Fantasy premier league – my imaginary wildcard team for GW7

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my fantasy premier league imaginary wildcard team for gameweek 7.  Its a team for the future as if I was using my wildcard, not just GW7

I’ve dovetailed it in with my “ones to watch articles so you can see the stats while viewing the team.  Obviously when doing a wildcard team you can take a few more chances and in order to make the numbers up you add in players that you may have classified as hold in case you were wondering.

I’ve gone for a fairly well balanced team with players who can score goals to take advantage of the bonus system.  The defence is still fairly strong even though there were only 3 clean sheets last week after averaging 7.4 per week the week before

Anyway here it is:

Liverpool

Mignolet (£5.8m) BUY

  • Minutes per point:  13.8    Team clean sheets:  3    Team defence ranking:  5  fixture ease rank:  4

3 clean sheets but none in the last 3 give some concern but still good fixtures and a solid defensive ranking

Next 6 fixtures:

Crystal Palace (H)
Newcastle (A)
West Brom (H)
Arsenal (A)
Fulham (H)
Everton (A)

Hull City

Cole (£6.5m)  BUY

  • Minutes per point:  17.9 mins .  Team clean sheets:  3    Team defence ranking:  2  Rotation risk: medium   fixture ease ranking:  8    Bonus points to date 5

Terry with a goal and an assist definitely looks the goal threat for Chelsea but with Champions league games approaching and 4 potential CBs if you count Ivanovic then rotation has to be more of a threat for Terry than Cole.  Cole also has continued to attract bonus points.  for these reasons I’m still looking at him as the best Chelsea defender

Next 6 fixtures:

Norwich (A)
Cardiff City (H)
Man City (H)
Newcastle (A)
West Brom (H)
West Ham (A)

Everton

Distin (£5.0m) HOLD

  • Minutes per point:   20.8 mins .  Team clean sheets:  3    Team defence ranking:  3  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 13     Bonus points to date 5

The Everton defence has conceded 4 goals in the last 2 games but despite giving away a few clear cut chances has still held up in underlying stats and I expect them to get back to their clean sheet ways.  Coleman continues to be the attacking threat while Distin has more bonus point attraction.  Fixtures are a bit mixed and wouldn’t buy this gameweek though when visiting Man City.

Next 6 fixtures:

Man City (A)
Hull City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Tottenham (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)

Dawson (£5.1m) BUY

  •   Minutes per point:  19.3 .  Team clean sheets: 4    Team defence ranking:  1  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 10th     Bonus points to date 2

Spurs are showing fine defensive form at the moment although Chelsea scored at the weekend they still have good defensive prospects.  Fixtures get about to get trickier but given the value and the defensive solidity still worth buying.  Good fixture this week as well.

Next 6 fixtures:

West Ham (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Hull City (H)
Everton (A)
Newcastle (H)
Man City (A)

Southampton

Clyne (£4.4m)BUY

  • Minutes per point:  14.3 mins .  Team clean sheets:  4    Team defence ranking:  4  Rotation risk: medium   fixture ease ranking: 2   Bonus points to date 4

Another game another clean sheet for the Southampton defence.  4 clean sheets and only 2 goals conceded.  Clyne is the best value and seems to be liked by the bonus point system although this was the first clean sheet that he wasn’t rewarded.  If you want to trade up go for Lovren who’s the bonus point darling at £5.0m with 7 bonus points already although he surprisingly also missed out.  Fixtures also look strong

Next 6 fixtures:

Swansea (H)
Man Utd (A)
Fulham (H)
Stoke City (A)
Hull City (H)
Arsenal (A)

Stoke City

Wilson (£4.5m)  BUY

  • Minutes per point:  24.5 mins .  Team clean sheets:  2    Team defence ranking:  10  Rotation risk: medium   fixture ease ranking: 3    Bonus points to date 4

Disappointing in not obtaining a clean sheet but it wasn’t a function of a poor defensive performance which was generally solid.  Another home rotation option where the home fixtures offer a good chance of a clean sheet.

Fulham (A)
West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)
Southampton (H)
Swansea (A)
Sunderland (H)

Michu (£9.0m) BUY

  • Goals and assists:  2 goal 1 assist.  Time per point scored:  18.6 mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 1st.  Consistency 3/6    50%

Tricky game next away to Saints which is why you might want to defer a buy for a week until the Sunderland home game but great fixtures (Sunderland and Fulham in the next 6) great underlying shooting and creating chances stats  and looks back to his best whether behind the striker or as one

Next 6 fixtures:

Southampton (A)
Sunderland (H)
West Ham (H)
Cardiff City (A)
Stoke City (H)
Fulham (A)

Cardiff City

 Whittingham (£5.1m) HOLD

–   Has set pieces and pens and shown a good return with 1 goal and 2 assists in 6 games.

