fantasy premier league GW4 wildcard tips – our imaginary wildcard

Fantasy Premier League, imaginary wildcard

Here’s our fantasy premier league GW4 wildcard tips article where we pretend we are using our wildcard. It gives player suggestions with more longevity than just for the up coming gameweek

fantasy premier league GW4 wildcard tips – our imaginary wildcard

This is a short article where I’m pretending I’m using my wildcard to give you player picks with more longevity than the next game. It’s short as there are no stats. I’ve given links to articles below with all the detailed stats you’ll need if you want to investigate a player in more detail.  This week I’ve decided to give 2 different imaginary wildcard versions

By the way, I’m holding onto my wildcard for the moment. I personally would like more data.  Also I’d like to see how the Champions League affects lineups.  If I had to name a time I will use it that would probably be around GW10 but it depends on circumstances.  You can see from my early FFGeek team article that there are alot of problems coming over the hill

In this article there are no stats just some brief narrative on the selection below. There’s stats in the player ranking articles which can be found here using the links below

Player rankings defence and GK

Player rankings midfielders over £7.5m

Budget midfield player rankings

forwards player rankings

There’s also our fixture ease article which gives player suggestions with good fixtures. There’s also our underlying stats articles part 1 and part 2 if you want to see who’s posting the best shot and key pass stats etc in part 1 and part 2 looks at expected goals

Last but not least Joseph Crilley has actually used his real wildcard.  You can see the team in his GW4 wildcard article

Imaginary WC Team 1

Structure

Both teams are set up pretty much for a 4-3-3 with 3 defenders and a rotating 4th defender between Mee and Schindler.  Thats one of the ways of getting Kane and Lukaku in your team.  It does mean that Cedric, Jones and Alonso are pretty committed to playing every week.  Thats fine except I’m not sure I would play Cedric every week.  If it was a Man City or Spurs defender that would be different but no £5.0m options there.  There is the ability to put Carroll or Chalobah in for a good fixture as an alternative.

Apart from the Man Utd double up in attack I’ve tried to spread risk around with attackers.

GK and defence

No need to move from Foster and Elliot for me.  Foster is the only WBA defence cover that is £4.5m.  You do miss out on the attacking options in their defence which is a shame.  However for me a £5.0m defender should play every game and that’s tricky outside the expected top 7 teams.

Jones is great value and Alonso pretty much gives you that 4th midfielder with clean sheets as an added bonus.  Cedric isn’t first choice for my team.   I would prefer a Man City defender so I could rearrange if I believed that Otamendi was safe.  That may take a few more fixtures.

Mee was due to Burnley having some good home fixtures and Huddersfield does rotate to some degree so I went for the safe pick in Schindler.

Midfield

As I said above I’m looking to spread the risk around here apart from the Man Utd double up. Silva is the only Man City player who seems to have gametime and positional security even if the position isn’t in an ideal front 3.  Mane is the best of the Liverpool Mids for me. As I said I’ve doubled up on Man Utd with Mkhitaryan as I think he’s great value, plays in an advanced position and has the ability to score and assist.

Chalobah and Carroll are the £4.5m bench warmers.  Carroll is a bit of a worry with Sanches joining so you could go Romeu if you wanted more security with no attacking potential.

Attack

I’m personally not in a place to get rid of Kane or Lukaku for the cash.  Joseph Crilley in his GW4 wildcard article sacrifices Lukaku by putting both Pogba and Mkhitaryan and I’ve seen others look at Alli and Eriksen instead of Kane.  I can see the theory.  Who knows whether it will ultimately work out or not.  Kane and Lukaku are captain favourites so I imagine that at least it will be more of a volatile ride even if points wise it ultimately works.  Vokes is my cheap fixture based player.

Imaginary WC Team 2

The defence and GK here are the same but basically I go for a premium forward 3.  Salah takes the place of Mane to generate funds and I have to have 2 fixture based cheaper players rather than the 1.  Those 2 fixture based midfielders are Brady and Antonio.  Antonio I’m a big fan of.  You’d have to be given the mess West Ham are in

You could also go Lacazette instead of Morata for a bold GW4 captain choice if you could find a small bit of cash somewhere.  This team is also 4-3-3 but it does have more captain options.  I’m a huge Mane fan but I would prefer Morata as my captain to him.  The only negative is that all 3 forwards seem to play away or home together in at least the first few weeks that I checked.

Thanks hope that and Josephs wildcard team give you some ideas for transfers or wildcards
