Player comments

Defences

Much better performance than recently from Everton.  Aston Villa were their as to be expected poor self.

Benteke

Missed a penalty but a constant threat and only Lukaku had better shooting stats

Lukaku

Was top quality and always looked dangerous.  Goal was no surprise and had the best shooting stats

Mirrallas

No returns but had good underlying stats as we come to expect.

Osman

Came on for half an hour or so and it was 1 shot and 1 chance created and it led to a goal and an assist.  Only question is whether this threatens Barkley.  It’s hard to see that Martinez can eulogise about Barkley and then drop him so suddenly but it was an impressive substitution

Southampton 2 Fulham 0

Southampton (4-4-2): Boruc 6; Clyne 6, Fonte 6, Lovren 7, Shaw 6; Ward-Prowse 7 (Cork 90), Wanyama 7, Schneiderlin 6, Lallana 7; Rodriguez 8 (Do Prado 78), Lambert 7.
Subs not used: K Davis, Ramírez, Lee, Chambers, Hooiveld.
Fulham (4-4-1-1): Stekelenburg 6; Riether 5 (Hughes 46 5), Senderos 5, Amorebieta 5, Richardson 5; Ruiz 5 (Kacaniklic 80), Sidwell 5, Parker 5, Kasami 4; Berbatov 4; Bent 5 (Rodallega 75 5).
Subs not used: Stockdale, Karagounis, Duff, Zverotic.

Line up comments:

Southampton:  Most notable was Lambert for Osvaldo.  JWP came in for the injured Davis

Fulham:  No real surprises was the surprise from Martin Jol

Player comments

Defences

Predictable in the sense that the Southampton defence was fantastic and the Fulham defence awful

Lallana

Got forward and into the box but no returns and pretty limited shooting and chances created stats.  Unfortunately a little par for the course

Lambert

Was fantastic with a goal and an assist plus great shooting stats.  It was Fulham though and whether he will retain his spot over Osvaldo is questionable.

Rodriguez

Great shooting stats plus a goal and an assist.

JWP

No returns but great set pieces and created chances all over the place.  Davis will probably return though

Norwich 0 Cardiff 0

Norwich: (4-1-4-1) Ruddy 6; Martin 5, Turner 6, Bassong 6, Olsson 6; Tettey 6; Snodgrass 8, Fer 7, Howson 8 (Van Wolfswinkel 87mins), Pilkington 6 (Redmond 72mins 6); Hooper 8 (Elmander 72mins 5)
Subs not used: Nash, Whittaker, Johnson, Bennett
Booked: Tettey

Cardiff: (4-1-4-1) Marshall 8; Theophile-Catherine 6, Caulker 7, Turner 7, Taylor 6; Medel 6 (Bellamy 73mins 5); Odemwingie 5 (Cowie 46mins 5), Kim 5 (Gunnarsson 46mins 6), Mutch 6, Whittingham 6; Campbell 6
Subs not used: Lewis, Hudson, Mason, Maynard
Booked: Odemwingie

Norwich:  Pilkington held his place over Redmond and Hooper started over RVW who was an injury doubt

Cardiff:  Kim and Campbell returned.

Defences

The Norwich defence was barely threatened.  The Cardiff defence was under siege and it was only the GK which got them a point.

Fer

Seemed to be the only one on the planet who thought you could score from an injury related throw in.  The biggest goal threat but its hard to think of anyone who’s got 1 assist in his first 8 games and who plays in such an attacking challenged team

Hooper

Had a hatful of chances to score but just couldn’t make it happen.  No returns in 200 minutes of mainly sub appearances

Snodgrass

Created loads of chances but no one to finish.

Campbell

Did pretty much nothing.  if you’re one of the 7.4% who own you really should be selling

That’s it
