THE IMAGINARY WC TEAM

Remember if you’re wildcarding this week you can’t use another chip. The article is mainly to assist in player selection and not as a real life wildcard  although it’s budget is around £104.0m

Here’s the team.

Goalkeepers

With Mourinho stating that Romero would play and De Gea rested he’s my cheap entry into the Man Utd defence.  Nordfelt is just the cheapest GK as a reserve.

Defence

While I feel that Alexander Arnold does present some residual risk such is his value that I think he’s worth that risk.  Vertonghen is in despite his cost with Spurs looking like a good clean sheet chance against an out of sorts Leicester.  Kyle Walker Peters could be a cheap gamble given the injury doubts to Aurier and Trippier.

The I’ve gone for 3 cheapies to balance the budget in Lowton, Ogbonna and Tomkins.

Midfield

Salah with Liverpool needing a result against Brighton is a no brainer.  Sterling having been rested seems a good bet to play against Southampton.  2 midfielders playing as strikers in Zaha and Arnautovic are also squeezed in.  Lewis Cook provides some very cheap gametime certainty

Forwards

Kane despite some indifferent performances is in as he will still not have given up on the golden boot even though he’s a hat trick behind.

Aubameyang may benefit from Huddersfield’s bus party hangover and is probably the only safe Arsenal representation.  Despite an underwhelming DGW37 I’m still holding on to Jesus for the rest of his season’s good performances
