fantasy premier league imaginary wildcard – gameweek 27

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my fantasy premier league imaginary wildcard team for gameweek 27.  Remember its a team as if I was using my wildcard today rather than just a team for the one gameweek 27.  Its a practical application of my “ones to watch” article.

Norwich
Remove player i
Bunn
£4.1
Budget filler
Arsenal
Remove player i
Szczesny
£5.3
Only Sagna is cheaper in the home defence and only by £0.2m so this is the best chance to get a home and away keeper at great value.  The stats show above that the defence is far better than pundits give it credit for
Man City
Remove player i
Clichy
£5.6
Forget the Southampton game which was the result of individual errors.  City still have the best defence in the league.  Zabaleta has increased in price to £6.2m and has Maicon back and Richards even looking over the horizon.  Clichy has played the last 7 and while you’re always vulnerable  to rotation in this team you need to pay £7m ot therabouts to avoid it with Kompany and Hart
Tottenham
Remove player i
Dawson
£4.5
Staggering value at£4.5m.  The rotation at the moment in the CB position for Spurs is ridiculous but he’s played the last 7 which gives some positivity.  Fixtures are terrible but at this price he almost counts as a filler
Reading
Remove player i
Harte
£3.8
Cheap filler with set piece attacking potential

Southampton
Remove player i
Clyne
£4.1
Southampton despite the overall poor defensive stats have shown their mettle at home and their high line pressing game has really unsettled teams under the new manager.  Great value for home rotation with some good attacking potential.
Stoke City
Remove player i
Wilson
£3.9
£3.9m for a Stoke defender!  Despite their recent troubles that’s an absolute bargain.  Should be fit for GW27 by all accounts
Southampton
Remove player i
Puncheon
£4.9
While Maloney and Kebe haven shown glimpses of form Puncheon is still the cheap midfielder of choice in my mind.
Swansea
Remove player i
Michu
£8.1
The archetypal advanced midfielder either playing as a striker or just behind.  Prefers the easier teams and is going on a difficult run of fixtures but most people wont be afford to sell him anyway.
Arsenal
Remove player i
Walcott
£9.2
Not playing in the central striking position but still seems so far forward that he almost makes the 4-2-3-1 in to a 4-42.  Stats haven’t really suffered since Giroud got in the team and with great fixtures coming up then he’s an essential player for me.
Chelsea
Remove player i
Mata
£10.0
Doesn’t feature in the shooting stats and you could make a case to say he’s over performing them but the consistency of returns is frightening.  This plus his advanced central position and his extensive involvement in Chelseas play makes him an essential player in your fantasy premier league team.  Also has good fixtures to come.
Tottenham
Remove player i
Bale
£10.0
The man in form at the moment.  Consistently produces underlying stats so you know the returns will come eventually. 4 goals and 34 points in 3 games. Fixtures are tough but that doesn’t seem to matter to him.
Man Utd
Remove player i
Van Persie
£13.5
Isn’t top of the underlying stats but is such a deadly finisher just doesn’t need them as has the best shots on target ratio.  Pure quality
Liverpool
Remove player i
Suarez
£10.7
Still the best underlying stats, scores and creates chances.  Sturridge doesn’t seem to have caused the problems people were worried about.
Aston Villa
Remove player i
Benteke
£6.9
5 goals  in his last 4 and absolutely on fire.  Fixtures are the main issue for him.  NZogbia return to form has helped
