Gameweek analysis

Here’s the fantasy premier league match analysis for gameweek 33 – Saturdays

 Arsenal 3 Norwich 1

Goals from an Areteta pen, Giroud and Podolski with assists from Giroud the Ox and Walcott as sub. Norwich scored through Turner assisted by Snodgrass

Defensive stats:     the Arsenal defensive stats were excellent.  Norwich’s werent great but it wasnt siege type stats

Player shooting stats:     It was a one man show in this regard, only Giroud turned up with Russell Martin being the only other player with any stats

Pen box touches:      Giroud twice as much as anyone else followed by Gervinho Gibbs and Podolski

Chances created:     Only Giroud turned up here as well

Most advanced midfielders for each team:     Gervinho and Snodgrass

Most involved players in attacking positions for each team: Cazorla and Holt

Comments on important fantasy premier league players:

Serious questions need to be asked of Gervinho and Cazorla both of who’s attacking output was very poor.  Gervinho had a high average position and reasonably good pen box touches but Cazorla had neither of these.  Its one thing away to WBA its another home to Norwich.  Giroud was excellent and Walcott can be excused as his output was acceptable for 37 minutes

Southampton 1 West Ham 1

Ramirez and Carroll scored with only 1 assist credited for O’Neill

Defensive stats:    Pretty good stats all round especially from Saints

Player shooting stats:     Ramirez had the best stats, followed by Carroll.  Lambert and Nolan behind them

Pen box touches: Carroll and Lambert

Chances created: Lambert and O’Neill

Most advanced midfielders:  Lallana and Jarvis out wide

Most involved players in attacking positions for each team: Lambert Vaz Te and Carroll

Comments on important fantasy premier league players:

For some reason Rodriguez was on the bench which will slow down  the bandwagon for him.

Lambert produced a good all round performance with Ok shooting stats and good creating chances stats.

It was another promising performance by Lallana with a shot stats which couldn’t get anything on target and a good average forward position.

Ramirez was the attacking star for Saints though with the underlying stats and the goal.  Its hard to see him being left out and it will be interesting to see how attacking players Lallana Ramirez and Rodriguez are integrated and who if one of them is left out next week

Carroll has been producing good stats recently and the goal was no surprise even if it did have a lot of good fortune.

Diame was disappointing this week with no shots no chances created no pen box touches and obviously started far deeper than last week

Nolan finally produced some shooting stats and although had a deeper average position this was due to a box to box performance and his pen box touches in the context of the game was ok.

Everton 2 QPR 0

Anichebe and Gibson scored with assists from Distin and Mirallas

Defensive stats:  Great stats from Everton.  Not so great from QPR

Player shooting stats:      Anichebe followed by Distin Jagielka and Mirallas

Pen box touches:     Anichebe Distin Mirallas Remy

Chances created:      Baines

Most advanced midfielders for each team: Pienaar and Fellaini.  Hoilett and Towsend

Most involved players in attacking positions for each team:  Fellaini and Townsend

Comments on important fantasy premier league players:

Fellaini did nothing shots wise, very little pen box touches and not much in the way of average position.  Its very much a monitor

Pienaar also had a very quiet game.

Remy was a little quiet but still produced some stats considering he was away to Everton

Aston Villa 1 Fulham 1

NZogbia scored assisted by Weiman.  Ruiz assisted a Delph OG

Defensive stats:   Not too bad stats for either but alot of clear cut chances given

Player shooting stats:    Berba had so many good chances but just couldn’t get anything on target.  His on  target % has been fantastic and this was always going to even out.  Similar for Benteke.  Then NZogbia and Delph

Pen box touches:    NZogbia Benteke Berba Weiman Baker

Chances created:  Ruiz and Benteke

Most advanced midfielders: NZogbia and Emanuelson

Most involved players in attacking positions for each team:  Berba and Ruiz.  Nzogbia

Comments on important fantasy premier league players:

NZogbia for the first time looked like the player who single handedly kept Wigan up for all those years. His stats had everything shooting wise, shots in the box, high average position, pen box touches, involvement in the final third.  The issue is will he play when Agbonlahor comes back.  Weiman looks settled which leaves either Agbonlahor or NZogbia to take that 3rd attacking spot.

Benteke and Berba both had loads of chances , just couldn’t get anything on target.  Fantasy premier league owners shouldn’t knee jerk if they own them.

Duff got a bit of attention in the week but did nothing.

Reading 0 Liverpool 0

Defensive stats:    great stats from Liverpool.  It was a siege against Reading and the stats reflected that.  McCarthy was unbelievable

Player shooting stats:   Suarez by a mile.  Sturridge followed by Coutinho

Pen box touches:     Sturridge Suarez and Coutinho

Chances created:   Sturridge Gerrard Johnson and McLeary

Most advanced midfielders:  McLeary and McAnuff out wide.  Coutinho

Most involved players in attacking positions for each team:  Coutinho and McAnuff

Comments on important fantasy premier league players:

You have to be careful not to over emphasise stats against the leagues poorest team.  2 games no returns for Suarez but both games he continues to produce the underlying stats.  Fantasy premier league managers should keep the faith.  Sturridge didn’t slow him down today at all with lots of position swapping and produced very good stats himself.

Coutinho has started to show up in the last 3 shooting stats and is certainly on the radar after this performance when he featured highly in the shooting stats, pen box touches, high average position and in the involvement in the last 3rd
