fantasy premier league GW35 review – Saturdays games

Fantasy Premier League, Gameweek analysis

Here’s the fantasy premier league GW35 review for Saturdays games.  I’ve decided to change the gameweek review articles to make them easier to read.  There’s no graphics now just a paragraph or 2 on the relevant aspects of each game.

fantasy premier league GW35 review – Saturdays games

Southampton 0 Hull 0

With Southampton having a DGW36 this was a vital game to assess their player options.  Apart from defence it was a pretty dismal presentation by them.

For those like me who went for Gabbiadini as a captain choice due to Hull’s away form and his impressive, if limited data, stats then this was a desperately disappointing afternoon.  He did virtually nothing and rather than be joined by Long was subbed for him on 59 minutes would you believe.

Tadic missed a pen and although he recorded good shot stats he only really had 1 decent chance.  Ward Prowse started on the bench which was hugely disappointing.  Redmond was on the bench last week and did nothing in this game anyway.  The defence however performed well with both cheapie CBs Stephens and Yoshida starting

Hull are one of the teams without a DGW so are of limited interest.  For the record this was a good defensive performance especially by Harry Maguire.  Grosicki hit the post with a freekick and did his case no harm.  Markovic was disappointing.

Stoke 0 West Ham 0

Neither team have a DGW so again the interest in them is pretty marginal.

A bit of a strange West Ham team with Cresswell, Byram, Noble and Snodgrass all on the bench.  A pretty entertaining game despite the score.  I’ve been critical of the West Ham defence but this is 2 consecutive clean sheets although 19 shots conceded is a pretty hairy number.

Arnautovic has been the main draw for me in the Stoke team and in all that shot activity he was disappointing threatening little.  He created chances but only had 1 goal scoring chance.

For the record, 2 midfielders played quite forward and had chances for West Ham in Ayew and Lanzini.  Berahino and Shaqiri probably had the best chances for Stoke

Sunderland 0 Bournemouth 1

Sunderland have a DGW and potentially had some cheap assets attraction.  Being relegated will probably mean swerving any of these.

Defoe did his best to try and save them and adopted a shoot on sight policy.  He only really had 1 clear cut opportunity though.  How much he will play now they are down remains to be seen.

Both fringe assets Anicehebe and Khazri were disappointing.

For Bournemouth it was another fantastic performance by Josh King who, apart from the goal, hit the bar and had a shot cleared off the line.  He will be hard to remove from wildcard squads even without a DGW.

WBA 0 Leicester 1

Both teams have a DGW but such is WBA’s form that it’s hard to consider anyone.  Leicester are away to Man City and home to Spurs which limits their DGW interest.

Fletcher on the bench was on the only surprise in the lineups.  Morgan not being fit wasn’t a surprise.

WBA dominated the game shots and possession wise but that’s pretty much par for the course for Leicester.  Vardy scored to capitalise on a mistake but that was pretty much all he did in the game.  Mahrez went close once but that was all he did and Albrighton did absolutely nothing which isn’t encouraging for the DGW37 potential cheapie.

For WBA only Rondon offered any threat

Crystal Palace 0 Burnley 2

Neither of these sides have any DGW interest.

With Dann and Sakho injured the Palace CB’s became Kelly and Delaney which had a big negative effect on the game as they performed badly against Vokes, Barnes and Gray.  No real surprises in the lineups.  Van Aanholt started much to the annoyance of those who had him for DGW34.  The rotation of the Burnley strikers continued with Gray on the bench this time.

Barnes scored but only had a couple of chances plus a goal ruled out.  Vokes had the most chances despite being the only one of the 3 who didn’t score.  A bad touch when through on goal was his best chance wasted.   Gray scored as a sub when put through on goal

Zaha was lively but had few chances.  He was let down by the officials who ruled him offside when clean through and then fouled by Heaton (who was excellent) to prevent a goal. He also had a close call for a penalty denied.

Benteke was disappointing.

That’s it short and sweet.
