Gameweek analysis

Here’s the fantasy premier league match analysis for GW15 – Newcastle v Wigan

Newcastle 3 Wigan 0

Line ups

No surprises in the Newcastle line up.  The only real debate was who would take the LM spot and this fell to Marveaux.  Wigan were also fairly predictable in their line up with perhaps the only debate being between McArthur and Jones in midfield

The match

Wigan started brightly but the game changed when Figueroa got sent off for a foul on Cisse.  This was compounded with a mistake by Al Habsi which Ba capitalised on for his second.  The game then meandered to the end of the first half.  10 men Wigan came out fighting in the 2nd half but their resistance was quelled when Gael Bigirimana  scored a wonder goal to wrap it up.

match stats

An indication of Wigans  playing style was shown with the possession stats of only 51% to Newcastle.  Shots were 16/8 to 9/4 though. The defensive stats were ok for Newcastle but understandably not great for Wigan.  Newcastle kept a rare clean sheet helped by the presence of Coloccini

player stats

Ba led the shots stats followed closely by Cisse and Kone. Pen box touches were  Kone, Ba and Marveaux.  Chances created were led by Anita and Marveaux.  The most forward midfielders were Jones and Marveaux.
