FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW33 DEFENDER TIPS – PLAYER RANKINGS FOR DEFS AND GKS

There’s player suggestions at the end if you want to skip all the stats preamble.

STAT DEFINITIONS

I’ve firstly ordered the teams by what I think is their defensive strength based on this season’s stats. The stats after that are their:

fixture ease ranking so you can see who has the best fixtures to the end of the season. See our fixture ease article
best cheap secure gametime option and an attacking option so you can compare price.
GK price in as a comparison.

Expected goal information is from the excellent free site understat.com. See our underlying stats article

DGW/BGW: This will tell you whether the team has a DGW34 or anticipated DGW37 (fixtures TBC) and whether they have a fixture in the blank 35. A positive mention says they do. Hopefully it’s not too hard to understand and the fixtures are below.

THE SCHEDULE

Here’s the schedule in it’s normal format . It maybe difficult to make out especially on a phone so if you’d rather have access to the original google spreadsheet click on the link. It should be set up so anyone can view but not alter. So just copy and paste it into your own spreadsheet if you want to mess about with it

Team focus

Man City – Anything is possible here irrespective of whether City progress in the UCL.  You roll the dice at your own risk.

Man Utd – De Gea is the best choice for me here.  Smalling has shown alot of evidence that he is the number 1 CB at the moment but with Bailly and Jones both fit it’s hard to be certain.

Spurs – I suspect the full backs will rotate in DGWs so Vertonghen is the safe option

Liverpool – Liverpool look strong favourites to go through to the UCL semis and with a top 4 place virtually guaranteed anything could help rotation and selection wise

Arsenal – Arsenal need to win the EL to get a UCL place next season.  Tonight’s full strength team shows the difficult task ahead

Player suggestions for GW33

Were trying to look for players within a team with defensive strength, a good next fixture and fixtures ahead. Whether you have a wildcard or free hit etc will have a bearing on what transfers you make but here are some suggestions:

Spurs – with 2 doubles coming up and Stoke next this is a good time to transfer in.  The issue is that Vertonghen is the only defender option and he’s expensive with little attacking threat

Chelsea – Another side with 2 doubles that have a good fixture home to West Ham to transfer in on.  Alonso would be my pick with no cash limitations.  You can save nearly £2m by going for Christensen but he’s no where near as secure.  Moses could be a middle ground at £6.4m but he is prone to being subbed and Zappacosta is a rotation risk for him.

Brighton – Again 2 doubles although terrible fixtures.  Ryan does offer an alternative for De Gea this week with Huddersfield at home.

Leicester – Also 2 doubles with a reasonably good set of fixtures.  The run around they got from Brighton last week was a little worrying but still a good time to buy if you can get over it.  Chilwell is the Morgan alternative at the same
