fantasy premier league midfielders – GW29 “ones to watch”

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league best midfielders article “ones to watch” for GW29.  The players are ranked although there’s a table of stats, some narrative on prospects and the next 6 fixtures to help you make your own assessment.  Looking forward there’s a DGW34 for Chelsea and Leicester but the article doesn’t take into account any further postponements to GW34 which may happen

Here’s the table of stats with a key underneath if you haven’t seen it before.  The players as normal have been ranked on their returns, consistency, form and upcoming fixtures. At the time of writing I’ve taken into account a DGW34 for Chelsea and Leicester but not any other potential postponements

Silva

In all the categories he’s looking excellent at the moment, form, consistency, season returns and has good fixtures coming up.  Even the 2 striker system and starting notionally on the flank doesn’t seem to have caused any issue.  Underlying stats have also been good. However, has been scoring on a very high ratio of shots in the box which may catch up with him.  High ownership among the leading and active managers also is in his favour from a ranking risk perspective.  If you don’t own him buying him for Burnley away is a good time to buy.

Burnley (A)
West Brom (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Man Utd (A)
West Ham (H)
Aston Villa (H)

Hazard

Was fantastic against against West Ham scoring the only goal for Chelsea to win.  Has everything with consistent performances and the ability to score big. Even if for some reason you don’t believe in him his ownership among leading and active players is so high that you take a big ranking risk if you don’t own him. Also has pens.  The only negative is a few tricky fixtures mixed in with some ok ones.

Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Stoke (H)
QPR (A)
Man Utd (H)
Arsenal (A)

Sanchez

Finally came back to score against QPR after a 4 game blank.  However the underlying shooting stats are still there and he was his usual lively self against QPR.  That run of blanks has seen his leading and active ownership drop as FPL managers lost faith in him especially given the correlation with Ozil coming back.  That drop in ownership makes him less of a risk not to own and there’s a couple of tricky fixtures on the horizon.  It’s whether you think his advanced position and class will overcome those negatives.  Whether home to West Ham is the time to jump ship is another question.

West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)
Burnley (A)
Sunderland (H)
Chelsea (H)

Mane

Scored the winner against Palace although in reality it was a pretty quiet game for him.  The keys stats are a little mixed. The consistency and form stats are nothing special and neither is Saints overall attacking form.  However,  the overall season returns, underlying shooting stats and the upcoming fixtures (Chelsea game next apart) are the attractions.

Chelsea (A)
Burnley (H)
Everton (A)
Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
Spurs (H)

Ozil

Only his 2nd blank against QPR in 6 games since coming back from injury.  This is all about great recent form which is a mirror image of his early season form although you could excuse him after the World Cup.  Has ripped up the recent creating chances underlying stats, it’s just whether he shoots and scores enough to justify the price tag on an ongoing basis.

West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)
Burnley (A)
Sunderland (H)
Chelsea (H)

Sigurdsson

His goal against Spurs was his first return after 4 blanks.  With Bony gone it’s hard to look at previous stats as they had such a good relationship.  It seems that Gomis will be ok after passing out against Spurs which will at least provide a 2nd choice rather than 3rd choice target for chances Siggy creates.  He is the hub of Swansea’s attack as well as having the set piece and direct free kick responsibility.  After Liverpool the fixtures are very good.

Liverpool (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Hull (H)
Everton (H)
Leicester (A)
Newcastle (A)

Sterling

The sight of him playing as a wingback against Burnley was not really what you want to see as an FPL manager.  It also seems in the FA Cup game he’s lined up as a wingback on the left.  This is a major flag and needs monitoring before taking him forward.  Fixtures include some tricky ones especially in the next 3

Swansea (A)
Man Utd (H)
Arsenal (A)
Newcastle (H)
Hull (A)
West Brom (A)

Cazorla

Another player with a bit of a flag against him in playing a more withdrawn role in the Arsenal midfield.  Thats certainly effected his recent returns.  His big attraction at the moment is limited to pens.

West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)
Burnley (A)
Sunderland (H)
Chelsea (H)

Eriksen

Has some good fixtures coming up after Man Utd next and this plus the set pieces and the ability to score big at anytime are the attractions.  Was very unlucky in his blank against QPR hitting the post and having a number of good chances.  However consistency and recent returns aren’t good. Ok creating chances stats but little shots in the box stats but counters that with the ability to score from outside box at anytime

Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Newcastle (A)
Southampton (A)

Puncheon

Very unlucky not to score in the loss and his blank against his previous club Southampton.  Now playing as a CAM and taking set pieces.  That coupled with good fixtures makes him an option at the moment.  QPR at home next is a good time to buy

QPR (H)
Stoke (A)
Man City (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Brom (H)
Hull (H)
