Here’s the fantasy premier league match analysis for gameweek 36 – Saturday
Swansea 0 Manchester City 0
Defensive stats: Great stats from City. Not so good from Swansea and its amazing City didnt score
Player shooting stats: Dzeko Silva and Nasri then Pablo. Aguero did nothing as did Michu barely. Tevez was a late sub
Pen box touches: Silva led from Silva Aguero and Nasri
Chances created: Dyer
Most advanced midfielders for each team: Routledge and Silva. Michu was weirdly deep
Most involved players in attacking positions for each team: Silva and Nasri. Rangel
Comments on important fantasy premier league players:
The game was a City procession and really they should have won easily. Tevez started on the bench. Aguero did nothing but did have one golden chance to score. Nasri and Silva stepped up though but again just couldn’t score. Both had excellent chances to do so and consistently got themselves inside from the flanks in to the box. Michu was very quiet although he was subbed with an injury and is now out for the season.
Spurs 1 Southampton 0
Bale goal assisted by Walker
Defensive stats: Finally a clean sheet from Spurs although it was Saints who had fantastic defensive stats. Spurs were also very good
Player shooting stats: Only Lallana
Pen box touches: Defoe and Rodriguez
Chances created: No one
Most advanced midfielders: Bale and Do Prado
Most involved players in attacking positions for each team: Lambert and Bale
Comments on important fantasy premier league players:
A game that defences dominated. Southampton were terrific in nullifying Spurs and without an early goal Spurs suffered and couldn’t provide a structured attack that created chances. This is where they have missed Modric to open teams up at home. Bale had 3 shots but only 1 in the box. He had to move from the centre to the right as he was kept so quiet. Only Lallana stepped up with good shooting stats. Rodriguez was quiet shots wise but still got reasonable pen box touches. Defoe had the pen box touches but not the shots and Dempsey was also quiet. Seeing Lambert in this game its easy to see why he doesn’t provide that many shots but does create chances as he’s often drifting away from the centre to create space and passes for others which is why Lallana benefits. I’m not sure how many of Lamberts goals come from free kicks and pens but I can see why he doesn’t have great shot stats.
WBA 2 Wigan 3
McAuley Long scored assisted by Dorrans and Rosenberg. McArthur McManaman and Kone assisted by Maloney 2 and Beaujesour
Defensive stats: Okish from WBA slightly worse from Wigan
Player shooting stats: McAuley Kone McArthur and McManaman
Pen box touches: McAuley Lukaku Kone McManaman Rosenberg
Chances created: Dorrans Kone Maloney and McCarthy
Most advanced midfielders for each team: Dorrans and Maloney
Most involved players in attacking positions for each team: Maloney and Dorrans
Comments on important fantasy premier league players:
Lukaku was the big fantasy prospect and was ultimately disappointing with little shot output although he was subbed. He had the deepest average position of the 3 strikers. I can only think the system change didn’t work for him. Kone produced as did cheapie McManaman. Maloney didnt have much shot output but did create chances and kept a forward , although wide left, position. I’m just not sure, despite the 2 assists, what the wide left position will do to his output. He produced today as Jones is not really a good defensive FB.
Lukaku while he was on still occupied the central position as did Kone and they are the 2 leading fantasy premier league assets from this game
QPR 0 Arsenal 1
Walcott with an Arteta assist
Defensive stats: very good stats from both teams
Player shooting stats: Walcott by miles. Followed by Park
Pen box touches: Walcott then Podolski followed by Zamora and Park.
Chances created: Ramsey Jenas Park
Most advanced midfielders for each team: Townsend and Walcott. Walcott was further forward then the supposed striker Podolski
Most involved players in attacking positions for each team: Ramsey/Cazorla and Zamora
Comments on important fantasy premier league players:
Walcott really came back in to it in this game. He was helped as Podolski seemed to drift left when Arsenal were attacking which allowed Walcott to occupy a central area. Cazorla again showed little output and while he seems to be able to score on the counter, in a structured attack he just doesn’t get in to the box enough. Rosicky also produced little despite being in the hole which I imagine will be filled by Wilshire on his return. Remy has been the only attacking presence for QPR but he was quiet today. Park probably had the best attacking stats due to Monreal being so far up the pitch.
Fulham 2 Reading 4
2 Ruiz goals assisted by Kacaniklic and Rodellaga. 2 goals from HRK including a pen plus goals from Karacan and Le Fondre. Assists from Karacan McLeary and Le Londre
Defensive stats: Pretty horrible stats from both teams
Player shooting stats: Rodellaga the best followed by Ruiz and HRK. Then Berba Karacan and McLeary.
Pen box touches: Rodallega and Ruiz by miles. Then HRK Berba Duff and McLeary
Chances created: Rodallega Ruiz Guthrie and McAnuff
Most advanced midfielders: Duff and HRK
Most involved players in attacking positions for each team: McLeary and Rodallega/Ruiz
Comments on important fantasy premier league players:
2 players who played a big part in this game have had gametime issues recently. HRK who’s always been my best Reading midfielder and Rodallega who’s never really been in favour with Jol. Ruiz has created chances all season but with paltry results but to be honest anyone can score against this defence. Berba was the disappointment, pretty ordinary shooting stats and no chances created against the worst defence in the league. The problem was that Rodallega was the central focus of the attack with Ruiz coming from deep which meant that Berba drifted around to the flanks. It was noticeable that he wasn’t the usual dominant force involvement wise and to be honest he’s not an option for me at the moment.
Norwich 1 Aston Villa 2
A goal from Holt assisted by Snodgrass. Agbonlahor scored 2 for Villa assisted both by Westwood
Defensive stats: Good stats from Norwich despite the score and pretty good too from Villa
Player shooting stats: Holt followed by Agbonlahor
Pen box touches: Holt by a mile followed by Weiman and Baker
Chances created: Westwood
Most advanced midfielders for each team: Snodgrass. No one from Villa advanced as 3 forwards on the pitch.
Most involved players in attacking positions for each team: Snodgrass and Holt. Benteke and Agbonlahor
Comments on important fantasy premier league players:
It was against Villa, one of the worst defences in the league, but even so, when you see Holts stats in this game you wonder why he’s been out of favour. These chances were limited to the end of the game mainly when Norwich were forced to attack and he should have scored again
Agbonlahor was the star here for Villa over Benteke. Benteke had few shots and few pen box touches although was still in an advanced position and very involved in the game. This can be written off as a day when things didn’t go well and to be honest Norwich dominated the game on possession which limited his chances. Villa were dangerous on the break though and had as many chances. Agbonlahor seemed the focal point and the outlet on the break.
Snodgrass had an ordinary match considering the opposition.
West Ham 0 Newcastle 0
Defensive stats: West Hams stats were fantastic. Newcastles pretty poor but a CS is a CS
Player shooting stats: Nolan followed by Carroll. Then Cisse
Pen box touches: Carroll had more pen box touches than I can ever recall seeing. Followed by Nolan in the distance
Chances created: O’Neill
Most advanced midfielders for each team: Nolan centrally and Jarvis on the flank
Most involved players in attacking positions for each team: Carroll and Cabaye
Comments on important fantasy premier league players:
In my mind Carroll, Nolan and Cisse are the only players worth fantasy premier league managers looking at from this game. The Newcastle old boys will be kicking themselves for not scoring in this game when they really should have. Nolan and Carroll were great but just couldn’t score. Cisse still continued his good stats and should have scored himself.
