fantasy premier league midfielders – GW26 “ones to watch”

Here’s the table of stats with a key underneath if you haven’t seen it before.  The players as normal have been ranked on their returns, consistency, form and upcoming fixtures.  I haven’t adjusted the rankings specifically for the double game weeks and you’ll be aware that Spurs have a DGW28 but as I write this Chelsea’s has yet to be confirmed.  However you can use the information and stats to make decisions about your transfers with them coming up.  For example I will be getting Eriksen in for DGW28 irrespective of his ranking in this table as his big point potential makes him too dangerous not to own in a double gameweek.  However his inconsistency and returns are not up to the players above him in the ranking hence his no 6 position.  Hopefully thats clear.

Sanchez

Great stats and been in great form after a bit of a slow start.  Good consistency and returns.  Some ongoing injury issues but played in the FA Cup so should be fit for GW26.  The main question is whether the return from injury of Giroud, Ozil and Walcott will dilute his returns going forward.  Overall the best underlying stats of any midfielder.  Very high ownership among the leading managers

Next 6 fixtures

Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)

Hazard

Retained his deadly home form but also been more consistent this season.  Good overall underlying stats.  Also has pens.  Has a blank in GW27 but will have a DGW potentially in GW28 but thats subject to confirmation.  Owned by virtually every leading manager and with a DGW coming up at some stage becomes a dangerous player not to own.

Burnley (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Stoke (H)

Oscar

Hasn’t got the gametime security of Hazard and has particularly been subject to rotation against the bigger sides when Fabregas has been moved forward to accomodate 2 CDMs in the Chelsea team.  However has very good shooting stats and an ability to get into the box from his CAM position.  Like Hazard also has a blank in GW27 and a DGW potentially in GW28

Burnley (H)

West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Stoke (H)

Silva

Has been a little disappointing with 1 goal and 2 assists in 5 games over a period of very good fixtures.  An Aguero back in form should help but the underlying stats and consistency are a little disappointing as well compared to last year.  The good fixtures still continue and this is the reason that he still has potential for good returns

Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)
West Brom (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

Ozil

Some great form since coming back from injury with 2 goals and 3 assists in 3 games.  The reverse of this though is the first 6 games before he got injured of 1 goal and 1 assist and 1 returning game in that 6.  Not really a player who scores alot and his shooting stats are pretty disappointing. Has had a lot of pen box touches although this can be a deceptive stat.  It’s whether you believe playing on the left he can continue this run.  Fixtures are certainly good.  Has also taken some set pieces off Cazorla

Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)

Eriksen

The leading Spurs attacking midfielder although last 2 games hasn’t returned.  Has a blank in GW27 but does have a DGW28.  Will be very much in demand for that round.  A very dangerous but inconsistent returner.  Has the same amount of 10+ FPL point hauls of 6 that Sanchez and Hazard but his consistency return rate is a fairly woeful 36%.  That big point potential will make him a very dangerous player not to own in a double gameweek.  Also has set piece duties and direct free kicks.  Little in the way of underlying stats but set pieces, the ability to get into the box and excellent finishing from outside the box have seen the returns come in.  Great fixtures after the DGW as well

West Ham (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
GW28 Swansea (H)
GW28 QPR (A)
Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)

Cazorla

2 blanks after an incredible FPL 31 points in 2 games prior to that.  Seems to have been played deeper in the last couple of games which hasn’t helped the situation.  With Ozil and Walcott returned to the side and Sanchez in the team Cazorla seems the natural person to play a little deeper with Ramsey out as well.  Set pieces have also been diluted by Ozils return.  That could include pens but seems difficult to believe he will lose them after being the successful incumbent.

Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)

YYT

Just back from winning the ACON with the Ivory Coast.  Did score in 3 consecutive games before leaving for it and will hope with the good fixtures he can continue that run.  No underlying stats but as last year showed, no problem.

Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)
West Brom (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

Fabregas

The most consistent returner of the midfielders returning a goal or assist in 64% of matches.  However playing in the double pivot behind the 3 in 4-2-3-1 means that he has struggled to get shots in the box and we’ve only seen 2 goals in 22 games as a result.  It also means he has the lowest % of 10+ FPL point hauls of anyone apart from Walcott.  However set pieces especially have seen the points ticking over.  The problem is that Hazard and Oscar are looking like more attractive Chelsea options at the moment.   Like Hazard and Oscar he also has a blank in GW27 and a DGW potentially in GW28

Burnley (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Stoke (H)

Walcott

Just come back in the side and being eased back at that.  Has scored in the 2 games he’s started since doing so.  A very advanced midfielder with a very good scoring record.
