Stats definition:

PP90: The FPL points per 90 minutes played.

ATGS/CS odds GW37: Anytime goal scorer odds or clean sheet odds for defenders for GW37.  There are no ATGS odds available for the 2nd game.  I have used team to win odds in the next column but some of those are still not available.

Fixture ease: The fixture ranking by difficulty for GW37 to the end of the season. See our fixture ease article

DGW37 – Here I positively say whether they have 2 fixtures in DGW37.

U Stats position rank. The ranking from an attacking point of view for their FPl position of Fwd, Mid or Def .  I’ve used the ranking from last weeks underlying stats article as the gameweek has yet to finish.

Jesus

A full strength side against West Ham in GW36 and alot of words from Pep which hint at strong sides to the end of the season are good gametime signs for the rest of the season.  Jesus seems to have no impediments to playing every game with Aguero injured and Jesus having had limited minutes this season with rotation and injury.  Pep would have to play a midfielder as a false 9 for Jesus to miss out.  It’s a comment on Pep’s unpredictability that it’s impossible to rule that out.

Having started 17 games plus 9 as sub for 12 goals and 7 assists he has a pretty healthy points per 90 plus very good underlying stats to back it up.  His recent form is also good with 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 3 games

38 Southampton (A)

Sterling

A triple assist in the game v West Ham as his season continues to attract superlatives. 18 goals and 17 assists from his 27 starts plus 4 sub appearances.  He’s returned in 22 of those games which if you count the sub appearances is a very impressive 71%.

In terms of recent form it’s 3 goals and 7 assists in his last 6 games returning in every one of the 6 matches.  His underlying stats totally back him up with only Salah having better underlying stats as a midfielder.  He’s a little poor on bonus with only 19 but that seems to come with some players with high shot volumes.

His only limitation is unknown gametime with the league won and a high amount of minutes played this season.  However as I said above Pep has talked about continuing to play strong teams.  Pep also talked about fairness to relegation threatened teams which will also make it difficult to put out a weakened team bearing in mind the opposition ahead.  I expect 1 or 2 changes for rotation though and Sterling could be at risk for at least 1 of the 3 remaining games.

Smalling

To me De Gea is the most secure player in the United defence and even though Smalling has started the last 13 matches it doesn’t take away from the fact that there are 5 other  potential CBs if Mourinho wants to rest him in 1 of the DGW37 games.  However if you’re looking to double up with De Gea and don’t either have the money or inclination to spend it on Valencia (who also could be rotated) then he is the next best option.

Only Burnley have overperformed their xGA to a greater extent than Man Utd and it’s no coincidence that the 2 form keepers of the league are largely responsible.  De Gea looks like he can single handedly bring in clean sheets but although he maybe close, he’s not Superman.  The big positive though is that the fixtures couldn’t be much better from the clean sheet perspective.

37 Brighton (A)
37 West Ham (A)
38 Watford (H)

Eriksen

Spurs have 3 excellent fixtures to finish the league on and I imagine if you’re even thinking of Eriksen you have Kane already as he is probably the priority as a likely strong captain favourite.  Spurs, also, are not safe for a top 4 place with Chelsea who are not giving up a UCL spot without a fight.  They are in fact only 2 points ahead with a game in hand.

Eriksen’s set piece and creative role probably makes him the most gametime safe in the side and that’s emphasised by the fact that only Vertonghen and Dier have played more minutes in all competitions than Eriksen.  Assuming Spurs do secure their top 4 place then you could argue he could be in line for a rest but he’s a difficult man to replace in the side.  Lamela is probably the closest but hardly a like for like.

37 West Brom (A)
37 Newcastle (H)
38 Leicester (H)

J Ayew

If you’re looking for a cheap DGW striker then with J Ayew you’re at least getting pretty guaranteed gametime and 90 minutes plus good fixtures to the end of the season.

You’re certainly getting pretty ordinary returns and underlying stats.  He’s got just 7 goals and 2 assists for his 30 starts plus 3 sub appearances.  He’s returned in 9 of those games although has got a fairly respectable 12 bonus points at least for those returns.  The underlying stats don’t hint that he’s been unlucky either.  It is what it is,  a cheap fixture play but the fixtures couldn’t be much better for that gamble.

 The Sinking Ships

These are the 5 most transferred OUT players so far in the gameweek.

fantasy premier league GW37 TRANSFER TIPS

Salah

The first of 4 Liverpool players in the sinking ships category.  It seems that a tricky away game to Chelsea as 1 fixture instead of 2 and the 0-0 draw at home to Stoke have seen FPL managers abandon their Liverpool assets.

However, Any concerns now about Klopp resting players is probably going to be out the window with Chelsea winning and Liverpool stumbling at the weekend.  Chelsea are 6 points behind Liverpool with a game in hand and if they beat Liverpool would have the ability to go equal on points, albeit with a lesser goal difference. However the one warning is that should Liverpool beat Chelsea then Klopp may take the opportunity to rest players should they go through to the UCL final.

To be fair to Salah the game against Stoke was only his second blank in the last 11 games and it wasn’t for lack of chances.  His magic touch just deserted him for 90 minutes.

Salah’s results speak for themselves this is really about the alternative options and the Chelsea fixture and less about gametime than previously.

37 Chelsea (A)
38 Brighton (H)

Firmino

If Salah just lost his radar against Stoke then Firmino may as well not even turned up as he failed to take a single shot against Stoke.  1 returning game in his last 5 which included 2 sub appearances makes him a far more understandable transfer out than Salah even if he also has probably seen the gametime risk reduced as I spoke about Salah above

37 Chelsea (A)
38 Brighton (H)

Lukaku

Lukaku went off with an injury in the 50th minute vs Arsenal at the weekend and when asked about it Mourinho talked in the context of the FA Cup final which is 3 weeks away.  Having secured the top 4 that may have just been Mourinho focusing on the most important match as he was also saying he didn’t know the extent of the injury.  1 goal in his last 4 starts for someone costing £11.5m isn’t a great return for FPL managers.  Add to that only 3 double figure FPL point hauls, an ordinary points per 90 and potential FA Cup related rotation and you can see why FPL managers are shuttling him out the door.

One thing not to lose sight of though, is that if he is fit, the fixtures are very good

37 Brighton (A)
37 West Ham (A)
38 Watford (H)

Robertson

The one area that Klopp does have depth in is the full back position.  It’s worth remembering that Robertson is only in the side through the injury to Moreno and even if he didn’t want to play Moreno he has used Klavan there.

Robertson has been sacrificed in the premier league for the UCL games and has only featured in 1 game of the last 4.  I would be surprised if he didn’t play v Chelsea but that’s hardly a clean sheet banker anyway.  If Liverpool progress in the UCL you’d have to worry about his place in the final home game

37 Chelsea (A)
38 Brighton (H)

Mane

Didn’t feature at all v Stoke but expected to be fit for the UCL match and also the Chelsea match where it would be hard to see him not play.  4 goals and 3 assists in his last 8 games.  There are 2 negatives though.  The first is his lack of ability to get bonus.  He’s only got 8 all season despite 10 goals and 8 assists although it’s still a pretty respectable PP90.  That has meant only 2 double figure FPL hauls. The other negative is the current propensity for Klopp to take him off early.  In the last 8 games he’s averaged 77 minutes and only played 90 minutes twice.

38 Watford (H)
