fantasy premier league news catch up – November 5 2013

News

Here’s the fantasy premier league news catch up for Tuesday 5 November including Walcott, G Johnson, Joe Hart, Rafael, Reither, Bony and price rises and falls

Reither

The first player charged under the “not seen” rule which means players can be charged retrospectively for incidents not seen by the ref at the time.  Reither has been charged by the FA for violent conduct for the stamp on Januzaj and now looks like he will faces  3 match ban.

Personally I can’t see this as being a big deal as he’s only owned by 2% of fantasy premier league managers.  Way over priced at £5.0m in one of the worst defences in the league.  If you do own him you should sell.

Bony

Apparently doing extra training in order to get his fitness and form into shape.  A sure sign that Laudrups not  happy with him which is also fairly obvious from the fact that he’s only started 3 games in the first 10.  He’s dropped in price to £7.4m from £8m shoeing that fantasy premier league maagers also feel the same.   Its hard to know what the implications are for this.  New signing Alvaro has yet to cover himself in glory and Michu is in the same boat having not returned for 5 premier league games in a row.  One thing is for sure this certainly doesn’t give any confidence to Bony starting games anytime soon. The most likely scenario in my mind is Michu playing striker when he’s fit.  I’m not sure that is the advantage you would immediately think it is as some of his best performances have been when  playing in the advanced midfield role behind the striker.  Here’s Laudrup on the subject:

‘He didn’t have a proper pre-season and then after we signed him he had to stay away for nine days for the work permit.

‘We are here to help him and that’s why we are trying to do, to give him a programme where we are doing extra things with him to get him at his best.

‘Of course everybody wants to play all games, but what we are doing is trying to put him up to his best condition so we can see the best of Wilfried.’
Laudrup admitted he had no idea how long it will take for the 24-year-old to get up to speed, saying: ‘I don’t know. Football is not a science, and on top of what I am saying he is coming from the Dutch League into the Premier League.
‘It’s a huge step and he needs to adapt as well and that is why we’re trying to help him, we are all trying to do that. We are trying to give him the extra he did not have in the summer.’

Walcott

Some reports suggest he could be fit to play United.  I can’t see it I have to say.  Why he would be risked before an international break given his injury record and the chance that the break gives him to get completely fit.  At best I can see him on the bench. So I personally wont be going out to buy him just yet.

Joe Hart

It wont be any surprise that he’s not in the starting 11 for the champions league game. Pellegrini was obviously vague as to the implications as to when he might be back

It does give a very interesting cheapie option at GK for Pantmillon who’s only £4.7m, far cheaper than anyone else in the City defence.  Its a pretty risky punt though as who knows how long he will have the place.  If you’re looking like a transfer will go to waste because you don’t need to change your team then this is a reasonable option with a decent upside.   However in the real fire fighting fantasy premier league world  I won’t be taking the chance as it feels to me Hart will be back having been given the proverbial kick up the backside he needed

Weimann

Not sure anyone’s interested in cheapie strikers anymore but if you are it looks like Weimann will be out for the juicy home clash against Cardiff in GW11 but the signs are that he could be back after the International Break.  villa havea good run at the moment but Benteke in my mind is the only real Villa attacking prospect.  Here’s what Lambert had to say courtesy of the Daily Mail

It looks like a hamstring at the minute. I don’t know how severe it is,’ Villa manager Paul Lambert told the club’s official website.
‘The thing is we’ve one more game then we get a break, so hopefully the break helps him.’

G Johnson

Missed the game against Liverpool with illness which transpired to be a facial infection, whatever that means?  Now discharged from hospital and looks like he will be ready for what will hopefully be (from a Mignolet fantasy premier league owners perspective)  Liverpool’s first clean sheet in 8

Rafael

Big doubt after injuring his ankle in the game against Fulham and now a doubt for the arsenal home game.  Given the unlikely nature that a clean sheet seems for this game for United given their recent defensive history, then it doesn’t seem a major loss to fantasy premier league managers.  Jones or Smalling seem the most likely candidates to fill the gap.

Price rises and falls

The only £0.2m price rise unsurprisingly is Aguero.   Other £0.1ms are Rosenior, Davies, Lovren, Dawson, Reid, Januzaj, Silva, Ramsey, Lallana, Townsend, R Morrison, Torres and Suarez.

Loads of falls.  Giroud is the only £0.2m fall.  Significant £0.1m falls are Mignolet, Coleman, Zabaleta, Moses, Nani, HBA, Michu, Ozil, Eriksen, Soldado Remy and Eto’o
