Gameweek analysis

Here’s the fantasy premier league match analysis gameweek 28  – short version for Wigan v Liverpool, Chelsea v WBA,  Man Utd v Norwich and Southampton v QPR

Wigan 0 Liverpool 4

A hat trick for Suarez and a goal for Downing plus with 2 assists from Coutinho and one from Johnson.   Just when you think that you can think about swapping Suarez for Sturridge to save funds he goes and does something like this.  Consistently top of all the striking stats the guy is total quality.

Defensive stats:  Interestingly they were virtually equal at ok, just errors and great finishing separated the score

Player shooting stats:  Suarez then Maloney were the only ones to register.

Pen box touches:  Suarez by a mile followed by Kone

Chances created:  Coutinho Johnson and Beaujesour at fairly low levels

Most advanced misdfielders:  Downing and Beaujesour although both on the flanks.  Maloney was the only one to register in a central position

Most involved players in attacking positions: Kone and Suarez

Chelsea 1 WBA 0

Maybe Mata’s underlying stats are finally catching up with him.  2 starts with no returns aren’t the end of the world especially when one was away to City but you can make the case that he’s  overperforming and without a game in GW29 he becomes a possible target for rotation.  West Ham H Southampton A and Sunderland H after GW29 make it hard to sell though.  Here his blank was with not appalling stats but considering the opposition and the dominance then it was disappointing.  Goal from Ba with a Luiz assist.

Defensive stats:   fantastic defensive stats from Chelsea but this was a WBA without Lukaku.  Despite everyone raving about the WBA defence and the clean sheets the overall season stats aren’t great and here their  stats were appalling and the game should have been a rout.

Player shooting stats:  Oscar and Ba had the best stats.  How Oscar didn’t score here was quite unbelievable

Pen box touches:  Oscar and Mata by a mile followed by Ba

Chances created:  Mata and Oscar

Most advanced midfielders:  Mata and Oscar both central.  Morrison and Dorrans.  Morrison the most central.

Most involved players in attacking positions: Oscar

How did suddenly Oscar become the focal point of attack.  He was more central than the other 2 play makers but it was an unusually strong performance.

Man Utd 4 Norwich 0

This was just like the old days before RVP.  Rooney hasn’t lost his touch in dealing to poor opposition with a goal and 2 assists.  Kagawa seems to have come from no were to get a hat trick.  Other 2 assists from RVP and Welbeck

Defensive stats:   Fantastic stats from Utd and it’s now 4 clean sheets in a row.  Poor stats from Norwich.

Player shooting stats:   Rooney followed by Kagawa and RVP

Pen box touches:   Kagawa and Rooney

Chances created:   Rooney followed by Kagawa RVP and Valencia

Most advanced midfielders:   Valencia wide and Kagawa centrally.  Hoolahan reasonably central

Most involved players in attacking positions:  Rooney for Utd.  Hoolahan for Norwich.

Southampton 1 QPR 2

After the hammering at Swansea there was alot of expectation on Southampton players especially Rickie Lambert.  However goals from Bothroyd and Remy with assists from Park and Hoilett gave QPR the win over Saints who scored through Ramirez assisted by Rodriguez. Lambert was very disappointing.

Defensive stats:   Saints had the better defensive stats and have been strong defensively at home under the new manager but a counter attack leading to a Remy finish and another  shocker from Danny Fox gave QPR the win despite Saints dominating the game.  QPRs defensive stats were ok considering the opposition

Player shooting stats:  Only really Bothroyd and Puncheon maybe.  Lambert was very quiet.

Pen box touches:   Lambert and Puncheon

Chances created:    Schneiderlin

Most advanced midfielders:    Lallana and reasonably central.  Hoilett although on the flank.

Most involved players in attacking positions:  Lambert and Remy
