Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league GW6 midfield player rankings article. There’s a range of stats plus commentary on each player and their next 6 fixtures. This will help you choose the best transfer for your team

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW6 MIDFIELD PLAYER RANKINGS

First it’s important to remember that each player is ranked as a transfer target for this week. So while we generally look at fixtures form and underlying stats a player who’s away to Man City is going to be ranked lower than someone home to Huddersfield for example. If possible a transfer should have a good fixture first up.

Firstly there’s a table of stats. Then there’s a bit of brief commentary on each player.

This is the 2nd player rankings article. I’ve also written a defenders and GKs player rankings article

STATS DEFINITIONS

Fixt Ease: The ease of the mentioned fixture range from an attacking perspective. See our GW6 fixture ease article

The Schedule

Before I start I should say I haven’t put in Sanchez or Hazard due to the fact they didn’t start the last PL game.  Ozil also has a potential fitness issue as I write this

Alli

2 goals in his first 3 was followed by 2 blanks.  He’s playing as a striker pretty much and as a midfielder he’s certainly showing reasonable goal threat although I would hope for that to improve still.  The fixtures are also very good.  That’s the main draw plus his positioning and the knowledge that we all know what a great goal scoring midfielder he can be.  The negatives are Wembley plus if you have Kane there’s alot of eggs in one basket.  Alli is banned for 2 more games in the Champions League which should help his PL minutes even allowing for the fact he played in the EFL Cup during the week for whatever reason

West Ham (A)
Huddersfield (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Liverpool (H)
Man Utd (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Eriksen

I’ve hokey kokeyed between Eriksen and Alli in the rankings but really it’s a straightforward choice between a goal scoring support striker and a set piece based assisting midfielder as their underlying stats and returns last year are night and day between goals and assists.  Again he shares the same Wembley issues plus Kane not scoring isn’t helping.  However considering those factors he’s made a pretty good start.  Him and Richarlison are the only 2 players who’ve also appeared in our top 15 xG and xA midfield rankings

West Ham (A)
Huddersfield (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Liverpool (H)
Man Utd (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Mkhitaryan

A goal and 5 assists returning in every game except 1 is some start after the difficult last season.  He’s the arch creator of the side with some set piece responsibility.  Plays very advanced too.  Has got very good assist based underlying stats although shot threat has been disappointing.  However history has shown his ability to score and an advanced position should hopefully give him more chances like the one he polished off against Everton at the weekend.  Fixtures are a bit mixed though especially at the back end of the 6

Southampton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (A)
Huddersfield (A)
Spurs (H)
Chelsea (A)

Salah

Has had a great start to the season with 3 goals and 2 assists in his first 5 games.  Some great shooting underlying stats have backed this up.  Like any side in the Champions League there is a rotation risk but a positive was his non appearance in the EFL cup during the week.  Fixtures are a bit mixed but Liverpool can score against anyone on their day.  In fact alot of times it seems the harder the fixture the better

Leicester (A)
Newcastle (A)
Man Utd (H)
Spurs (A)
Huddersfield (H)
West Ham (A)

Sigurdsson

Sigurdsson and Everton have been pretty terrible so far although Sigurdsson’s 3 starts which have been blanks have been against Chelsea, Spurs and Man Utd.  While his underlying stats for shots haven’t been that bad his underlying assist stats have been hopeless.  The only way is up now with the fixture change.  Sigurddson now as a selection is all about fixtures and his FPL history.  Not about player or team current form

Bournemouth (H)
Burnley (H)
Brighton (A)
Arsenal (H)
Leicester (A)
Watford (H)

Ramsey

It was a far more disciplined box to box performance from Ramsey against Chelsea but despite his position as a CM he has produced good shot threat stats. However he has only produced 1 goal and 1 assist in his 4 starts and  sub appearance so carries risk with that and position.   Good fixtures on the whole

West Brom (H)
Brighton (H)
Watford (A)
Everton (A)
Swansea (H)
Man City (A)

D Silva

Stats and return wise it seems were getting a better version of De Bruyne for a much cheaper price.  Again mainly assist and set piece based player but with 2 deadly forwards as the targets.  Only the Chelsea fixture looks negative

Crystal Palace (H)
Chelsea (A)
Stoke (H)
Burnley (H)
West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)

Brady

2 assists in his first 5 isn’t bad for the price for the Burnley set piece man.  Helpfully has played 90 minutes in 4 of those 5 games.  3 good home games if you have the ability to rotate.  The negatives are that he plays wider than I would like as crosses in open play aren’t the ideal vehicle for returns.  Also  in a quite defensive team

Huddersfield (H)
Everton (A)
West Ham (H)
Man City (A)
Newcastle (H)
Southampton (A)

Gross

Playing pretty much as a support striker even though he is mainly an assist based player by history and underlying stats.   Has got 2 goals and 2 assists all in the last 2 games and his underlying stats are ok for the price.  His main negartive is that he plays in a very defensive team which doesn’t create alot of attacking opportunities and the ability to finish off the chances he creates is a little limited given the strikers here.  Some good fixtures mixed within some not so good.

Newcastle (H)
Arsenal (A)
Everton (H)
West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)
Swansea (A)

Ritchie

Another assist based player with set piece responsibility in a team with reasonable fixtures.  Ritchie is more Brady playing out wide but his underlying stats are probably better.  His returns with 4 assists in his last 4 games are excellent.  His fixtures are also good.  Pretty new to the premier league in a newly promoted side is he negative which probably creates more uncertainty about the longevity of returns although Newcastle have done well so far.

 Brighton (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Burnley (A)
Bournemouth (H)
