fantasy premier league GW8 – Final FFGeek wildcard team

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Thanks to everybody for their thoughts on my wildcard options.  I wish I could say that over night I had a dream which pointed me to the right option and it’s all suddenly so clear but I didn’t.  However anyone who thinks FPL is about certainty is kidding themselves.  It’s about making 50/50 calls and hoping you make the right one.  So I woke up, made breakfast, watched a few minutes of the Sydney FC v CCM game and just decided after alot of cogitating

So in the end being a generally conservative FPLmanager I went for option 2 which is the sacrifice Son option.  It wasn’t a 50/50 as I came very close to the Costa option too. In the end I wasn’t comfortable with the 1 man premium defence. Pochettino’s words on rotation specifically mentioning Son didn’t help either.  I know this year has seen very little clean sheets but I have read stuff saying the underlying defensive stats aren’t that different and it’s hard to see that the top 4 teams wont keep around 15 or 16 clean sheets as they have done historically.  I also like the set and forget part of it so I can concentrate on rotating the midfield especially.

Here’s the team then and a few points below that about team selection and the captain choice:

 Team selection

My wildcard didn’t work that well for the first gameweek with 2 Everton players in it against Man City.

I kept faith with Foster even though Sunderland have better clean sheet odds than WBA.  I’m just not budging off Foster and save points always help even out the odds situation.

In defence Arsenal and Spurs were easy.  Then it had to be Holebas over Williams due to the fixture.  I could have gone for Pieters or Friend that would have given me more GW8 clean sheet chance but Holebas as a reserve has attacking potential every time he plays so he’s a good choice for me.

No other dilemmas for me in attack apart from the captain choice.  For the moment I’ve gone for Aguero but it’s a captain choice article next.

Good luck today and thanks again for everyone’s comments.  I’m sorry I can’t reply but it’s difficult to find the time to get the articles out themselves and responding in a thoughtful considered way to comments just isn’t time possible.
