fantasy premier league GW35 review – Sunday

Fantasy Premier League, Gameweek analysis

Here’s some points of interest from fantasy premier league GW35

Sterling

Played again in a central forward position and got 2 goals and an assist.  Found space as well brilliantly and was also excellent on the counter attack.  The big news was that notwithstanding the injury to Sturridge, Sterling held this central advanced position.  This is a good point forward for the rest of the season.

Ramsey and Ozil

Ramsey with a goal and an assist was the standout midfielder.  Again he showed how good he was on the counter attack and also in finding space in structured attacks in possession. His involvement was also fantastic.   Ozil in his first game back,  despite no returns and pretty ordinary stats, did well in linking play and seemed to take the pressure off Cazorla who was also excellent.  Ramsey has been promising since he came back but now he looks an excellent pick for excellent fixtures.

Newcastle (H)
West Brom (H)
Norwich (A)

Podolski

Now 26 points and 4 goals in 2 games.  He’s the reverse of Giroud in some ways.  Doesn’t need many chances to score and is an excellent finisher.  Hard to see past Rooney, Aguero and Suarez for DGW37 but Podolski at £7.7m is a cheap alternative with good fixtures

West Brom (H)
Norwich (A)

Mata and Rooney

The 2 main targets for United for DGW37.  Both were incredibly disappointing, especially Mata.  Although Mata was broadly central and saw a lot of the ball he did very little with it, barely getting a shot or creating a chance.  The opposition were far better than the Norwich, Hull and Sunderland that they will face but this is the type of situation where  he is supposedly meant to unlock teams.  Everton sat deep and counter attacked, almost like teams do at Old Trafford which is where United have been hopeless at breaking teams down.

Rooney had 1 gilt edged chance to score but apart from that was a victim of the lack of chances created.

DGW36 and DGW37 is so attractive on paper but games like today aren’t helpful.

Mirallas

Even counting the blank and a 23 minute substitute appearance its 30 points made up of 3 goals and an assist in 5 games.  Making the best of the rotation problem.  Tricky fixtures though.

Southampton (A)
Man City (H)
Hull City (A)

Coleman and Baines

The advantage of attacking defenders.  11 and 15 points respectively against United said it all.  It’s also 3 clean sheets in the last 4 games so getting the basics right.  Tricky fixtures now though

Good luck for fantasy premier league GW35 Monday
