Hi and welcome to Gameweek 35 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

I’ll review my picks each week, with the Banker being reviewed over 4 weeks and the Joker and Ace on an individual weekly basis. With only 4 weeks left in the season, this will be the last week I’m picking a Banker. For GWs 36,37, & 38 I’ll be bringing back our guest picks again to finish of the season.

Gameweek 34 Review

GW31 Banker – Junior Stanislas

GW31 – 10 points (1 goal, 3 bonus points)

GW32 – 1 point

GW33 – 0 points

GW34 – 0 points – injured for the rest of the season.

GW32 Banker – Matthew Lowton

GW32 – 2 points (1 goal conceded)

GW33 – 1 point (1 goal conceded, yellow card)

GW34 – 3 points (game 1 – 1 goal conceded; game 2 – 2 goals conceded) A poor double gameweek haul as the clean sheets seem to have dried up for The Clarets. Still looking a great bet for 7th though in a fantastic season for Sean Dyche and his team.

GW33 Banker – Dele Alli

GW33 – 6 points (1 assist, 1 bonus point)

GW34 – 2 points – a poor DGW return from Alli, only playing 1 of the 2 fixtures as Poch rested him for the Brighton game in preperation for the FA Cup semi. No fixture this week, but a second double to come in GW37 – will he face rest and rotation for this? This could hinge on if Spurs win this weekend.

GW34 Banker – David De Gea

GW34 – 9 points (Game 1: 1 save point, 1 goal conceded; Game 2 – clean sheet) – Overshadowed a little by Chris Smalling’s returns, it was still an ok GW for the United stopper despite the surprise defeat at home to West Brom last Sunday. The Bournemouth fixture thankfully provided a clean sheet and although it’s blank this week, there’s still the second double in GW37 for the Spanish star.

GW34 Ace – Alexis Sanchez – 2 points

A highly disappointing return for the Chilean. He was one of many United players who under-performed against The Baggies and was subsequently benched with no appearance for the trip to Bournemouth. His place may be in doubt for the FA Cup this weekend, which would cast a serious shadow over whether managers should hold such a high-priced player for the rest of the season.

GW34 Joker – Charlie Austin – 2 points

A sub appearance in each game was slightly baffling, especially the latter fixture versus Leicester. He’s The Saints top scorer this season – why leave him on the bench when you’re desperate for goals? Either way, Southampton are in dire straits now and they may even be relegated before the second double in GW37.

Gameweek 35 Picks

Banker – Ederson (MCI £5.6m) – SWA

It’s another Manchester double this week, but this time it’s newly crowned champions City who lead the way. There’s 5 fixtures left for the Citizens, beginning with profligate Swansea at home. This is a game that looks primed for a City clean sheet and Ederson looks the safest route into the City backline, both this week and until the end of the season.

Ace – Raheem Sterling – (MCI £8.7m) – SWA

A double figure haul against Spurs made him the second player to reach 200 FPL pts this season, a phenomenal return for someone who maybe hasn’t been given the praise he deserves this season. He now sits on an amazing 17 goals and 13 assists and will fancy his chances of adding to hi stally this weekend, where City should be in a celebratory mood after the clinching the title last week.

Joker – Ayoze Perez (NEW £5.3m) – eve

The Magpies look safe after a fine win against Arsenal last weekend and visit Goodison Park next to face inconsistent Everton. Perez has 3 goals and 2 assists in this last 3 games and with only 2.6% ownership could be a nice differential for managers deploying their Free Hit chip this week.

That’s it from me on Player Picks. Good luck this week everyone!
