fantasy premier league GW37 – a few words on the gameweek to date

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Fantasy premier league GW37 rolls on to Thursday this week with today being a rest day for want of a better word.   It’s also a public holiday in the UK if you’re reading this from elsewhere.  Here’s a few words on the gameweek to date with the FFGeek teams at the centre of the thoughts

So the thing that stood out in the gameweek so far was the poor performance of some of the double gameweek teams.  Man Utd, Spurs and Man City were at the forefront of FPL managers teams but all performed poorly.  Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham performed well but were less represented.  Perhaps the biggest beneficiary were those managers who went for Arsenal assets and especially Aubameyang.  Hopefully some FPL managers picked him up from my imaginary wildcard article. If you looked at the scores at the end of the day you would have thought that the Man City and Arsenal game results were around the wrong way.

The one positive thing about the game week is that if Chelsea beat Huddersfield, which was a formality until they drew with Man City, then Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea will go into GW38 with a full strength team as nothing will be settled in terms of the top 4.  Man Utd on the other hand have a top 4 place settled as of now. If Man Utd get a point at West Ham on Thursday that will seal 2nd.  Then who knows what team we could see from Mourinho in GW38.  This is even more probable with the game being against Watford who also have nothing to play for.

Here’s the link to my FFGeek team selection article for GW37

So a pretty poor week although not a rank disaster with all the DGW teams to play again.

Kane was a big disappointment with a blank with really the chance that hit Fosters head being the one that should have scored.

At least the disappointment wasn’t compounded by Jesus scoring.  I suspect with the amount of captains and triple captains thrown on him the blank was the best thing that could have happened to him from my teams perspective.  The 2 players that I put in for late hits both produced although both are now injury dates and Chambers also brought home a clean sheet.

Christensen didn’t start which wasn’t a total surprise although the Huddersfield game is the real defensive prize so hopefully he starts for that.

Lingard was also on the bench.  I suspect given the performances of others though he will start the West Ham game.  To me he gets forward sufficiently to always be a threat although he hasn’t produced decent stats in his last 3 starts.

Austin put in his 3rd consecutive disappointing performance with just 2 shots from outside the box and was subbed in the 70s again.

Newcastle lost to Watford also in a pretty poor performance especially in the first half although both Kenedy and Dummett are fillers rather than there for expectation

GW37 PERFORMANCE TO DATE –  FREE HIT INTACT TEAM

GW37 points: 21 with TC (average 34) Total points 2,084 Gameweek rank 5,335k, Overall Rank: 144k, red arrow 32k, Team Value: £100.8m

Here’s the team 21 points for a 32k red arrow to 144k

I won’t repeat what I said about the common players to both teams above so if you want that but follow the free hit intact team then I suggest you scroll upwards.

The only good thing so far has been the fact that I didn’t take any hits for what has been a quite abysmal gameweek so far.  It’s a sad state of affairs when the only player to have returned is Ryan who’s on the bench and won’t come off.   Man City drawing 0-0 was especially a disaster

However, the saving grace is there are still 6 more games to go.  The one thing that has given me hope though is that there have been a few occasions this season where gameweeks have swung dramatically another way after a bad start so I’m philosophical as opposed to despondent at the moment.

My main worry is that both Silva and Sterling could be rested against a safe Brighton.  I would be very surprised if Jesus is.  However, it’s possible, I guess, that Silva could play and then be given GW38 off to go back to Spain.

The week ahead on FFGeek

The gameweek doesn’t finish until Thursday with GW38 condensed into all games played at the same time at 3pm on Sunday 13 May.  That means the gameweek starts at 2pm UK time.

I will be putting the majority of articles after the end of GW37 starting on Friday and over the weekend up until the deadline.  The captain poll will also start on Friday as I think putting it up earlier will give seriously flawed results.

There will be still be other articles before Friday but the concentration will be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Hope the gameweek is going well for you and if not,  lets hope for a better results than the week so far
