fantasy premier league injuries gameweek 38 – “one mans pain is another mans gain”

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my fantasy premier league injuries gameweek 38 article.  Lots of key injuries this week unfortunately for most.  One mans pain is another mans gain looks at the players who could benefit from injuries this week.  This gives you the potential to find undervalued players for your FPL team who will be replacing those injured players.  The 2nd part looks at players who could be displaced by other players returning from injury in gameweek 38.  Just for the record despite the name this is not intended to be flippant towards a players injury which obviously no one would wish for.  By the way the article isn’t meant to cover all injuries and those returning.  Just a selection

Aguero

Ruled out of the game tonight against Villa and doubtful for the title decider in GW38.  What this does do is cement the prospect of Dzeko in the side and he is a natural replacement if Aguero isn’t fit.  It strengthen’s his position which is fairly certain anyway with Pellegrini opting for 2 strikers recently.  A home game to a West Ham team with nothing to play for makes Dzeko an excellent GW38 choice

Rooney

Still a doubt for GW38 and hard to see him risked for such a meaningless game away to Southampton.   Add to that with Ryan Giggs certain to not get the big job and therefore far less risk averse in his selection anything now seems possible on the line up front.  Could new boy Wilson get the nod again?  Could it be Welbeck, could it be Hernandez.  Who knows?  Does Giggs?  Although United are a strong team away it’s difficult who to predict will take Rooney’s place if he isn’t fit. Southampton have conceded 8 games at home in their last 6.  Nothing flash but there should be far better transfer options that this

Ramsey

A thigh injury and missed the game against WBA.  Apparently will be back for GW38 but if not either Flamini will hold the position or it could go to Wilshere who is scheduled to return to action for GW38.  Away to Norwich who over the season have the 4th best home defence and 8 clean sheets is potentially a tricky fixture.  Thats slipped away on current form and add to that the fact that they could be relegated by GW38 may make it easier for Arsenal.  However you’ll probably have bigger priorities for GW38.

Phil Jones

No return date but seems unlikely to play again this season.   It’s possible that Rafael who’s due to return from injury for GW38 could get the nod but an away game to Southampton isn’t the most attractive defensive proposition especially when they failed to get 1 clean sheet in the 2 home games.

fantasy premier league injuries gameweek 38 – those returning from injury and suspension

Henderson

Back from suspension for GW38.  Hard not to see his box to box work rate meaning he wont return to the side.  Probably in place of Lucas.  Could be an option but you’d have to be pretty happy with your team to use your free transfer on this even with Liverpool playing to stay in the title race.

Gibbs

Ready to return from injury for GW38 match against Norwich. Only Palace and Hull have scored less than Norwich at home in their last 6 so there is some prospect of an Arsenal clean sheet.   Monreal played at LB and it’s difficult to see whether Wenger will play Gibbs who’s played most games this season for what could be a meaningless fixture for both teams let alone Arsenal who are secure in 4th and can’t realistically make 3rd.

Vertonghen

Should return from injury for GW38.  With Kaboul sent off this makes the player who will be replaced rather easy to pick.  A home game to Villa gives a reasonable prospect of a clean sheet.  Villa have at times been good away from home but still have blanked 6 of 17 times away.  In their last 6 games away they’ve only scored 3 goals.

Thats it.  Injury time frames from the excellent site physioroom.com.
