The Bandwagons

These are the 5 most transferred players so far in the gameweek

Mahrez

4 goals in 3 games to open the Leicester midfielder’s campaign and a quite sensational performance against Spurs keeps the bandwagon rolling and he’s also up to £5.9m from £5.5m.  A player owned by all 10 of the top fantasy premier league managers I follow.  His success is no fluke either as he has the best shooting stats for any midfielder who’s played 3 games.  The fixtures remain good as well.  He’s also the penalty taker.  The only question is sustainability.  Last season he got 4 goals and 5 assists at an FPL rate of 20.4 minutes which is slightly lower than you’d potentially like although not terrible for the price.  Last season he also returned a goal or assist in 5/30 games which is a consistency rate of 17%.  Thats poor.  There was also only 1 return in the last 10 starts.  None of those are great stats.

Pedro

The £9.5m midfielder started his Chelsea career with a goal and an assist and 13 FPL points.  Seemed quite expensive for a new player to FPL was my first reaction but he blew that apart.  Certainly his shooting and creating chances stats were good and at least matched Hazards in this game.  Played on the right hand side of the 3 in 4-2-3-1 as one of the attacking midfielders.  Gave Chelsea an extra dimension with his pace and was a good target for Fabregas’ through balls.  Fixtures are a bit mixed.  Is an option for Chelsea coverage at a cheaper price that Hazard or Costa

Callum Wilson

The £5.4m Bournemouth forward scored 3 goals from 4 shots with help from some quite appalling performances from the West Ham defence.  These are his first returns in the premier league.  His underlying shooting and creating chances stats are pretty ordinary so far.  The question remains is was the West Ham defence the reason or is this a turning point in his season.  He certainly knows how to score with 20 goals and 7 assists last season in the Championship.  It’s the perennial question though of can he transfer it to the premier league.   If you’re going to gamble though now is the time to do it with great fixtures.  He also has pens it seems.

Aguero

The £13.2m Man City forward didn’t score and it’s now only 1 goal in 3 appearances but he did everything but again.  The 1 goal really don’t represent how dangerous he has been and his goal threat.  This is backed up by the fact that he has the best underlying shooting stats of any forward.  He’s also up there with creating chances which is different than last season.  Fantastic fixtures coming and Watford next.  He’s bound to be captained by everyone.  Owned by all 10 of the top FPL managers I follow.  Also has pens.

Yaya Toure

An assist in the win over Everton for the £8.7m Man City midfielder makes it 2 goals and 2 assists in the 3 games  so far this season.  Doesn’t really have any shooting or creating chances stats but that means nothing to YYT.  Last season he had a return rate of 1 FPL point every 17.6 mins and a consistency rate of a goal or assist in 34% of games.  Thats pretty ordinary stats.  Is it that season or his previous one to that where he scored 20 goals and 9 assists?  He certainly started like his successful season

The Sinking Ships

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek

Rooney

No surprises here for the £10.4m Man Utd midfielder sorry striker!  Many like myself would have given him 1 more chance at home to Newcastle.  Things may have been different if his “goal” hadn’t been disallowed.  Only 1 assist in his first 3 games.  Appalling shooting stats (Agbonlahor stats are better) say it all.  It’s not bad luck, he’s just not getting the chances.  Fixtures are really now on the turn as well

Kane

3 games and no returns for the £9.4m Spurs forward.  To be honest his shooting stats could be worse (maybe even slightly better than last year) and in the games I’ve seen he has been a bit unlucky. The next 3 fixtures aren’t too bad although the 6 aren’t easy.  Does have pens

Hazard

1 assist in 3 games is not what you’re looking for from an £11.5m Chelsea midfielder so it’s no surprise it’s seen a wave of sales.  Add that to the Pedro factor and a saving of £2m that that gives and it’s even less of a surprise.  Especially as moneys tight so far this season.  His underlying shooting and creating chances stats certainly aren’t offering any hope.  The fixtures are also pretty mixed.  If you’re holding you’re relying on last season where he was easily the top midfielder with an FPL point every 14.5 mins and a consistency rate of 58%.  Both are fantastic stats. Also has pens.

Ivanovic

The Chelsea RB is the most expensive defender in FPL at now £6.9m.  However 8 goals conceded and no clean sheets and no attacking returns are going to trigger a wave of sales.  Is this Chelsea defensive lapse a blip?  Thats what the big decision is.  However 3 clean sheets from Man Utd and Man City make it a big leap of faith  to hold on.  The underlying defensive stats are also appalling and certainly don’t show this as being bad luck.  2 sendings off may distort these stats but even so

Depay

After such a fantastic performance from the £8.5m Man Utd midfielder with 2 goals in the Champions League qualifier hopes were high in the premier league.  However he was absolutely appalling giving the ball away continually and consistently making bad decisions.  The cold hard facts though is that it’s 3 games and no returns in a team that looks reasonably defensive solid but a team that is struggling to score goals.  His shooting stats aren’t great but could be worse.  He doesn’t create chances though.  The fixtures now take a turn for the worse
