame defeat to Palace, costing those that banked on the Yorkshiremen for a blank gameweek clean sheet. Good fixtures until a blank in GW35 but then a double in GW37.

GW31 Banker – Junior Stanislas

GW31 – 10 points (1 goal, 3 bonus points) – 4 goals and 2 assists in 8 is a good set of returns for a low mid-range midfielder. Fixtures are good – 2 nice games then GW34 double coming up afterwards, albeit a tricky one against Liverpool and United.

GW31 Ace – Mo Salah

29 points (4 goals, 1 assist, midfield clean sheet, 3 bonus points) – Simply wow. Huge rewards for the many managers who captained him, Salah just goes from strength to strength. Must surely be a fixture in every team until the end of the season.

GW31 Joker – Yannick Bolasie

2 points – a blank, but 90 minutes played and looks good for some regular gametime with Sigurdsson injured and Rooney out of favour.

Gameweek 32 picks

Banker – Matthew Lowton (BUR £4.4m) – wba

Burnley have some nice options for the next 4 weeks. 2 ok away fixtures, followed by a double then an away fixture to Stoke in blank GW35. Lowton is a nice budget option in defence and has 3 assists this season so gives an outside chance of an attacking return as well.

Ace – Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (ARS £10.6m) – STO

The Gunners’ new signing is attracting a lot of FPL interest with seemingly guaranteed gametime and some good consistent returns in the 5 gameweeks since he signed. Stoke at home is a good fixture to back this up, Arsenal have the potential to flat-track bully anyone and Stoke are one of the poorest defences in the league.

He’s also featured in the Geeks bandwagons article

Joker – Jamal Lascelles (NEW £4.7m)

If you’re after a 1 week punt before playing your Wildcard, Lascelles could be a nice differential in defence. The Magpies have looked more stubborn in the last few weeks and Lascelles is the linchpin in their defence. He also has 3 goals this season and faces a Huddersfield team who were poor at home to Palace last time out. A clean sheet is certainly a good possibility.

That’s it from me on Player Picks. Good luck this week everyone!
