fantasy premier league – early ideas for a January wildcard team

Fantasy Premier League

No I haven’t changed my mind already this is a fantasy premier league team as ideas only for your January wildcard.  I haven’t done mine yet

fantasy premier league – early ideas for a January wildcard team

This is very much an early team.  This week my normal articles will be out with the “ones to watch ” , rating the defences, fixture ease articles which may tweak it but these are my thoughts for now.  I’ve used my value which is around £105m

Here’s the team firstly:

janWCTEAM

Mannone and Marshall

2 home rotation teams.  The total cost at the moment is £9.1m and the choice here is between a cheap rotation pairing and someone like Mignolet or Lloris who are £5.5m and £5.8m and the cheapest GK possible such as Kelvin Davis who is £3.9m.  That double with Mignolet would be £9.4m

Mannone  next 6 fantasy premier league home games:

Southampton (H)
Stoke City (H)
Hull City (H)
West Brom (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
West Ham (H)

Marshall next 6 fantasy premier league home games:

West Ham (H)
Norwich (H)
Aston Villa (H)
Hull City (H)
Fulham (H)
Liverpool (H)

Coleman

The best attacking defender in the best overall defence with Arsenal at the moment.  Coleman is the Suarez of defence at the moment.  Killing people who don’t have him. Baines is £7.4m if you want free kicks and pens. Alcaraz the short term cheapie at £4.3m

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Norwich (H)
West Brom (A)
Liverpool (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Tottenham (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Koscielny

As I said the best overall defence at the moment with Everton. Mertescaker is the better attacking option but alot more expensive at £6.4m.  Hasn’t got the attacking returns but has got 2 clean sheets in his last 2 games and 2 bonus points in each of those games.  Arsenal have got 8 clean sheets in their last 12 games.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Aston Villa (A)
Fulham (H)
Southampton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (H)

Azpilicueta

Chelsea are finally showing some defensive form and its now 3 clean sheets in their last 4 games.  Terry is definitely the best option at £6.6m for bonus and attacking returns.  Azpilicueta is the budget option.  He’s also a gametime risk as I think Ivanovic will take his place at RB when he returns.  Does that mean Azpilicueta will return to LB?  Potentially not if Cole plays well.  However he is great value and worth the risk compared to the price of other Chelsea defenders.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Hull City (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Ham (H)
Man City (A)
Newcastle (H)
West Brom (A)

Ward

The Pulis effect has seen 3 clean sheets from 7 games and 2 of 4 home clean sheets.  Ward is also playing in midfield and has shown an ability to get forward.  Doesn’t really rotate that well with Chester but playing 3-4-3 he is a great budget option

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Tottenham (A)
Stoke City (H)
Hull City (H)
Arsenal (A)
West Brom (H)
Everton (A)

Chester

6 clean sheets in 10 home games and recently shown some goal threat.  Great value at £3.9m for your 4/5th defender.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Chelsea (H)
Norwich (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
Tottenham (H)
Sunderland (A)
Southampton (H)

Hazard

Starting to look like a more consistent player and one who can return away from Stamford Bridge.  Since GW11 he’s returned in 7 of the 10 games and  in 3 out of the 5 away games.  Continues to be rotation proof in the premier league as only not started 1 game.  Interestingly owned by 10 of the 10 fantasy premier league managers teams I’ve analysed.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Hull City (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Ham (H)
Man City (A)
Newcastle (H)
West Brom (A)

Januzaj

Looks better and better every game and more effective.  Started 4 of the last 5 fantasy premier league fixtures.  2 assists and a goal in that time.  Only tricky thing is picking the fixtures that he will start in if you have him as and 4/5 rotating midfielder.  Cant really have him as a bench warmer to fill in for injuries due to that rotation.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Swansea (H)
Chelsea (A)
Cardiff City (H)
Stoke City (A)
Fulham (H)
Arsenal (A)

Walcott

In the 5 games started since he’s returned he’s scored 5 goals and an assist.  Will be even more lethal with Ozil feeding through balls to him when Ozil returns.  Fixtures on the way as well are good

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Aston Villa (A)
Fulham (H)
Southampton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (H)

Barkley

Only 3 goals and 2 assists in 16 starts which isn’t great.  However in a centrally advanced position with Lukau as a target youve got to think things will improve.  Plus the very tempting target of Norwich at home next.  Only as a 4/5 rotation player though.  Not productive enough yet to start every game in your fantasy premier league team. Shelvy Sterling and Whittingham are other cheapie options for 4/5 rotation

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Norwich (H)
West Brom (A)
Liverpool (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Tottenham (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Silva

A goal and an assist in the 4 games since back is a good return for creative force behind Manchester City.  Given the layoffs for injury as enforced rest and his importance to the team should be reasonably rotation proof in fantasy premier league.  This is especially so if they go out to Barcelona in the Champions league next.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Newcastle (A)
Cardiff City (H)
Tottenham (A)
Chelsea (H)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)

Lukaku

It’s only 1 goal in the last 4 games but that was after 5 consecutive games with returns.  Can be frustrating as not involved in play like Aguero or Suarez.  Relies on movement and getting behind or between defenders.  Still has the basic talent to be one of the best strikers in the league.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Norwich (H)
West Brom (A)
Liverpool (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Tottenham (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Adebayor

Lets remember it was only 2 season ago  that he scored 17 goals and 12 assists.  At £7.7m he’s a bargain.  Sherwood has turned Spurs into a much more attacking side.  It was interesting against Man Utd he also stuck to 4-4-2.   Since returning to the side he’s scored 3 goals and 2 assists in 4 games.   Fixtures are a little mixed

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Crystal Palace (H)
Swansea (A)
Man City (H)
Hull City (A)
Everton (H)
Newcastle (A)

Suarez

19 goals and 12 assists in 15 games.  Need I say any more?

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Stoke City (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Everton (H)
West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Fulham (A)