Arsenal
Remove player i

Ramsey (£6.4m)  BUY

  • Goals and assists:  4 goals 2 assists.  Time per point scored:  11.7  mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 11th.  Consistency 4/6    66%

The man leading the way for the fundamental shift in fantasy premier league in the box to box midfielder continues on his way to ripping up all our original theories.  He doesn’t play in an advanced position and he doesn’t generally provide assists.  Last year he scored 1 goal and he’s never scored more than 3 in a season.  He certainly never featured as having any consistent shooting stats.  However here he is leading the way of all midfielders with 4 goals and 2 assists already.  At the moment he does have good shooting stats but certainly not enough to warrant the goals scored.  However his ability to get forward on the break is crucial but he also seems to have the awarenness of space in the structured attacks of home games.  I’m still not sure he can continue it but the box to box midfielder seems to be here to stay given that he is leading the points table with YYT.  If you own him I don’t even need to say don’t sell him and I’ve seen enough of the way Arsenal are structured attacking wise and how he gets forward to say he’s a buy. There are 3 tricky fixtures at the end of the next 6 and  on the face of it the next game away to WBA seems a tricky fixture but given Arsenals ability to counter attack I don’t believe there’s such a thing as a difficult away game.  He’s a buy.

Next 6 fixtures:

West Brom (A)
Norwich (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Man Utd (A)
Southampton (H)

Everton

Barkley (£5.3m) BUY

–   Looks certain to hold his place as the CAM behind Lukaku where they even now seem to have an understanding

Tottenham
Remove player i

Siggy (£7.1m) BUY

  • Goals and assists:  3 goals 0 assist.  Time per point scored:  11.1 mins .  Rotation risk: high.   fixture ease ranking: 10th.  Consistency 2/5    40%

Got into the team on the left of the attacking 3 and has shown the scoring ability that he had in the season before last when he was with Swansea.  has some gametime risk with Chadli now fit but does have that ability to get into the area and score.  Nows the time to buy with 3 good fixtures before they turn difficult

Next 6 fixtures:

West Ham (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Hull City (H)
Everton (A)
Newcastle (H)
Man City (A)

Everton

 Lukaku (£7.7m) BUY

Goals and assists:  3 goals 1 assists.  Time per point scored:  7.0 .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 13th.  Consistency for Everton 2/2   100%

2 fantastic performances in a row from Lukaku giving him a 100% consistency return rate for Everton.  Seems to have already got an understanding with Barkley and still has Piennar to come back for more creativity.  Great underlying shooting stats per minute although hasn’t particularly been creating chances for others so far.  Fixtures are a bit mixed in the next 6 with 3 difficult fixtures and 3 good fixtures but a quality player who visitors to the site will know I have long talked up.

Suarez (£11.1m)BUY

Goals and assists: 2 goals and 0 assists:     Time per point scored:  6.9  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 4th.  Consistency 1/1    100%

Only eclipsed last year by RVP and if it hadn’t have been for the suspension may have even scored more goals.  A top quality player who showed why he is such a top fantasy premier league pick.  A change in formation has Suarez up top  as  a pair with Sturridge means there is no diminution in his role or chances of scoring by being on the flank or behind Sturridge.  Great fixtures starting with Palace at home and Liverpool also have the worst 3 defence double with Fulham at home as well.

Next 6 fixtures:

Crystal Palace (H)

RVP (£14.0m) HOLD

  • Goals and assists:  3 goals 0 assists.  Time per point scored:  17.1 mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 2nd.  Consistency 2/5   40%

Still has the best shots in the box stats of anyone even though his consistency rate has dropped below the 50% danger level.  Major problem at the moment is the lack of chances created which last year led to assists.  These assists kept  him returning during any scoring dips.  A crucial part of his revival will be whether he takes set pieces as he has such a good delivery.  However,  the good part is the fixtures coming. One of the few sides that has 2 out of the 3 worst defensive sides in Sunderland Fulham and Palace in the next 6.  Has a natural selling point if there isn’t a recovery before the Arsenal home game in GW11 although you could argue he will be exceptionally fired up for that game.  I personally still have faith especially with the fixtures, but I would like to see more chances being created and him taking set pieces again.

Next 6 fixtures:

Sunderland (A)
Southampton (H)
Stoke City (H)
Fulham (A)
Arsenal (H)
Cardiff City (A)
