Morata

6 goals and 2 assists in 6 games is some start to a new league.  Although his hat trick against Stoke was obtained against the background of a mass CB injury crisis in the Stoke ranks it still shouldn’t detract from a fine finishing performance which in actual fact could easily have been more

Good underlying stats back this up as being no fluke either.

You could argue, given the fact that Man City is next, that it’s a transfer 1 week too early but after that there are 3 very good fixtures

Man City (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Brom (A)

 D Silva

His 2nd 2 assist and 11 point haul plus his price have made him an attractive proposition.  It’s now 6 assists in 6 games for the season.  Suddenly it’s him and not De Bruyne who’s become the go to creator in the Man City team at a significantly reduced price.  Very good underlying stats for assists back this up and when you have finishers like they do at Man City these are always likely to be converted to points.

Again tough fixture to buy him on.

Chelsea (A)
Stoke (H)
Burnley (H)
West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Leicester (A)

Aguero

A goal and an assist against Palace makes it 5 goals and 3 assists in the last 3 games.  He’s always posted fairly stellar goal threat underlying stats but this season, so far, he’s posting some incredible assist threat stats.  Believe it or not they are better than Silva’s.

Rotation and the knock on effect of that as a captain option is the issue.  While Kane, Lukaku and Morata don’t really have another striker to rotate with of near their quality, Pep has Jesus so is more likely to rotate than maybe the other managers.  I suspect Kane Lukaku and Morata won’t touch the EFL Cup for example.  Unfortunately Jesus playing 90 minutes in the EFL cup and then not playing against Palace could be interpreted as Pep making sure he was going to use his squad to maximise the chance of winning every competition.

Chelsea (A)
Stoke (H)
Burnley (H)
West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Leicester (A)

Azpilicueta

If I told you that Azpilicueta had 4 assists to Alonso’s 0 and his assist related underlying stats were miles better, would you be surprised?  I’d like to think you would be and that is the case.  He doesn’t have any shooting stats and Alonso does have some but it does make you think about the extra £0.6m.  Add to the fact that Alonso was terrible against Stoke, the fact that Chelsea were linked strongly with LB Sandro in the off season and it does make you wonder what could be going through Conte’s mind with Man City next up.

As  a defence Chelsea have looked strong after the initial Burnley shock with 3 clean sheets in their first 6 games.

Man City (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Brom (A)

Jones

Phil Jones has little in the way of attacking threat but £5.2m for a defender who’s got 5 clean sheets out of 6 games in a defence with good underlying stats to back that up is a bargain.  His injury record and rotation will be a risk as United have 7 potential CBs although 2 are injured.

Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (A)
Huddersfield (A)
Spurs (H)
Chelsea (A)
Newcastle (H)

The Sinking Ships

Firmino

With their being such competition in the premium striker department 3 consecutive blanks is going to result in alot of transfers out.  Especially when the competition for those places in the squad also performed well last week.  In truth very few players go the season without 3 consecutive blanks over the season but Firmino hasn’t timed his well.   While his assist underlying stats are good, his shooting stats aren’t particularly good which also doesn’t help any desire to hold.  Hard to really add fixtures into the mix as Liverpool sometimes seem to find the tougher fixtures easier as sides don’t sit back against them

Newcastle (A)
Man Utd (H)
Spurs (A)
Huddersfield (H)
West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)

Jesus

Has done everything right when on the pitch with 4 goals in 5 starts this season.  However it’s that phrase “when on the pitch” that hasn’t helped the situation. 90 minutes in the EFL cup and a no show against Palace is an unfortunate risk when you go with City as I mentioned above in the Aguero bandwagon.

 Chelsea (A)
Stoke (H)
Burnley (H)
West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Leicester (A)

Rooney

The Everton man has the potential with good fixtures and a cheap price to be an asset to your FPL team.  However multiple changes in position plus a substitution for tactical reasons at he weekend rather than the injury to his eye.  That substitution saw Niasse score twice and these factors collectively plus alternative options have resulted in a number of transfers out.  It will depend on what you want to do with your team but a home game to Burnley isn’t the most pressing time to transfer out a striker especially when the fixtures are good as well

Burnley (H)
Brighton (A)
Arsenal (H)
Leicester (A)
Watford (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

Pogba

Still injured with no time frame put forward for a return.  Fellaini has been the beneficiary but he is now injured and not going to Moscow for the Champions League game

Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (A)
Huddersfield (A)
Spurs (H)
Chelsea (A)
Newcastle (H)

Alonso

The FPL games most expensive defender had a nightmare against Stoke and that translated into a nightmare for FPL managers as he was taken off at the 58 minute mark.  That’s unhelpfully 2 minutes short of the clean sheet threshold.  That was in stark contrast to Azpilicueta’s 14 points.  It’s worth noting that his attacking stats aren’t actually that great even though I think going forward he looks fantastic.  However the truth is the game against Spurs is his only attacking returns in 6 games and his underlying stats assists wise are far worse than Azpilicueta’s.

While I’ve theorised as to what may be going through  Conte’s mind in the above section on Azpilicueta the fixtures after Man Cuty are very good and I’m not sure unless I had nothing else to deal with that I would be panic selling

Man City (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Brom (A)
