Here’s our fantasy premier league GW9 tips article where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers. These 10 managers have not finished outside the overall rank of the top 10k in the last 3 seasons. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection.

GAMEWEEK REVIEW
A reasonably good week for the top 10 FPL managers. 8/10 had green arrows.
The average score of the managers in GW8 was 51 compared to the game average of 41. That’s 10 points and 24% above the game average score. High score of the 10 was 62. The low score was 41. A spread of 21 for a fairly low scoring gameweek despite the City score.
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers saw an improvement to 681k compared to 837k in the last gameweek. An average rank improvement of 156k. The best rank is 121k and the lowest 1.554 million. If you calculated the median rank then that improved to 597k compared to 714 last gameweek. An improvement of rank of 117k. 9 managers have overall ranks better than 1 million.
The average points are 442.
The average value improved from £101.3m to £101.6m
If you’re interested my score was ok at 51 with no point hits and resulted in a 39k green arrow from 184k overall rank to 145k . I had a higher score than 4 of the managers. I’m ahead in OR terms of 9/10 top managers. My team value is up £0.7m on the last gameweek to £101.6m. My total points is 470. You can see my early thoughts on the FFGeek team article for GW9

FOCUS ON 1 MANAGERS TEAM
As we said last week, the celebrity manager we followed last season finished around the 20k mark so he’s not in the group this season. This season were going to focus on the manager each week who had the highest finish last season with an amazing overall rank of 15 believe it or not.
This week he used his wildcard and it was a fairly bold team to say the least.
His score this week was 43 so for the 3rd week in a row he was the 2nd lowest scorer of the 10 and his rank is 671k. A worsening of rank of 38k from last weeks OR of 633k. His points total is 439. He’s the 6th ranked of the 10 FPL managers
THE HIGHEST SCORER
His score of 62 took him to 455k OR and 448 points. He’s the 3rd ranked manager of the 10. Surprising to see him with such a good score and only 1 City player.
THE LOWEST SCORER
His score of 41 took him to 838k OR and 433 points. He’s the 8th ranked of the 10 managers
I’ve often said that differences in scores in a gameweek come down to 1 of more of the following 3 things normally:
defence – only 4 points difference this time
Captain – no difference
A few attackers – there were only 3 players difference in the front 7 of the 2 teams. T Carroll, Eriksen and Atsu. Those 3 accounted for 17 points difference.
THE TOP 10K OVERALL RANK VS THE FPL MANAGERS
Lets look at the differences in the teams
Some huge differences between the top 10 managers teams and the current top 10k.
The top 10 managers favour more than the top 10k (using 30% as a significant difference):
Elliot, Foster, Mee, T Carroll, S Ward, Cedric, Alonso, Mee, Sterling, Choupo Moting, Vardy and Kane
The top 10k favour more than the FPL managers (using 30% as a significant difference):
De Gea and Mkhitaryan
The top 10 k average score was 46 and the FPL managers average score was 51.
