fantasy premier league GW36 – some early thoughts on the FFGeek teams

,

Here’s some early FFGeek team thoughts in this fantasy premier league GW36 article. We look at the gameweek 35 , transfer thoughts, DGW37 thoughts and early captain thinking

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW36 – SOME EARLY THOUGHTS ON THE FFGEEK TEAMS

So firstly it’s important to remind you I’m continuing with my 2 team theme as a result of my accidental free hit chip being used in GW23.

Team 1 is the team with the free hit chip lost.

Team 2 has the free hit team intact and was cloned from one of my alternate FFGeek teams to be my original team through a -28 point hit.

Team 2 is to help people who were following my original team as a reference point so they can continue doing so.

Team 1 will help those people who used their free hit chip earlier in the season.

Both teams require totally different strategies to navigate through the potential blank and double gameweeks up coming

Here was my team selection article if you’re interested

GW35 PERFORMANCE – FREE HIT LOST TEAM

GW35 points: 54 -4 (average 30) Total points 2,076, Gameweek rank 339k, Overall Rank: 28k, green arrow 1k, Team Value: £102.4m

Here’s the team points from the gameweek. 54 -4 points. Ranked 28k OR from a 1k green arrow

Chips wise I have the Bench boost left 0nly. That will be used in GW37

So a gameweek that I was dreading ended up with the smallest of green arrows and a decent gameweek rank of 339k.  The 4 point deduction as a shield to protect myself against Sterling was a success as well.  Funnily enough the player I was wondering why I transferred in of Fabianksi bought in 9 points.  I wonder when the last time that happened to a GK who lost 0-5.

Burnley and Newcastle were disappointing but not unexpected and at least with Tarkowski’s assist I got something

Transfer thoughts, DGW37 and captaincy plans.

At the moment my plan is not to do a transfer but leave it until DGW37 with 2 transfers to maximise flexibility for my bench boost.

The only players that don’t have a DGW37 are the 3 Burnley lads plus Salah.  Unfortunately the low values make them a difficult transfer out as I expect Salah to stay given all his chit chat about the golden boot and records.  It just needs more thought than I’ve done now and isn’t simple as the cheaper teams with 2 fixtures haven’t got easy games.

The captain will probably be Salah if the twitter site that leaks the lineups says he’s starting.  Kane will come into it depending on the polls as well.

The team lineup before the transfer

So not totally sure about the lineup yet.  The question is whether I go double Burnley defence and sacrifice either Wood or Lingard.  I also think Kenedy on the bench is a bit of a shame as well.  Given the bench depth I’m relaxed about not making a transfer.

GW35 PERFORMANCE – FREE HIT INTACT TEAM

This team is as if I didn’t make an accidental free hit ie the same as my original team and was cloned from one of my alternate FFGeek teams to be my original team through a -28 point hit. I will keep it to show how I would have navigated through the blanks with all the chips intact. I think that will be helpful for those who were using my original team as a reference point

GW35 points: 70 on FH (average 30) Total points 2,017 Gameweek rank 34k Overall Rank: 102k green arrow 70k Team Value: £100.5m

Here’s the points. 70k green arrow to 102k OR.

The chip plan is to triple captain Kane GW37.  That will be the last of this teams chips

So the free hit couldn’t have gone much better except for Chambers coming on with 2 minutes to go as that blocked off Tomkins clean sheet.

The twitter site predicting (I mean leaking) the Liverpool lineup and Man City playing a nearly full strength team helped the situation thats for sure as the risk area wasn’t in points but in the lineups.  Also Wenger’s hesitation about Aubameyang also came true and I was glad that I ddn’t go for what I thought could be the supposed safety of Ozil.  Btw how is he ill so much?.  Is that a way of being rested for 1 game to avoid any stick from anyone?

Add to that a goal from Arnautovic and a clean sheet from Pickford and things couldn’t have gone much better.  That was reflected in a quite mind boggling 34k OR.  Amazingly it wasn’t the best of the season which came in a 9k gameweek rank wildcard.

Transfer, DGW37 and captaincy thoughts

This is easier to talk about with the lineup pre any transfer:

So the tricky part is that the team reverts back to the pre free hit team which means no City players.  On the other hand it makes it very easy in that the transfer will pretty definitely be Jesus in this week.  The question will be whether I transfer out Lukaku or whether I take Austin out for him. If I take Austin out then to fund it I need to take Mahrez out for Tom Carroll.  That in turn would force a 4-3-3 effectively with a defence not greatly suited to it.

Is keeping Lukaku worth that sacrifice?  I have my doubts whether he falls into the category of a player needing a shield against in GW37.  His fixtures are good in Brighton away and West Ham away but whether there will be a ton of goals is questionable.

At the moment I’m probably just going to transfer Jesus in for Lukaku and then if Austin is benched again in 36 he will be the main target to fix..

As for DGW37 with no bench boost ideally I’d like 10 DGW37 players plus Salah.  Lewis Cook and Lowton at the moment are the only players in the 15 who don’t have  2 games in 37 apart from Salah so there’s no need to target anyone to add to the DGW37 total I can transfer anyone I want.

Captain will be Salah I expect if it seems like he will start.  Kane is the other option and the polls will be interesting

  1. Geek, great stuff, one comment, Burnley don’t have DGW in 37 they have only away game vs Arsenal , I am stuck with 3 burnley players + Lewis Cook + Salah + Robertson.., don’t have chips no more so I only need 11 DWG players..

For another subject, Liverpool vs Stock is the first game in Saturday, lineups will be around 65 minuts before the game, if Salah will not start , and in GW 37 he has only one away game VS Chelsea , don’t you think it will be the right time to take him out?
1 game as a starter (not including GW38) against 3 ga,es for exmaple to Ericksen – Watford (H) West Brom (A) Newcastle (H)
    What do you think?

    • Yaniv, thanks for the spot which I have corrected. You make a good point re Salah if he isn’t in the GW36 v Stoke lineup and certainly I’ll be mulling that over

Thanks again and good luck this week

  2. Great article as always, I currently have 11 DGW37 players but with big questions marks over some (particularly in defence)! Can you reveal the twitter site leaking starting line ups?

  3. Is it possible that you could point to a strategy for myself that still has BB and TC as I am trying to keep off a late charge in my mini-league from someone who activated their WC for DGW37?

I want to use my BB in the DGW and use the TC either this week or the final GW – if so, what should the BB transfers be and the TC selection either this week or the last week?

  4. Pierre take TC this week ,try Salah if he starts (it will be in tw before time) if not it has to be kane

  5. Very interesting as always!

I need some advice , I still have my tc and bb chips available. I plan to bb in gw37 but am not sure when to tc – it’s tempting this week to triple captain Salah against Stoke but I am worried about him being rested – also gw38 to can sometimes be a goal fest. What do you think? Thanks!
