Gameweek analysis

Here’s the fantasy premier league match analysis gameweek 29 – short form Norwich v Southampton and QPR v Sunderland

Norwich o Southampton 0

Penalty at the death missed by Grant Holt

A bit of a shock that Clyne and Puncheon were on the bench.  Puncheons game time can no longer be considered secure.  There has been some theory that Clyne was injury rather than being dropped.

Defensive stats:    Fantastic stats from Saints in a game they controlled.  Not that great stats from Norwich but they kept another clean sheet at home

Player shooting stats:    Rodriguez quite easily.  Then Lallana.  Lambert just behind but at a low level.

Pen box touches:   Lambert Rodriguez and Lallana

Chances created:  Only Lambert registered

Most advanced midfielders:    Pilkington and Ramirez

Most involved players in attacking positions for each team:   Lambert and Hoolahan

Favoured players Lambert and Snodgrass were relatively quiet on the stats front.  Lamberthasnt been a consistent shooting stats performer like Benteke and Lukaku but has racked up the goals but I’m hesitant and prefer the other 2.  Even allowing for the team being played Southamptons defensive stats were very good and Norwich again showed how to keep a CS at home.  Could  Rodriguez at £5.1m become an alternative to Pogrebnyak, Le Fondre and Anichebe as a very budget striker. A goal and 4 assists in his last 6 is pretty impressive .  2 difficult home games to Liverpool and Chelsea mean it may not be worth rushing out especially with the new manager showing alot of tinkering inclinations.  He is yet to surface in the stats and there are also real alternatives in the mid range at the moment with Lukaku and Benteke.

 QPR 3 Sunderland 1

This really was the Andre Townsend show with a goal and 2 assists.  Remy and Jenas provided the other goals and Hoilett the assist.  Unfortunately Townsend being dropped last week removed him from fantasy premier league radars with security of turning up being  a priority ironically given some of the selection shocks.  Taarabt didn’t make an appearance.  Fletcher scored for Sunderland with a Johnson assist.

Defensive stats: Despite the goals both sides had pretty good defensive stats

Player shooting stats:  Fletcher led the stats at quite a low level.  Remy was next but not really something you would consider good.

Pen box touches:    Zamaora and Sess but again at poor levels

Chances created:    Boswinga Townsend and Larsson led the way but again at low levels.

Most advanced midfielders:   Townsend and Sessegnon

Most involved players in attacking positions for each team:  Sessegnon and Hoilett

Not really too much to get excited about here apart from Townsend  whos very cheap in midfield at £4.4m.  Will he play in away games.  Remy again scored but without the stats.  Sessegnon just didn’t get the shots or in to the penalty area as you would like and I’m still not convinced I have to say. Also after the next game home to Norwich there’s some tricky ones to follow.  Fletcher produced some ok stats and scored but again after the Norwich game the fixtures get tricky.  Lukaku and Benteke are better bets for me.
