fantasy premier league news catch up – Tuesday 17 September 2013

various

Here’s a fantasy premier league news catch up on Tuesday 17 September 2013 including Pienaar, Okore, Agger, Coutinho, Kompany, Pablo and Gedo

Pienaar

Hamstring injury has ruled him out for a month.
Good news for fantasy premier league managers who own Barkley as it means he will be more certain of a place when Gibson and McCarthy come into the team. Bad news for Lukaku owners as Pienaar and Baines have been the main creators of chances for Everton.  Although at £7.4m Lukaku is an absolute steal and this wouldn’t be enough to put me off a purchase.

Okore

CB Okore who started the last 2 games at CB is now out for up to 9 months with an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his right knee. Terrible news for him after a promising start to his premier league career. However in the harsh world of fantasy premier league every tragedy has an upside and this does bring cheapie CB Nathan Baker back into the picture, although he still had competition with Cieran Clark.   The winner of that should become apparent on the weekend away at Norwich.  However the importance of defence at the moment and whether we should be looking at least £4.5m options at say Saints and West Ham as better options is a big question.  I wouldn’t consider a Villa defender at the moment after a pretty suspect performance home to Newcastle

Agger and Coutinho

Agger should be back for the weekends match against Southampton after a freak gym injury.  A 3 way CB battle for Aggers partner between Toure, Sakho and Skrtel has emerged.  It looks difficult to predict although my money would be on Sakho given Rodgers praise and the £16m outlay.  Wisdom at RB gives a short term cheapie option with Liverpool having good fixtures starting with goal shy Saints at home.  Coutinho yet to be assessed after he went off with a shoulder injury.

Kompany

Back in the City squad for the Champs league game in the Czech Republic.  No need to rush into a purchase though with the Manchester derby in GW5 and City facjng some good fixtures but he will improve the defence and this has  been proved historically with stats.

Pablo

Swansea winger has a hamstring injury and maybe out for a week or 2 according to Laudrup. Only short term so no real benefit to be looked at so I wouldn’t jump anywhere as a result. I would stick with Bony or Michu if you want Swansea assets.

Gedo

There aren’t many £4.5m strikers in fantasy premier league, certainly none as yet that you would be expecting to start.   Gedo is a £4.5m striker but there’s no certainty over his starts as yet.   He rejoins them on after sorting out his visa requirements.  He scored 5 goals in 12 games last year in the Championship.  Bruce now has 4 strikers in Aluko, Sagbo Graham and now Gedo.  Gedo’s  a few weeks from match fitness so no need to be concerned as yet as to whether he has cheap filler potential

Thats it!
