Hi and welcome to the fantasy premier league GW36 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

I’ll review my picks each week, with the Banker being reviewed over 4 weeks and the Joker and Ace on an individual weekly basis. With only 3 weeks left in the season, there will be no further Banker picks. Instead, for GWs 36,37, & 38 regular contributors Joe and Alex will be providing a Guest Pick each week along with a Guest Pick from The Geek himself. Wish us luck, here goes!

Gameweek 35 Review

GW32 Banker – Matthew Lowton

GW32 – 2 points (1 goal conceded)

GW33 – 1 point (1 goal conceded, yellow card)

GW34 – 3 points (game 1 – 1 goal conceded; game 2 – 2 goals conceded)

GW35 – 2 points (1 goal conceded) – Burnley missed out on another clean sheet and have frustrated may managers through the last few weeks with their run of single goal concessions. No double in GW37 will tempt many managers to offload assets now, though it might be worth waiting until after this week where they are at home to Brighton.

GW33 Banker – Dele Alli

GW33 – 6 points (1 assist, 1 bonus point)

GW34 – 2 points

GW35 – Blank

GW34 Banker – David De Gea

GW34 – 9 points (Game 1: 1 save point, 1 goal conceded; Game 2 – clean sheet)

GW35 – Blank

GW35 Banker – Ederson

GW35 – 6 points (clean sheet) – A somewhat expected clean sheet in City’s title procession, though he was outshone by counterpart Fabianski with the Pole amazingly picking up 9 points in a 5-0 defeat courtesy of a penalty save, and a raft of save and bonus points. Ederson should be nailed on for the rest of the season with back-up Bravo in the Guardiola Wilderness. A handy route into a winning team with great fixtures until the season’s end.

GW35 Ace – Raheem Sterling

11 points (1 goal, 1 assist, midfield clean sheet)

Another fine display from City’s form player, making it 18 goals and 14 assists for the season. Unlucky not to get more as well, would have had the assist for the Jesus penalty and possibly could have had another. Looks a good option for the last few weeks, with little incentive for Pep to rotate.

GW35 Joker – Ayoze Perez

2 points. Blanked and had a bit of an off night, misplacing a pass for Slimani in the first half that would have been high on the xA scale had it been accurate and suffering from some poor touches in and around the box in the second half. That being said he still managed a good number of efforts on goal and he’s still a good budget striker option for the last few gameweeks with a double to come in GW37.

Gameweek 36 Picks

With no room for 4 weeks of review as I said above there will be no further Banker picks.

Ace – Harry Kane (TOT £12.9m) – WAT

Spurs and Kane still have plenty to play for, despite being knocked out the FA Cup last weekend. They still need to cement their UCL place for next season and Kane still harbours hopes for reeling in currently leading scorer Mo Salah in his bid to retain the Golden Boot once again. Sir Harold has been a prolific scorer in the latter weeks of previous campaigns and Watford’s visit to Wembley offers him another chance to boost his tally against one of the leagues poorer defensive teams.

Joker – Jordan Ayew (SWA £5.3m) – CHE

The Swans are still battling to secure safety and face the dethroned Champions from 16-17 in the late game this Saturday. Chelsea do have some bad memories of the Liberty (I suspect Eden Hazard still isn’t talking to the Swansea ballboys) and I’d expect a feisty welcome awaits them in South Wales. The Swans have been short of goals this season, but Jordan Ayew has looked one of their more dangerous players and I’m backing him for a return this weekend.

Joe’s Guest Pick – Dusan Tadic (SOU £6.2m) – BOU

Here are Joe’s thoughts:

I fancied taking a real punt this week and have settled on the underlying stat king himself, Tadic. He has flattered to deceive during his time in England, often posting great stats and showing some nice touches, but ultimately never really delivering the FPL points that managers are looking for. Nonetheless, I am backing him to buck this trend during a promising fixture this weekend against Bournemouth who traditionally have a rather leaky defence. True to form, they have conceded 21 goals in their last 9 games. Southampton are fighting for relegation and surely will be eyeing up this match as a key opportunity to pick up some points with Tadic hopefully leading the way following his goal in DGW34.

Alex’s Guest Pick – Ayoze Perez (NEW £5.4m) – WBA

Here are Alex’s thoughts:

Ayoze Perez had 5 efforts on goal last week which was more than any player. Over the last four he has had 13 attempts on goal with 11 coming from within the box. Newcastle have looked a far better team and with two nice fixtures to come; WBA (h) and Watford (a) which is part of the double game week he looks a nice pick. And all for only 5.4!

The Geek’s Guest Pick – Gabriel Jesus (MCI £10.3m) – whu

Here are The Geek’s thoughts:

The main attraction with Jesus is, undoubtedly,  the relative certainty of selection that the likely season ending injury to Aguero brings. There’s also the fact that 11 other Man City players have played more minutes than him so far this season. These two facts point to him being one of the few Man City players who you could bet on playing both games in DGW37.

Since coming back from injury he’s started 4 matches for 3 goals and 3 assists returning a goal or assist in each match. He’s up against a West Ham team that struggled against the press and counter attack of Liverpool and Spurs earlier in the season conceding 4 and 3 goals respectively.

That’s it from me on Player Picks. Good luck this week everyone!
